Andrea Mitchell is at it again: Public will blame the GOP for bringing down tax cheat Tom Daschle
The old washed up hag that just wouldn’t quit. During MSNBC’s live coverage on Tuesday of the sudden resignation of Health and Human Services nominee Tom Daschle, reporter Andrea Mitchell suggested to Republican Senator Jim DeMint that the American public will see this as the GOP having “brought him [Daschle] down.” The Democratic nominee resigned over a growing controversy which revealed that the former Senate majority leader owed $140,000 in back taxes. (He has since paid them.) Andrea Mitchell sympathetically described talking to the ex-senator: “I just got off the phone with Tom Daschle. And it was an emotional conversation. He was clearly- it sounded as though he were tearful, overwrought.” Awww. Don’t you feel so sorry for the tax cheat? Everyone try and not cry yourself to sleep tonight. A partial transcript of two of Mitchell’s exchanges, which began at 12:53pm, follows:

Most ethical congress ever: “Chris Dodd’s Mortgage Nirvana”
Senatorial perks. Ain’t they grand? Loan Zen breaks down the little bit of information Sen. Dodd deigned to release yesterday:
So let’s ponder this scenario friends. You’re the head of one of the most powerful committees in the world. You get a sweetheart deal from the tannest man in America on not one but two mortgages. Someone discloses the “less than fair” deal after the market turns to pixy dust. You throw a news conference admitting you’re wrong and that you’ll make it better by refi-ing out. You go ahead and refinance at market historic lows — paying 2 points on both deals — at the rate of 4.375% for a 30 year fixed loan. You walk away saving $7,325.69 per year on your mortgages. Now this is a beautiful country.
$246 million bailout for hollywood goes byebye, just another 1 billion needed!
Shocking. The vote just wrapped up on GOP Sen. Tom Coburn’s amendment striking $246 million in special tax breaks for the film industry.
Only $1 trillion in ill-considered, pork-laden generational theft left to kill.
Kill the bill. Stab it. Stick a fork in it. And start from scratch.
Is the honeymoon over? Porkulus bill rapidly losing support according to the latest Gallup poll
Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid counted on a significant honeymoon period after the inauguration to ensure passage of their bloated Generational Theft Act, or as they call it, the “stimulus” package. After forcing the bill through the House without allowing any Republican input on its makeup, the bill has landed in a more hostile Senate, where even Democrats wonder aloud how many votes it will get in its present form. They seem to have their fingers on the pulse of America, because according to the latest Gallup poll, the honeymoon has already ended:
A strong majority of Americans (75%) want Congress to pass some version of President Obama’s economic stimulus plan, but this group is split down the middle on whether it should be passed as is or with major changes.
Naturally, support for the plan is highly partisan. Although few Republicans favor passing the plan as it is, more than 4 out of 10 say it should be passed with major changes, leaving only a minority of 35% of Republicans who say the plan should be rejected altogether. A majority of Democrats, on the other hand, say Obama’s plan should be passed as is. Independents mirror the attitudes of the nation as a whole, split down the middle about passing it as is or with major changes.
Not one but TWO tax cheats go byebye from B. Hussein Obama’s cabinet. Tom Daschle tax cheat and also Nancy Killefer is the latest tax cheat to go goodnight now!
Tom Daschle in 1998: “Make no mistake, tax cheaters cheat us all, and the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter. ” (Video Link)
I guess the statement is really a fact. Democrats don’t care about raising taxes since THEY DONT PAY ANY ANYWAY! The total of tax cheats nominated by B. Hussein Obama is now at 3 (which i’m sure is more, you just may never hear a word about them).
Tom Daschle the $140,000 tax cheat today withdrew his HHS nomination. President Obama accepts the withdrawal “with sadness and regret.” Regret that Daschle’s serial evasions caught up with him. Sadness that he didn’t get the Geithner treatment. DLTDHYOTWO!
Obama said Tuesday he accepted the withdrawal “with sadness and regret.”
Daschle has been battling for his nomination since it was disclosed he failed to pay more than $120,000 in taxes.
