Are you an Angry Renter? Sign the Petition to Congress (62,000 signatures so far!)

Look at this chart, via AngryRenter.com. While ACORN and the housing entitlement mob get all the press, look who’s not getting attention.

Now, here’s some feedback in response to Michelle Malkin’s appearance on FNC’s Neil Cavuto show this afternoon in support of renters (self included) who are getting the shaft from the housing entitlement-mongers:

From reader Sean…

Michelle,

I just saw you on Cavuto and had to write. Thank you for being someone who actually gets it. Both my wife and I enjoy your commentary. My wife and I were married in 2006 and currently rent an apartment in Columbia, MO. Our rent is cheap and we were going to buy a house when we got married but figured we would be responsible and save our money for a large down payment. We have held off buying a home because we felt the need to be financially sound and have an investment into our home. Neither of us have any debt, my MBA is paid for, and we have saved enough for a large down payment. We are now ready to buy a home, only to realize we are getting screwed by our government. It’s a sad day when those who are not responsible are rewarded for being complete dolts! Anyways….we’ll make it. Thanks for sticking up for us.

From reader Randy…

Michelle,

Thank you for saying on national TV what I have not heard anyone else say. My wife and I made a personal decision to not buy a home, because we knew we could not afford one. My wife and I rent, and are aggressively trying to get out of debt from when we were both in college. She is a pre-school teacher, and i work for the local Republican Party. We looked at purchasing a home, but decided we wanted to be able to put at least 10% down. Our combined income is less than $55,000 a year. We both work hard. We both expect to pay taxes, but we don’t think it is right to have to bail others out who made bad decisions. Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

Who is out there speaking on behalf of us working, trying to live what we perceive to be the American Dream, which is not living off of government hand outs. We appreciate your message, and encourage you to continue taking every opportunity to get the message out.

Thank God somebody is beginning to organize against all this bailout nonsense. I AM ONE ANGRY RESPONSIBLE PERSON WHO HAS TAKEN CARE OF MYSELF IN GOOD TIMES AND BAD.

This is above and beyond my responsibility to accept payment to those who refuse to live within their limits. If they are too ignorant to handle whatever money they had, then giving them more doesn’t help anyone!

What they need to be required to do is take a class on learning to live within their means and manage on what they have.

I know! All my life my mother taught me this….and now as a senior citizen I intended to enjoy my savings — NOT SEE IT GO TO WASTE ON OTHERS WHO REFUSED TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS!

I want to sign the petition! Where do I locate it!

    Thanks!

I,too,am angry at all this redistribution of wealth. My husband and I have to live with my parents because we can’t even afford rent. This is our 2nd marriage and we have 4 kids between us. My husband is a firefighter and I am an x-ray tech,so we make decent money. When we got married in 2004 we tried to find a house and we could have gotten one of those crooked mortgages, but we sat down and figured out there was no way we could afford it. We could pay the mortgage and maybe some bills, but there was no money left for food and clothes. It just isn’t fair that now I have to bail other people out who made the mistake that I did not. Thank God I have great parents who wanted me to be able to save for a good down payment, but at the same time they have to deal with us when they are supposed to be enjoying there retirement. I just want to know am I going to get help when I’m ready to buy my house. I feel like that dream is slipping. We have lost so much money in the market that I feel like I am statrting over for my down payment. It’s just not fair. Angry in New York,Laura

God bless all those who work hard. I feel our country is in the midst of committing suicide and ruining the principles that it was founded on. I see corruption, abuse of power, greed, etc. What horrible examples to pass on to our children. If you can’t afford it, don’t buy it! If you bought it and can’t afford it, let it go. If you take a loss, that’s your lesson in life. Vehicles are repossessed if you don’t make your payments. Live within your means. That’s Life!

My husband and I were homeowners until 2005. We paid our mortgage payments on time every month just like we were supposed to. It wasn’t always easy but we never missed a payment. We are now renters and resent the fact that we, our 16-month-old grandson & our one month old granddaughter are being told we will be making their payments for the rest of our lives. That stinks.

    Love,In Christ,
    Colleen

I’m mad as h*ll at the hyprocrite-in-chief (he doesn’t deserve capital letters any more).
When are all the rest of us that play by the rules gonna get a break.

I am a home owner and now I wish I was a renter instead. All these people move in with no money to these townhomes and then end up not paying the maintenance fee or their water/sewer bills and all they do is complain. If they don’t pay the fee, they should not complain. POA’s and HOA’s are really in debt because people can’t pay. If you can’t afford it when property taxes, or mortgages increase, then go out and rent.
