Was she even invited? “I don’t know if she was invited,” McCallister says. Don’t know? How could that be? It’s hard to miss an invitation from a presidential inauguration committee. For its part, Obama’s inaugural committee has declined to say whether an invitation was sent to Palin. Repeated phone calls to its press office produced no answer to this simple question…
If Palin was left off the guest list, it’s not clear whether the snub came from McCain or the Presidential Inaugural Committee.

Eye-witnesses said the captain pulled the nose of the plane up just as it hit the water, helping to keep the fuselage intact. Experts said the pilot did ‘absolutely everything right’ with a ‘textbook ditching’.
‘If you know you are facing a ditching, the crash-landing of an aircraft on water, it is crucial that you land the plane absolutely level,’ said David Learmount, operations and safety officer of Flight Global.
‘You must not try to keep the plane airborne and if you land it too slowly you will drop out of the sky,’ he added.
Mr Learmount said that the pilot had to land the plane perfectly straight – otherwise it would have broken up on impact.

“Did you hear about this? This is pretty scary. A US Airways flight out of LaGuardia had to make an emergency landing in the Hudson River after it apparently hit a flock of geese. Luckily, everybody was rescued. The pilot did a wonderful job. The emergency workers did a great job. They saved everybody. The airline tried to blame it on the birds, but a spokesman for the geese say, hey, they were honking all the way.
“They showed the plane floating on the Hudson River. All the passengers evacuated using life vests – well, those that had $25.
“Here’s the amazing part – they actually could have landed in Newark, but people said, no, we’ll take the river. Thank you, we appreciate it…
“Rescuers not only got all the passengers out of the Hudson River, they also pulled up three mob bodies that had been thrown in there, too.
“People are wondering now how they were going to get the plane out of the river, but the FAA said today since it was the Hudson River, the airplane will probably just dissolve in a week or so.
“And I thought this was nice. US Airways said that each passenger will still get three frequent-flier miles. They will get credit.”

Geithner must go! What happens if you or I “forgot” to pay $30,000 in taxes?
B. Hussein Obama continually promised on the campaign trail that if elected, he would change the way that Washington works. Yes, we shouldn’t pay too much attention to the rhetoric used by a candidate when he is running for office – especially someone like Obama whose Cotton Candy Candidacy was short on specifics and long on meaningless drivel. Lets see the so called “new style” so far. Climate “Czar” Carol Browner and her ties to socialsm, Bill Richardson and his pay to play problem, Chief of State Rahm Emanule’s possible links to BlagObamagate, and of course the Attorney General pick of Eric Holder who pardoneed Marc Rich and Puetro Rican terrorists, during his time under Clinton. But when you consider that the man made such a huge deal about bringing a “new kind of politics” to Washington and reforming the government, Obama’s attachment to Treasury Secretary Designate Timothy Geithner is both puzzling and troubling.
The DC Examiner thinks Geithner should get the hook:
Timothy Geithner, President-elect Barack Obama’s nominee for Secretary of the U.S. Treasury, didn’t pay his federal self-employment taxes for four years because he “forgot.” That is no longer a credible explanation in view of yesterday’s reporting by National Review’s Byron York. The claim that he forgot simply doesn’t square with the fact that for four years Geithner accepted reimbursement from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to cover federal taxes he had not paid, according to Senate confirmation documents examined by York. The IMF is an international agency and as such does not pay federal or state taxes owed by employees who are U.S. citizens.
More specifically, he failed to pay self-employment taxes – Social Security or Medicare – while employed at the IMF until he was audited by the IRS in 2006. At that point, Geithner made good on his 2003 and 2004 obligations, but still failed to pay the amounts due for 2002 and 2001. It was only after he was named by Obama to succeed Henry Paulson at Treasury that Geithner took care of the obligations for 2001 and 2002.This is especially damning because on the IMF’s Annual Tax Allowance Request, Geithner promised to “pay the taxes for which I have received tax allowance payments…” If, as The Wall Street Journal reported, Geithner was told by one of his accountants that he wasn’t obligated to pay the taxes, he shouldn’t have signed the IMF document promising to make the payments. Clearly, he should not have accepted the reimbursements.Geithner also received an annual reminder from the IMF that he was responsible for paying his taxes. He applied for a reimbursement each year from 2001 through 2004, but then pocketed the cash instead of forwarding it to the IRS. Doing so four years in a row is not merely an “honest mistake,” as the Obama transition team maintains.

Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers was invited to speak at Florida State University. The FSU president defended the idea by asserting: “Danger lies not in some speaker’s ideas. Danger lies in teaching students that ideas they don’t agree with are not important.” Sadly, but predictably, conservative ideas with which liberals on FSU’s campus disagree were not important enough to allow within Bill Ayers’ earshot. At the event earlier this week, students and other protesters who objected to Ayers’ speech were hauled off to a separate “free speech zone” to protect Ayers’ supporters from being subjected to dissent.
Obama flipflops yet again: Killing Osama isn’t that important anymore
Did Obama’s muslim faith come back home to roost? Or is he just going to radical left like many figured he would, at least those who didn’t drink the kool-aide with his cabinet picks. Remember at the debate when Obama vowed, “We will kill Bin Laden, we will crush al-Qaeda”? He’s stressed the importance of taking out Osama on other occasions, but never quite as forcefully as that. Why, enter the quote in Google and you’ll find it immortalized in the very first hit with an especially fulsome tribute at the Daily Dish.

Yesterday evening after Michelle Malkin filed her syndicated column on Obama and the Democrats’ first massive tax increase of 2009, the 285-page text of the proposed S-CHIP expansion went online. It’s H.R. 2 and you can read the PDF in its entirety here — something a significant number of congressional members will not do before voting for the behemoth bill. The tax portion of the bill is broken out here (thanks to the Stogie Guys). Pelosi’s press release is here. Every legal tobacco product from premanufactured cigarettes and cigarette papers to cigars to roll-your-cigarettes, pipe tobacco, and smokeless tobacco will be taxed out the wazoo. Take roll-your-own tobacco. It’s currently taxed at $1.0969/lb. The Obama/Democrat S-CHIP plan would hike that to $24.62/lb. Cigarette taxes would rise from $19.50 per thousand to $50.00 per thousand for small cigarettes and from $40.95 per thousand to $105.00 per thousand for large cigarettes.House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refuses to have an open debate on the bill. House GOP leaders lodged a protest. (But remember that 42 Republicans sided with Pelosi last January in a failed attempt to override President Bush’s veto.) So much for transparency and openness. And so much for those promises to provide tax relief to “ordinary Americans.” As usual, Barry O was just blowin’ smoke.

José Serrano introduced HJ Res 5 which i doubt is to allow dubya to run for a third term in office. One week ago, the New York Democrat introduced a measure to repeal the 22nd Amendment, which provides the only term limit on federal office — the Presidency. The amendment, added in 1951, restricts anyone from seeking a third term in office, and Serrano wants that repealed. Why now? Apparently, the notion of Hope and Change has overwhelmed Serrano to the point that he just can’t stand to see Barack Obama limited to two terms in office.