Aside from Daschle, it also seems another democrat tax cheat crook, Nancy Killefer, who failed for a year and a half to pay employment taxes on household help, has withdrawn her candidacy to be the first chief performance officer for the federal government, the White House said Tuesday. He said he’s withdrawing because he’s not a leader who has the full faith of Congress and will be a distraction.
Lets examine the cabinet picks so far: Bill Richardson (pay for play scandal, forced to withdrawl), Tim Geithner (now head of the IRS – tax cheat), Eric Holder (now attorney general – terrorist pardoner), Tom Daschle ($140,000 tax cheat, forced to resign), Nancy Killefer (tax cheat, forced to resign).
HOPE AND CHANGE!
Pork: The other stimulus meat: Sen. Mikulski pitches dumb car-loan stimulus again
It seems Democrat Sen. Barbara Mikulski is trying to attach her moronic car-loan stimulus plan again to the Senate version of the Generationl Theft Act of 2009. Doesn’t the auto industry have enough of our money already?
Michelle Malkin nominated it for a Dumb Idea of the Day in last November:
Maryland Democrat Sen. Barbara Mikulski just wrapped up her pitch for another temporary stimulus gimmick — short-term tax incentives to car buyers. Unfortunately, she got Missouri GOP Sen. Kit Bond to co-sponsor this $2-3 billion feel-good amendment.
Under the bill she plans to introduce in a coming lame-duck session, interest payments on car loans, and sales and excise taxes would be tax-deductible, Mikulski said. The program, which would apply to new vehicles purchased through the end of 2009, would be part of legislation designed to stimulate the economy.
…Mikulski estimated that under her proposal, buyers of a $25,000 Dodge minivan would save $1,553. The incentives would apply to loans of up to $49,500. Households with incomes above $250,000 would not be eligible.
The estimated the cost of the proposal would be between $2 billion and $3 billion, she said.
Three quick points:
1) Now, these same Democrats who scream about global warming want Americans to buy more cars?
2) If they think these tax incentives are such good ideas, go ahead and make them permanent. Go. Ahead.
3) Spending beyond our means is what got this country into trouble in this first place. This kind of temporary political gimmickry is going to exacerbate the problem. Encouraging people to take out $50,000 car loans before the end of the year when they should be saving their money instead?
Brilliant.
A great new site that truely exposes the Porkulus Bill – Stimuluswatch.org
If you want to read about the joke of the Porkulus bill and its project, without sifting through the 600 pages written by Nancy Pelosi, I suggest visiting Stimuluswatch.org. Just look at all the “essentials” needed to stimulate the economy! I mean how can Mississippi survive for instance without $100,000 in doorbells?
Terrorist pardoner Eric Holder confirmed.
But don’t worry. He’s a good “listener”.
Screw up, move up. Eric Holder sailed through.
Senate voted 75-21. All NAYS were Republicans.
Stand by for roll call vote. Nearly 20 Bend Over Republicans joined Dems to confirm. Voting yes: GOP Sen. Kit Bond. Why? Because Holder is a “good listener:”
A group of nearly 20 GOP senators joined all Democrats in supporting his nomination to lead President Obama’s Justice Department. Twenty-one Republicans voted against his confirmation.
…Sen. Kit Bond (R-Mo.) had seriously considered voting against Holder but eventually supported him.
“I found Mr. Holder to be a good listener, which is an important prerequisite for any good leader,” said Bond, the ranking Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee. “I believe him when he says that he’s willing to take good ideas from wherever they come.”
Bombshell! (or suicide bomb): B. Hussein Obama advisors have been meeting with Iran, Syria since before the election
[E]ven before winning the November 4 election, Obama unofficially used what experts call “track two” discussions to approach America’s two foes in the region.
Nuclear non-proliferation experts had several “very, very high-level” contacts in the last few months with Iranian leaders, said Jeffrey Boutwell, executive director for the US branch of the Pugwash group, an international organization of scientists which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1995.
The Pugwash official declined to name the other participants, except to say they had considerable clout.
Bank of America gives Acorn 2 million dollars!
