Mitch McConnell – a prime example (other than Dubya or McCain) why the Republican party needs a complete overhaul

Mitch McConnell was on Fox already indicating that all but 2 states are going to get bailed out by the feds. But don’t worry, the money will be spent “judiciously” according to McConnell, as it has with the other stimulus plans the feds have implemented so far. He actually said that. This crap has gone so far now that it really doesn’t matter anymore. I’m going to take care of my family, business, friends, and community as best I can from now on and I really don’t even care about anything these politicians say anymore. They’re now completely irrelevant from my point of view. You know what would almost overnight put this country back on the right track? If even a small but healthy percentage of small business owners such as myself banded together and told the local, state, and federal governments that we are no longer going to play tax collector for them, pay their fees, permits, etc., we could bring them to their knees and force “real” change in this society. It might get to that sooner than later here in California anyway. There’s already talk around business organizations and associations to send IOU’s to Sacramento since they seem to think those are ok. I’m seriously considering paying my employees directly and refusing to collect payroll taxes to see what happens. Who knows, maybe I’ll end up in the news and it will start some momentum. They can’t put us all in the pokey, especially since those are also broke and have no room left!!!

Let the flood begin. Harry Reid has filed Senate Bill 9, the Democrats’ new shamnesty bill. Not much difference in principle between Reid’s bill and McCain-Kennedy-Bush. Disingenuous lip service to immigration enforcement? Check. Path to legalization? Check. La Migra!
There are a few new nuggets from Senate Bill 9 — most notably, open hostility to the Fence in Name Only on our southern border. Quoting from the bill:
And I believe we would be wise to reconsider the effectiveness and cost of a wall along our southern border, which has adversely affected the fragile environment and vibrant cross-border culture of an entire region. Such a wall stands as a symbol of fear and intolerance. This is not what America is about and we can do better.
B. Hussein Obama already ready to talk with Hamas.
Looks like Hussein Obama’s muslim faith, errr Christian faith is coming home to roost. Speak with terrorists, the change we need indeed!

“We must not negotiate with a terrorist group intent on Israel’s destruction. We should only sit down with Hamas if they renounce terrorism, recognize Israel’s right to exist and abide by past agreements.”

The Guardian has spoken to three people with knowledge of the discussions in the Obama camp.
There is no talk of Obama approving direct diplomatic negotiations with Hamas early on in his administration, but he is being urged by advisers to initiate low-level or clandestine approaches, and there is growing recognition in Washington that the policy of ostracising Hamas is counter-productive.
Richard Haass, a diplomat under both presidents Bush who was named by a number of news organisations this week as Obama’s choice for Middle East envoy, supports low level contacts with Hamas provided there is a ceasefire in place and a Hamas-Fatah reconciliation emerges…
Bruce Hoffman, a counterterrorism expert at the Georgetown school of foreign service, said it was unlikely Obama would move to initiate contacts with Hamas unless the radical faction in Damascus was crippled by the conflict in Gaza. “This would really be dependent on Hamas’s military wing having suffered a real, almost decisive, drubbing.”
I bet they feel silly now for unendorsing him.
What’s changed in nine months? For one thing, the ceasefire’s come and gone per Hamas’s choosing, reminding the world yet again that they can’t be ignored. Terrorism works, as Alan Dershowitz likes to say, and never more so than here if the crisis they provoked succeeds in landing them a seat at The One’s table. Beyond that, with the election over, Obama no longer needs Hamas as a fig leaf for his policy of dialogue with Iran. I wrote about this endlessly during the campaign: The three reasons he gave in April for not chatting with them — terrorism, rejectionism, and dealbreaking — apply equally well to Iran, but meeting with Iran is the cornerstone of the foreign policy Change he promised. How then to prove his Zionist credentials to pro-Israel voters? Simple — draw a meaningless artificial distinction between Iran and Hamas based on the fact that one’s a sovereign state and the other isn’t. He’ll talk to terrorist states threatening Israel with nuclear weapons, but terrorist groups threatening them with Qassam rockets? Why, he’s far too much of a Likudnik for that. Except of course he’s not, which is why that meaningless artificial distinction is now reportedly — and quietly — being discarded.
B. Hussein Obama discusses stimulus plan
President-Elect Barack Obama spoke at George Mason University. In the opening comments he refers to this upcoming year as the kind that “come along once in a generation” that mark “a clean break from a troubled past.” Said he doesn’t “believe it’s too late to change course, but it will be if we don’t take dramatic action as soon as possible.” Doom and gloom scenarios follow, if we don’t accept the “dramatic action” P/E Obama is about to propose. But dont feel to bad, Nancy Pelosi promised “No earmarks”.
Barney Frank the Banking Queen at it again – Obama stimulus plan too reliant on tax cuts
Barney Frank Banking Queen never met a government spending program he didn’t like, at least until now. While expressing his overall approval for the scope of Barack Obama’s stimulus proposal, Frank told NPR that it relies too much on tax cuts to stimulate the private sector and not enough on government confiscation of capital for redistribution by Washington elites.
Well, OK, he didn’t quite put it that baldly, but he came close:
House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said Thursday that President-elect Obama’s stimulus plan spends too much money on tax cuts for his taste.
Frank said on NPR’s “Marketplace Morning Report” that he believes the spending package Obama supports will be large enough to help the ailing economy but that he does not entirely agree with how the money will be used.
“I have some difference because I think they may be doing too much tax-cutting and not enough direct spending from the standpoint of immediate job creation,” Frank said.