The Pentagon said on Tuesday that 61 former detainees from its military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, appear to have returned to terrorism since their release from custody.
He said the figures, updated at the end of December, showed a higher rate of recidivism than seen in a previous report showing 37 former detainees as active militants.
He provided no details about the detainees or their countries of origin.
“The overall known terrorist re-engagement rate has increased to 11 percent” from about 7 percent, Morrell said.
The numbers were generated by the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency based on fingerprints, photographs and intelligence reports, he said.
President-elect Barack Obama, who takes office on Tuesday, is expected to issue an executive order to close the Guantanamo Bay prison, possibly within his first week in office.
About 255 men are still held at the U.S.-run naval base in Cuba, a symbol of aggressive interrogation methods that exposed the United States to allegations of torture.
Tax rules that apply only to you and me, not Obama’s Treasury Secretary
Democrats are proving to anyone with half a brain cell that they have absolutely no ethical standards or moral codes by which they conduct themselves. If they did, none of them would support or enable those of them who broke those standards or codes. As it is, it seems to be a matter of course that adultery, embezzlement, bribery, tax evasion, and lying are all acceptable behavior for the members of their party. Add to those, hypocrisy; probably the worst of all. As mentioned earlier in the Billary story. It seems like another one of Hussein Obama’s picks is running into problems. Obama must be a real pro at vetting people. And I’m sure the Obama IRS would be as charitable with you or me as Team Obama is being with Timothy Geithner if we used the same explanation for failing to pay self-employment taxes:
President-elect Barack Obama’s choice to run the Treasury Department and lead the economic rescue effort disclosed to senators Tuesday that he failed to pay $34,000 in taxes from 2001 to 2004, a last-minute complication in an otherwise smooth path to confirmation.
Timothy Geithner paid most of the past-due taxes days before Obama announced his nomination in November, an Obama transition official said. The unpaid taxes were discovered by Obama’s transition team while investigating Geithner’s background, the official said.
The transition official requested anonymity because the source was not authorized to discuss Geithner’s situation.
Obama reiterated his support Tuesday for Geithner as senators who are considering the appointment quizzed Geithner behind closed doors.
“He’s dedicated his career to our country and served with honor, intelligence and distinction,” incoming White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said. “That service should not be tarnished by honest mistakes, which, upon learning of them, he quickly addressed.”
Geithner failed to pay self-employment taxes for money he earned while working for the International Monetary Fund from 2001 to 2003, the transition official said. In 2006, the IRS notified him that he owed $14,847 in self-employment taxes and $2,383 in penalties from 2003 and 2004.

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford (R) accused House Democratic Whip James Clyburn (S.C.) of playing the race card instead of explaining increased spending he wants as part of a proposed stimulus package.
In an interview with The Hill, Sanford said Clyburn, the highest-ranking black lawmaker in the House, injected racial politics into their disagreement over what constitutes an earmark by raising questions about Sanford’s wealth and the plantation his family runs.
“He can’t come up with a solid argument” in favor of the earmarks, Sanford said.
President-elect Obama has said he wants a stimulus that is free of earmarks.
Clyburn, in comments made to Roll Call, called for allowing federal money included in the stimulus to be sent back home to lawmakers’ districts. Sanford and others say that’s an end-around that would allow earmarks in the legislation without calling them such.
The money would bypass governors’ offices and instead go straight to communities. Clyburn disagrees with Sanford, who opposes accepting that federal money.
Sanford has said he does not want additional federal funding despite the Palmetto State’s high unemployment rate and poor budget situation. This year, Sanford’s $5.8 billion proposed budget is about $1 billion less than the fiscal 2008 budget.
“[H]e happens to be a millionaire,” Clyburn said of Sanford. “He may not need help for the plantation his family owns, but the people whose grandparents and great-grandparents worked those plantations need the help” in the form of federal money.
By the way, if you have ever had the misfortune of listening to Democrat Rep. James Clyburn speak, you know what a complete moron he is. BTW, does this make me racist?
A Bigger Scoundrel Than Blagojevich
While most everyone’s attention is focused on Governor Rod Blagojevich’s
foibles, it might be useful to take a closer look at George Soros.
Blago’s pay for play schemes are almost innocent when compared to Soros’
workings. His reach is much, much deeper and far more insidious.
The man who helped bring down the Soviet Empire, broke the Bank of England, and
destroyed the Asian financial market has gotten so good at his craft that he may
have pulled off the biggest scam yet–in the U.S.A.
Soros hates America. His stated goal is to burst the “bubble of American
supremacy.” And he has stated he believes the quickest way to accomplish a
feat like this is to arrange for political shake-ups–he calls them “regime
changes”–by encouraging economic chaos.
Think back to the beginnings of our current crisis. Remember IndyMac? Remember
the role Senator Chuck Schumer played in it’s demise? Chuck Schumer has been
associated with Soros for years. As has just about every other Democrat who
played a part in this fiasco.
Soros funds the campaigns of Democrats. He funds far left Democrat
“projects.” And in return he gets government money, the opportunity to
multiply his fortune, and–the piece de resistance–a chance to remodel our
Constitution and destroy our culture. Soros’ goal is to rewrite the
Constitution by 2020. He wants to eliminate our borders and those of every other
country in the world, do away with guns through a world-wide gun ban promoted by
the U.N., legalize illicit drugs, and usher in a world government controlled by
the U.N.
Blago wanted money for appointments? He wanted preferential treatment? Soros
wants to own and run the world. He already owns the Democrat party. He controls
their money. He controls appointments that are made at the highest levels. Have
you wondered why so many Clintonites are showing up in Obama’s cabinet?

