Maybe the Gitmo isn’t to bad afterall, or does Hussein equal Bush? – Detainees have “no constitutional rights”

Detainees being held at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan cannot use US courts to challenge their detention, the US says.

The justice department ruled that some 600 so-called enemy combatants at Bagram have no constitutional rights.

Most have been arrested in Afghanistan on suspicion of waging a terrorist war against the US.

The ruling has disappointed human rights lawyers who had hoped the Obama administration would take a different line to that of George W Bush.

Prof Barbara Olshansky, the lead counsel in a legal challenge on behalf of four Bagram detainees, told the BBC the justice department’s decision not to reform the rules was both surprising and “enormously disappointing”.

The exact quote from the Barack Obama-era Department of Justice?  “Having considered the matter, the government adheres to its previously articulated position.”  The DoJ and the DoD consider Bagram detainees “unlawful combatants” without any rights to access the US court system and with no recourse for release.

Just as it did in the George Bush administration.  Remember how the Left considered Bush a war criminal for taking this exact position?  I’d like to see how they square the circle with Obama now.  A few like Glenn Greenwald will rip Obama on principle, but the rest will suddenly discover the reasonableness of detaining terrorists and treating them not like burglars but like enemy combatants who have themselves violated Geneva Conventions through their terrorism.

Just as we did in the George Bush administration.

All statements from Barack Obama come with expiration dates.  That’s something that the HopeandChangizoids have begun to learn just a month after the dawning of the Age of Obama.  A lot of them owe Bush — and us — apologies.

Oh BTW, Gitmo meets the standards of the Geneva Conventions:

A Pentagon review of conditions in the Guantanamo Bay military prison has concluded that the treatment of detainees meets the requirements of the Geneva Convention but that prisoners in the highest-security camps should be allowed more religious and social interaction with each other, according to a government official who has read the 85-page document.

The report, which was ordered by President Obama, was prepared by Adm. Patrick M. Walsh, the vice chief of naval operations, and has been delivered to the White House. Obama requested the review as part of an executive order on the planned closure of the prison at the Guantanamo Bay U.S. naval base on the southeastern tip of Cuba…

Walsh concluded that … force-feeding, which involves strapping prisoners to feeding chairs and forcing tubes down one nostril and into their stomachs, is in compliance the Geneva Convention’s mandate that the lives of prisoners must be preserved, the government official said.

B. Hussein Obama’s approval rating dropping like the stock market since Jan 20th 2009.

Yes whiny liberals, I know, its still higher than the evil dubya’s approval rating when he left office. But in March of 1977 Jimmy Carter’s approval rating was 75%. Hussein ObamaMania is slowly coming to a grinding halt. Today’s Rasmussen Reports has Hussein Obama’s approval rating dropping  to 57%.  This is down from 59 percent yesterday and 60 percent the day before.

A New Populism? More and more “Tea Parties” to come, while the liberal media continues to not report on them.

Seattle on Monday. Denver on Tuesday. Mesa AZ on Wednesday. Overland Park, Kansas today. What a week, huh? We got the anti-stimulus, anti-entitlement protest ball rolling — and now the movement, spurred further by CNBC host Rick Santelli’s call for a “Chicago Tea Party,” is really taking off.

David Hogberg at Investor’s Business Daily has a nice piece out today spotlighting the growing taxpayer revolt the rest of the MSM won’t cover. He interviewed our registered commenters Liberty Belle Keli Carender, who spearheaded the Seattle anti-pork protest, and HuskerGirl Amanda Grosserode, who organized today’s anti-stimulus demonstration against Democrat Rep. Dennis Moore in Overland Park, MS.

I’m happy to report on several new protest events now on the docket.

Michelle Malkin’s friend Michael Patrick Leahy of Top Conservatives on Twitter and his crew are spearheading “simultaneous local tea parties around the country, beginning in Chicago, and including Washington DC, Fayetteville NC, San Diego CA, Omaha Nebraska, and dozens of other locations” for next Friday.

Time: February 27, 2009 from 12pm to 1pm
Location: Chicago, Washington DC, other cities, Twitter

Go to OfficialChicagoTeaParty.com for all the info.

Co-sponsors of the events with #TCOT include #DONTGO, Smart Girl Politics, Americans for Tax Reform, Heartland Institute, and American Spectator Magazine. The tea parties will be “simultweeted” with the hashtag #teaparty. You can find me tweeting here.

There’s a Facebook page here for the DC Tea Party. I hear that PJTV will also be stepping up to the plate.

If you are in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, reader Mark Christopher Frimmel has come forward to put a Tea Party ‘09 event together. He put up an ad on Dallas Craigslist, has contacted local radio and TV, and wants you to be there. The protest will be held on the outside stage at The Cowtown Bar & Grill on Friday, Feb. 27, from 3pm to 7pm, located at 7108 Camp Bowie Blvd Fort Worth, TX. Music, food, and great fiscal conservative company guaranteed.

Are you in Georgia? Reader Patrick e-mails that he’s “getting a tax protest off the ground in Atlanta. I’d appreciate it if you’d pass on the word. The blog is http://atlantataxprotest.blogspot.com.” He needs your help. Calling Neal Boortz!