My god, where is this ever going to end. All the talk about how Sarah Palin was never “vetted” properly during the election, and now yet another Obama staffer Hillary Clinton my be involved in a pay to play scandal of her own? Well I guess thats the democrat way. Hope those Obama vetters are making sure they don’t end up with another Richardson-ian headache. THE CHANGE WE NEED INDEED!
Al Qaeda message blames Obama, Egypt for Gaza violence
An audio message reportedly from al Qaeda’s deputy chief vows revenge for Israel’s air and ground assault on Gaza and calls the Jewish state’s actions against Hamas militants “a gift” from U.S. President-elect Barack Obama.
Al Qaeda’s Ayman al-Zawahiri is said to address Muslims in Gaza in an audio message released Tuesday. The speaker, identified as Ayman al-Zawahiri, addresses Muslims in Gaza. He said the violence “is one part of a series of a crusade war against Islam and these air strikes are a gift from Obama before he takes office, and (Egyptian President) Hosni Mubarak, that traitor, is the main partner in your siege and killing.” The message, posted Tuesday on various Islamist Web sites with a picture of al-Zawahiri next to an image of a wounded child, urges militants to rally against Israel. “My Muslim brothers and mujahedeens in Gaza and all over Palestine, with the help of God we are with you in the battle, we will direct our strikes against the crusader Jewish coalition wherever we can.”

More Obama scandals: Obama took big money from David Rubin, the man at the center of a federal probe in the Richardson “pay to play” scandal
Has ANYONE out there, however old you may be seen as many scandals for a “President Elect” before he even takes the oath of office? One of the key players in the pay-to-play scandal that claimed Bill Richardson’s nomination also donated $3,000 to Obama during election, ABC News reports this morning. David Rubin, the “payer” in the pay-for-play scandal, gave $30,000 to Team Obama during the general election:
President-elect Barack Obama took big money from a man at the center of a federal probe that has forced one of Obama’s top Cabinet picks to withdraw.
Financial records show the Obama campaign got more than $30,000 from California financier David Rubin, the target of an investigation into donations and possible “pay-to-play” deals involving New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, Obama’s pick for commerce secretary. …
In late September, Rubin attended an exclusive Los Angeles fundraiser for Obama, held at the Beverly Hills’ Greystone Mansion. Attendees gave tens of thousands of dollars which the campaign split between its own coffers, the Democratic National Committee and state-level campaign groups supporting Obama and Democratic candidates. The technique helps campaigns take in from individuals far more than the $2,300 maximum they are allowed to give to a single campaign fund.
Rubin’s money went to a joint Obama-DNC fund ($28,500), the DNC itself ($26,200), and to the Obama campaign ($2,300), according to the database of campaign donations at OpenSecrets.Org. News of the federal investigation into Rubin’s New Mexico dealings had broken less than three weeks earlier.