Yet another timely reminder to GOP Senators: Government bailouts = Left-wing boondoggles. It’s true of the Generational Theft Act of 2009. It was true of the banking bailouts last year.
Dan Mitchell of Cato sends the following new tidbit about bailout beneficiary Bank of ACORN and fraud racketeer ACORN:

Rep. Eshoo to push for Fairness Doctrine
Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, D-Palo Alto, said Monday she will work to restore the Fairness Doctrine and have it apply to cable and satellite programming as well as radio and TV.
“I’ll work on bringing it back. I still believe in it,” Eshoo told the Daily Post in Palo Alto.
The Fairness Doctrine required TV and radio stations to balance opposing points of view. It meant that those who disagreed with the political slant of a commentator were entitled to free air time to give contrasting points of view, usually in the same time slot as the original broadcast.
John Ziegler – creator of How Obama got Elected video gets crapped on by The View hags
What do you get when you mix John Ziegler with The View? About what you’d expect. It’s worth a look for sheer entertainment value, as people might have taken bets on when Joy Behar’s head would explode. Funniest moment: Barbara Walters insisting that Captain Uh would have been equally criticized for fumbling an interview:
Ziegler is the creator of the How Obama got Elected video.
Chris Dodd “releases” financial documents that public cannot view
Chris Dodd’s announcement that he will be refinancing his sweetheart mortgages: It seems he compiled an “independent” report that — surprise! — absolves him of any wrongdoing. And in response to pressure that he release his financial records to the public, Sen. Dodd “released” about 100 pages of information to members of the press…who weren’t allowed to copy them and could only take notes for a short period before returning them.
Ain’t The Age of Disclosure and Transparency grand?
Via the Hartford Courant:
In response to pressure since last year that he demonstrate his full relationship with home mortgage lender Countrywide Financial, Sen. Chris Dodd release his 2003 mortgage documents today in Connecticut. “I regret I did not do this sooner and I apologize to the people of Connecticut for the delay,” he said in a statement.
After having been accused of taking part in a special VIP program with the lender — now owned by Bank of America — he has steadily insisted that he received no special treatement because of his Senate status. But though he had promised to release documentation last year, he had then said he would postpone doing so until the Senate ethics panel had a chance to review the accusations against him. Then, he apparently changed his mind again.
Dodd said again today, “There was nothing special about the rates, fees, or points. We were never offered special or sweetheart deals and if anyone had made such an offer, we would have severed that relationship immediately.”
Dodd released more than 100 pages of documents, which he said were also provided to the ethics committee…
….these documents were only made available to members of the media at today’s session. They were allowed to review the documents and take notes but not to take copies with them.
Irony: Tax cheat Tom Daschle 1998 statement about…… Tax cheats!
Lets play Back to the Future today. I mean, its only 6 years until 2015, and the famous movie’s travels between 1985 and 2015 were funny at the time. Except there are no flying cars, hoverboards, and the Cubs will never win the world series. Anyway, this time we will go back to 1998, and someone uttered the following statement.. See if you can guess who it was:
“Make no mistake, tax cheaters cheat us all, and the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter. ”
Incase you don’t remember 11 years ago, the one who made this statement, was none other than current tax cheat Tom Daschle, up for B. Hussein Obama’s Secretary of Health and Human Services. Fast forward to today, Feb 2, 2009. This is the same Tom Daschle who today has to pay another $6000 in taxes, that in addition to the $140,000 in back taxes and interest he paid on Jan. 2
Lets also mention a classic headline in today’s Washington Post regarding Daschle’s tax problems:
Daschle Faces Questions From Senators on Tax Glitch
Ummm. GLITCH??? Liberals not only raise taxes because they dont pay any, but they are now trying to re-define words too? How long until the new Obama dictionary?
Even Obama radio fails!
The cult of personality appears to have ebbed a bit since Barack Obama had to begin governing two weeks ago. The Washington DC radio station calling itself Obama 1260 and featuring liberal talk stalwarts Bill Press, Ed Schultz, and Stephanie Miller has given up the ghost already, a victim of undetectable ratings. Howard Kurtz notes that not all political radio has that problem:
President Obama may be riding high in Washington, but OBAMA 1260 is not.
