Nine Muslims kicked off AirTran flight
AirTran may face a lawsuit after denying nine Muslims the chance to fly after an overhead remark from one forced the pilot to delay the flight and rescreen the passengers. The airline apparently refused to rebook the passengers even after being cleared by the FBI, at least according to one of the nine:
Nine Muslim passengers were kicked off a flight from Washington, D.C., to Florida after other passengers reported hearing a suspicious remark about airplane security.
AirTran Airways spokesman Tad Hutcheson called the incident on the New Year’s Day flight from Reagan National Airport to Orlando, Fla., a misunderstanding, but defended the company’s response. He said the airline followed federal rules and did nothing wrong.
One of the Muslim passengers, Kashif Irfan, told The Washington Post the confusion began when his brother was talking about the safest place to sit on an airplane.
“My brother and his wife were discussing some aspect of airport security,” Irfan said. “The only thing my brother said was, ‘Wow, the jets are right next to my window.”‘
Irfan told the newspaper he thought he and the others were profiled because of their appearance. The men had beards and the women wore headscarves, traditional Muslim attire.
Hussein Obama and surrogates excuses for lack of comments on Israel/Gaza conflict – Obama’s not president yet
Liza Porteus Viana at AOL’s Political Machine produces a round-up of blogospheric and media reactions to the deafening silence coming from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on Israel’s operations in Gaza. Obama has kept a low profile in Hawaii during the holidays, expect when posing for manboobs pictures, and gang banger poses with his Chicago WhiteSox cap backwards. And even when conducting business, has limited himself to discussing Cabinet appointments and refrained from most policy discussions, especially on foreign affairs. The fact that he’s not yet President has sunk in with Obama, but not the Obamaniacs around the world:
Connecticut newspaper bailouts next?
From banks, to the auto industry, to….. NEWSPAPERS?
Michelle Malkin launched the Newspaper Bailout Countdown Clock on Nov. 11, reported on Connecticut’s move to prop up ailing dead-tree dailies on Dec. 1, and followed up with a column on the coming government rescues for the MSM on Dec. 3. And now, here comes Reuters, heralding the new year with this: Government aid could save U.S. newspapers, spark debate.
Connecticut lawmaker Frank Nicastro sees saving the local newspaper as his duty. But others think he and his colleagues are setting a worrisome precedent for government involvement in the U.S. press.
Nicastro represents Connecticut’s 79th assembly district, which includes Bristol, a city of about 61,000 people outside Hartford, the state capital. Its paper, The Bristol Press, may fold within days, along with The Herald in nearby New Britain.
That is because publisher Journal Register, in danger of being crushed under hundreds of millions of dollars of debt, says it cannot afford to keep them open anymore.
Nicastro and fellow legislators want the papers to survive, and petitioned the state government to do something about it. “The media is a vitally important part of America,” he said, particularly local papers that cover news ignored by big papers and television and radio stations.
To some experts, that sounds like a bailout, a word that resurfaced this year after the U.S. government agreed to give hundreds of billions of dollars to the automobile and financial sectors.
The last dubya Bush hating terrorist
Not quite a shoe-thrower, but much worse. A Bush-deranged bomber in Aspen, Colorado, killed himself in a botched bank robbery/mass murder attempt. The profanity-laced suicide note is here. Well, I hope its the last. Theres still almost 3 weeks to go before Hussein takes over. After he officially becomes president, what will happen to all those liberals who blame every last global problem and economic inequity on dubya, Rove, and Cheney? Once something happens after the 20th, is it still dubya’s fault? Via RMN:

Bobby Rush – former black panther hypocrite!
It seems Bobby Rush is suddenly a fan of Blago. Bobby Rush, back for a bottom-feeding encore after yesterday’s bravura performance at the presser. Only a neo-segregationist would oppose the Senate’s only black member, says a guy who himself endorsed a white Democrat in the Senate primary four years ago over his old nemesis, Barack Obama. He called Blago’s actions “heinous” on December 9th, and agreed with Democratic consensus that he shouldn’t make the appointment before instantly reversing himself yesterday in the interests of racial solidarity. Obama has political capital to spare and multiple reasons here to spend it — tactically, to give Senate Democrats cover and burnish his credentials as the post-racial president, and personally, given his long rivalry with Rush. He should step up and lay this turd out. He’d have plenty of support based on early indications. Watch the video below:
Bobby Rush – From Blago being heinous, to “All these folks who are opposed to Governor Blagojevich, they need to take a chill pill.”
All Votes Are In: Cable News Claims Huge Victory in 2008 and guess who came out #1?
Those who claim Fox News is nothing more than some right wing conspiracy channel either need to stop watching the channel, or come to the realization that Fox News is simply the only network without a completely liberal biased “staff”. Fox News remained the undisputed news champ. Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes’s network celebrated its seventh consecutive year as the cable-news rating leader in primetime and total day among viewers and the key 25-to-54 demographic. And 2008 was Fox News’s highest-rated year ever in both total day and primetime. The dominant all-news network saw its primetime average grow 41% from 2007 to 2.059 million viewers last year, almost as many as CNN and MSNBC combined. In terms of household primetime ratings in 2008, Fox News ranked No. 4 among all cable networks with a 1.7 average, up 31% from 2007, according to Disney ABC Television Group analysis of Nielsen data. Maybe if Sean Hannity or Bill Oreilly would have announced they get a tingling sensation up their legs in regard to John McCain or Sarah Palin, the ratings would have done better. Congrats Fox News! LOL @ the you CNN and MSNBC.