So it should come as no surprise that Obama has picked Communist News Network’s (CNN) Sanjay Gupta to be his Surgeon General. At least it wasn’t Deepak Chopra. What next? Judge Judy for the next Supreme Court opening? Gupta’s claim to fame for the job? Earning a spot on People Magazine’s 2003 “sexiest man alive” section. You go Gupta. BTW, I don’t particularly see whats so “sexy” about him. Maybe someone out there can tell me exactly whats so “sexy” about him?
BlagObamagate: Proof Obama lied about no Blago contact?
Where theres smoke theres fire. Judicial Watch claims today that they have documented proof that Barack Obama lied when he said he had no contacts with Rod Blagojevich. The letter they gained from a Freedom of Information query certainly does show that Obama acknowledged meeting with Blagojevich, but it falls far short of indicating any sort of discussion on replacing Obama in the Senate:
Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained documents from the office of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich through the Freedom of Information Act related to Blagojevich’s contacts with President-elect Obama and his transition team. The documents include a December 3, 2008, letter from Barack Obama following his December 2, 2008, meeting with Blagojevich as well as a November 17, 2008, letter signed by Presidential Transition Team co-chairs Valerie Jarrett and John Podesta providing Blagojevich with a list of transition team contacts.
The following are excerpts from the letter signed by President-elect Obama on December 3, 2008, less than one week before authorities arrested Blagojevich for attempting to “sell” Obama’s now-vacant Senate seat, among other corruption charges …
“These documents tend to undermine Obama’s claims that he had no contact with Blagojevich and suggest his transition is hiding documents about such contacts,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Why did President-elect Obama not release this letter? What else is he hiding?”
Proof that the UN is harboring terrorists
As usual Michelle Malkin has the details about the truth about the so called the UN school that was allowing terrorists to attack Israeli troops from its grounds. Of course the headlines in the liberal biased MSM today was just “Israel attacks UN school”, heres what they didn’t tell you:
An Israeli official says Palestinian militants fired on Israeli soldiers from the courtyard of a U.N. school where dozens of people died in fiery explosions.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he said the army is still drafting the country’s official response to the incident.
Palestinian medics said 34 people were killed in an Israeli strike outside a U.N. school in the northern Gaza town of Jebaliya. The United Nations confirmed 30 were killed and 55 injured.
The Israeli official said “hostile fire” was directed at the soldiers from within the school. He said soldiers returned fire and multiple explosions went off, presumably emanating from munitions stored there.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the first incident of terrorists using innocents as human shields. Hamas members were reported to have been dressing up as doctors and nurses in hospitals in order to protect themselves. Michelle also links to this from the 2006 war.

Reid denies Burris – tells Coleman its time to go!