The area’s only progressive talk station is changing formats, dropping such syndicated liberal hosts as Ed Schultz, Stephanie Miller and Bill Press in favor of financial news, starting next week.
The move by Redskins owner Dan Snyder, who purchased the station, WWRC, and others in Washington last summer, leaves the city without a liberal radio outlet. Program Director Greg Tantum says he thought the station could work because of enthusiasm over Obama, but that ratings collapsed to a level that could not be measured after the election.
But ratings nearly doubled, he says, at Snyder’s conservative station, WTNT, which features Laura Ingraham and Bill Bennett.
B. Hussein Obama to meet with Hugo Chavez?!?
Seems good ole terrorist lover B. Hussein Obama is wasting no time in meeting with dirtbags, terrorists, and dictators. Of course, B. Hussein Obama’s aspirations to be dictator of the U.S. are in full flow with whats going on with the porkulus bill, so why should I be surprised? Call it the first fruits of Barack Obama’s boast in the July 2007 YouTube debate. Obama will meet one-fifth of that obligation in April, when he will apparently meet with Venezuelan dictator-wannabe Hugo Chavez in Trinidad:
United States President, Barack Obama will have a face-to-face meeting with his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez in April in Port of Spain, when the two leaders will be among three dozen heads of government and state at the three day Summit of the Americas.
This information was confirmed by Summit Secretariat Communications Co-ordinator, Felipe Noguera.
Top of the agenda of the Summit will be burning energy issues in which both the United States and Venezuela have a keen interest.
The Trinidad Express reported that Noguera told newsmen that Secretariat Chairman, Ambassador Carlos Luis Alberto Rodriguez indicated that Venezuela and the USA were at loggerheads on energy issues to be highlighted in the Declaration of Port of Spain. The declaration — outlining policy goals in coming years for the 34 countries in the Americas in the fields of energy, education, environment and health — will be signed by the leaders during the April 17-19 summit.
Mr. Manboobs Obama calls Jessica Simpson fat
With Kentucky citizens still suffering, freezing, and without power, with the liberal left planning to spend this country in oblivion, and all the other problems in the world, yesterday’s Super Bowl pregame softball interview of B. Hussein Obama shows the total class of Mr. Manboobs, or as some in the press have put it of Manboobs Obama: “The sun glinted off chiseled pectorals sculpted during four weightlifting sessions each week, and a body toned by regular treadmill runs and basketball games.” Heres a snipette from the interview:
LAUER: You got replaced by Jessica Simpson.
OBAMA: Yeah, who’s losing a weight battle apparently. (LAUGHTER) Yeah. Oh, well.
Tsk Tsk Mr. President. Whats next? A your mama joke? Or maybe Mr. Manboobs Obama can write another skit on SNL mocking David Paterson’s blindness.
Rush Limbaugh’s quote of the day
“I am being used to distract from the polls [Rasmussen] showing falling support for the Porkulus bill. Senate Republicans need to understand that this is also about intimidating them, especially after the show of unity in the House. It is about the 2010 and 2012 elections. This is an opportunity for Republicans to redefine themselves after a few years of wandering aimlessly looking for a ‘brand’ and identity.”
Obama’s Steelers win the Superbowl
Now maybe he will actually get to work. BTW, congrats to B. Hussein Obama on being thanked by the owner of the Steelers, Art Rooney! Real man of genius! Is this what this country has come to? A team wins a championships and it’s owner first thanks the President thats been in office less than 2 weeks?
SNL makes fun of David Paterson’s blindness again
Here’s why I don’t worry about being sent to hell for my atheism; I’m destined to end up there anyway for laughing at stuff like this. It’s not so much the gags that make it funny as the pure shock of seeing them revisit this joke after they took so much heat the first time around for goofing on his disability, including from Paterson himself. There’s an inspired randomness to the impression, too. Except for his blindness, he’s a nondescript figure, yet someone on staff somehow got the idea to play him as a sort of Borscht belt comedian. It’d be like turning the governor of Maine into a Don Rickles-ish insult comic. Absurd, but that’s why it works.
