Palin stiffs the House Republicans

ABC News’ Jonathan Karl reports: When House Republicans planned their annual winter retreat, they extended an invitation to Alaska Gov. Sara Palin, hoping the party’s 2008 vice presidential nominee would give a morale-building speech to the more than 130 Republican members of Congress gathered this weekend in Hot Springs, Va.

Retreat organizers tell ABC News that Palin politely declined, giving a perfectly understandable reason.  According to the Congressional Institute, which hosted the conference, Palin said she simply could not make it to the retreat because pressing state business made it impossible for her to leave Alaska this weekend.

So where is Palin this weekend?  She’s in Washington, D.C., attending the super-elite Alfalfa Dinner.

“She lied to us,” said a Republican at the retreat.

The same stimulus that head RINO John McCain opposes for its porkiness?

Most Republican governors have broken with their GOP colleagues in Congress and are pushing for passage of President Barack Obama’s economic aid plan that would send billions to states for education, public works and health care.

Their state treasuries drained by the financial crisis, governors would welcome the money from Capitol Hill, where GOP lawmakers are more skeptical of Obama’s spending priorities.

The 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, planned to meet in Washington this weekend with Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and other senators to press for her state’s share of the package.

Well Miss-Alaska, you just lost my vote for 2012.

Yes we can! (Censor America) – Rush Derangement Syndrome

Michelle Malkin interviewed Rush Limbaugh for a special Sunday piece for the New York Post about President Obama’s attack on him (and, by extension of course, talk radio and grass-roots conservatism). The Post titled the piece, “The Rush Revival.” But it’s more accurately the anti-Rush revival and the Rush Survival. As you’ll see, one of my main points is how using Rush as a left-wing bogeyman — and failing to bring him down — is as old as the hills.

One aspect of Rush Derangement Syndrome she didn’t have more room to cover in the piece was the contempt for Rush and talk radio among Beltway establishment Republicans and elitists on the center/Right. shes blogged extensively about talk radio-bashing hypocrites such as P.J. O’Rourke, Phil Gramm, Lindsay “Go away, Loud Folks” Graham, and Trent Lott. She asked Rush to diagnose their pathology. “I think they all crave acceptance and inclusion in the dominant political and social cultures of Washington, which is run by the Left. They fastest way to do that is to be critical of their own party. This gets them loving treatment in ‘important’ New York/Washington media circles,” he said.