No Pain-Free Cure for Recession
All the Obama lovers thinking the Messiah will suddenly fix the economy when he takes off on the 20th, pay their mortgages and fill their gas tanks are in for a rude awakening. As recession fears cause the nation to embrace greater state control of the economy and unimaginable federal deficits, one searches in vain for debate worthy of the moment. Where there should be an historic clash of ideas, there is only blind resignation and an amorphous queasiness that we are simply sweeping the slouching beast under the rug.
DENIED! Senate denies Burris
No dramatic standoff at the chamber door, alas. The deed was done quietly in the Senate secretary’s office, the absence of the secretary of state’s signature on the appointment being the casus belli. Franken won’t be seated today either, but since his victory’s (almost) a fait accompli, he can afford to stay away and spare Reid the angst. Burris’s chances are dicier so he has to push — but he might have pushed too hard:
The staffers said the tenor of the Burris-Reid meeting on Wednesday will depend on Burris’s actions on Tuesday. Some Democrats have become exasperated by Burris’s aggressive approach and repeated references to race…
“If you embarrass someone in public and cause a scene one day, your meeting with that person typically doesn’t go well the next day,” one senior aide said. “How can he expect to be a respected legislator who will get help with his agenda if he’s using threats and lawsuits to force his way into the chamber?”…
Meanwhile, a senior Democratic aide said efforts by [Rep. Bobby] Rush to win support for Burris behind the scenes seem to have met with limited success, as the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) does not appear to be rallying behind Burris. One aide said Rush’s use of racial rhetoric at Burris’s press conference last month hurt the effort more than it helped.
“There is a sense that Rush is largely alone,” the aide said. “He kind of sealed his fate with his incendiary talk.”
Of course, I already mentioned how i found it odd that none of the 3 black candidates that were considered for the seat would be allowed by racist pig Harry Reid. Now the race issue is heating up. Jesse Jackson Junior, who should be very familar with racism, because his father is a racist is starting to about the issue becoming “racialized.”
A bit of good news. Jeb Bush doesn’t plan to run for senate in 2010.
At least as of today. Thank god for little favors. NO MORE BUSHES PLEASE! The St. Petersburg Times heard rumblings this morning, and now here’s the quake.
Nothing’s easy anymore.
While I will always have more than fond memories of my years in public office and was humbled by the outpouring of support I received over the last few weeks, now is not my time to be running for office. To sum it up, in the words of Dr. Stephen Covey, I have decided to put “First Things First”.
I will continue to stay involved in the advocacy of a vibrant, growing Republican Party and with it, 21st Century conservative solutions to the challenges we face.

Christine Gregoire to replace Richardson?
I goes from bad to worse with these Obama cabinet picks. Some are funny, some are dowright pathetic (such as the head of the CIA pick and Eric Holder). This one may be the icing on the cake. Pacific Northwest blogs lit up with rumors tonight that Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire is headed to D.C. to take Bill Richardson’s place as Commerce Secretary nominee.
Denials all around, but eyebrows still raised:
Gov. Christine Gregoire is out of state, but her office won’t say where she is or what she is doing — other than to say she’s not going to work for President-elect Obama.
Gregoire’s mysterious absence left local political blogs buzzing this afternoon with speculation that she could be in Washington, D.C., preparing to accept a job with the Obama administration.
Gregoire was on a plane to D.C. on Sunday morning. But Marty Brown, Gregoire’s legislative liaison, said the governor’s trip has nothing to do with a job in the new administration.
Speculation about Gregoire’s whereabouts started after her office called The Associated Press on Monday afternoon to cancel her planned speech Tuesday at a pre-legislative session forum sponsored by the news agency.
Some kind of announcement is expected tomorrow. Maybe she’s just playing coy until Obama’s crack staff of vetters finishes shuffling through the paperwork. Or maybe it’s part of a bigger Obama initiative to fork over federal aid to states.
Wishful thinking: Maybe she’s going to recommend that other governors do as she’s doing and consider quicker criminal alien deportations that will make their states safer and save them money in hard economic times.
Orbusmax and Sound Politics are tracking. The Tacoma News-Tribune says it’s related to federal money for Seattle’s Alaskan Way Viaduct and possibly more federal stimulus money:
One of my sources said he couldn’t tell me where Gov. Chris Gregoire is now, but assured me she would still be my governor in March. “She’s not going to take Bill Richardson’s place as Commerce Secretary. So you can kill that story.”
But he wouldn’t tell me anything else. And the governor is supposed to announce “something big” at 10:05 a.m. tomorrow.
Another source speculated that Gregoire has lined up a big chunck of federal money for Seattle’s Alaskan Way Viaduct, and she’s going to announce it Tuesday. (And it would have to be a big chunk because that project keeps getting more and more expensive.)
It could be broader than that. Democratic governors are set to meet again with Obama this week about the stimulus package. Gregoire has been active in pushing for a large boost to state’s with shovel-ready projects but there is no word as to whether she will be part of any meeting.