Theres rumblings today about Treasury Secretary nominee aka, the man who will be incharge of our taxes Timothy Geithner facing questions over the immigration status of a former housekeeper and whether he paid Social Security and Medicare taxes. And of course theres Billary Hillary Clinton’s continued pay to play problems coming home to roost. Good ole Billary Hillary Clinton goes before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee today to begin her confirmation process, but she’s hardly an unknown quantity. She served in the Senate for eight years, and the tradition of the club dictates an easy and comfortable confirmation process. Perhaps, though, we can hope that one member of the most exclusive political club on Capitol Hill might ask Hillary about her habit of paying back her husband’s donors:

The AP obtained three of the senator’s government letters under the Freedom of Information Act. …
The letters and donations involve pharmaceutical companies and telecommunications and energy interests. An aide to the senator said she made no secret of her involvement in many of the issues. Bill Clinton’s foundation declined to say when it received the donations or precisely how much was contributed.

In what will be a Lincoln-themed inauguration from top to bottom, Obama won’t only follow in the footsteps of the former president – he’ll also eat like him, it was announced yesterday.
Obama’s jampacked Abe-apalooza moved into high gear with an announcement from the Congressional Inaugural Committee that it will hold a luncheon next Tuesday following the swearing-in ceremony that’s modeled after foods Lincoln enjoyed.
The lunch menu is only the latest in a slew of references and tributes to Lincoln that will be folded into Obama’s big day.
Part of the meal will even be served on replicas of the china picked out by First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln at the beginning of her husband’s first term in office in 1861.
The appetizer will feature a seafood stew in puff pastry – including scallops, shrimp and lobster – in honor of Lincoln’s love of seafood.

I told you before that Bill Oreilly and Hussein must have cut some sort of deal to pimp Oreilly’s book (the one you can’t get through a show of Oreilly factor without hearing about 10 times or so). Yet again Billy O cowers to Hussein O, saying in an interview with CNS that “He’s not going to “cheap-shot” Obama by second-guessing the stimulus”. Umm WHAT? This is the same guy that was going on and on about “speculators” back when gasoline was nearly $5/gallon during the summer. The same guy who exposed the Banking Queen, Barney Frank. The same Bill OReilly who regularly describes himself as a “protector of the regular folks”. I think its safe to say that Bill Oreilly is officially Obama’s Bitch (sorry Michelle).

Probably, the only city in America that can give Chicago a ride for most vile, most corrupt. Today comes a new one from Zombie. Never mind the Nazi analogies which are common for this filthy city, they’ve been a staple of this cretinism for years — but now admit this liberal city seems to have even gone anti-Obama. It won’t change mainstream leftists’ minds about Israel, but seeing the Messiah demonized as a “fascist lackey” might give them enough pause at least to take some of the edge off the rhetoric.