Here’s a snippet from Hogberg’s IBD piece to get your motors running:

As unemployment soars and anger over Wall Street bailouts mounts, public outrage will seek an outlet. Populism could go in many directions — and could easily ebb when the economy revives. But if it takes shape as an anti-spending movement, it could revive conservatives much as the 1970s tax protests did.

To be sure, the protest sizes so far are a far cry from the left’s anti-globalization and anti-war demonstrations of the past decade. But they appear to have grass-roots origins. The organizer of the Kansas protest, Amanda Grosserode, calls herself a home-schooling mom who is “fed up” with the spending in Washington. She has been a member of Fair Tax Kansas City since last fall.

“My husband and I were feeling frustrated that the stimulus had passed with very little debate and no one had read it,” she told IBD. “I said, ‘We need to do something.’ ” She began contacting family and friends, and eventually received attention via Fair Tax Kansas City and local talk radio.

Grosserode received considerably more publicity after e-mailing popular conservative commentator and blogger Michelle Malkin.

“I think the taxpayer revolt is the new counterculture,” said Malkin, who has been publicizing the protests on her blog. “People want to stand up and say, ‘Hey, I’m paying for that, I do not support that.’ “

Brendan Steinhauser has a terrific set of detailed tips on how to organize your own tea party protest.

Don’t wait for someone else to do it.

Don’t make excuses.

Don’t think you can pull one off because you’ve never done it before? Look at mom-bloggers Liberty Belle and HuskerGirl.

Yes, you can!

So much for Obama’s “Favorite Republican’s” ideas. Ray LaHood’s plan is nixed

President Barack Obama on Friday rejected his transportation secretary’s suggestion that the administration consider taxing motorists based on how many miles they drive instead of how much gasoline they buy.

“It is not and will not be the policy of the Obama administration,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters, when asked for the president’s thoughts about Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood’s suggestion, raised in an interview with The Associated Press a daily earlier. Gasoline taxes that for nearly half a century have paid for the federal share of highway and bridge construction can no longer be counted on to raise enough money to keep the nation’s transportation system moving, LaHood told the AP.

“We should look at the vehicular miles program where people are actually clocked on the number of miles that they traveled,” the former Illinois Republican lawmaker said in the AP interview.

LaHood spokeswoman Lori Irving said Friday that the secretary was speaking of the idea only in general terms, not as something being implemented as administration policy.

President Hussein Obama just recently called GOP Transportation Secretary nominee Ray LaHood one of his “favorite Republicans.”. So much for that. HOPE AND CHANGE!

Bobby Jindal: Thanks but no thanks to your $98 million in porkulus money for Louisiana

In one fell swoop, he’s stolen Sanford’s thunder as stimulus critic-in-chief. Risky, but I like it.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal announced Friday that he will decline stimulus money specifically targeted at expanding state unemployment insurance coverage, becoming the first state executive to officially refuse any part of the federal government’s payout to states…

“The federal money in this bill will run out in less than three years for this benefit and our businesses would then be stuck paying the bill,” Jindal said. “We must be careful and thoughtful as we examine all the strings attached to the funding in this package. We cannot grow government in an unsustainable way.”

According to the old liberal hag Helen Thomas: We are all terrorists!

helen.jpgFirst we are cowards according to Eric Holder, now according to the Wicked Witch of the east, Helen Thomas, we are all terrorists! Tommy Christopher, got a chance to talk with Helen Thomas at the White House today after she referred to our enemies in Afghanistan and Pakistan as “so-called terrorists”. Helen likes Tommy, so she had no reservations about going with the Full Moral Equivalence argument:

TOMMY: All right Helen, when you asked the President about Afghanistan and Pakistan during the press conference, you said, “so-called terrorists”. You want to explain why you say “so-called terrorists”?

THOMAS: Because some people think they’re freedom fighters. They are in their own country, and we could dub them as terrorists, but … and their tactics are terrible, but so are ours. We dropped bombs on people in Iraq, people who did nothing to us.

TOMMY: So would you say that it’s for the sake of intellectual honesty?

THOMAS: [NODDING] I say we need it.

Bill O’reilly was right to call her a witch.

Warning! Porkulus 2.0 may be voted on next week!

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today issued the following statement on plans by Democratic leaders to schedule a vote as soon as next week on the half-trillion dollar “omnibus” spending bill to complete the FY 2009 appropriations process: “If Democratic leaders plan to schedule a vote on the half-trillion dollar omnibus spending bill next week, they should post the legislation online immediately so the American people have adequate time to read the measure and understand what is in it.  My colleagues in the Republican leadership and I made this request two weeks ago, and to date, our request has gone unanswered.  Time is running short, and American taxpayers deserve to know how their hard-earned tax dollars will be used under this legislation.

“The fact that the Democratic Majority is planning to bring this massive spending bill to the House floor just days after Congress approved the trillion-dollar ‘stimulus’ spending plan is added proof that ‘borrow and spend’ has become Washington’s go-to strategy for funding more programs and projects that taxpayers do not need and cannot afford.

“Will the omnibus spending bill be loaded with pork-barrel earmarks?  Will it contain harmful language aimed at stopping environmentally-safe energy exploration far off our shores?  Will it include other controversial policy changes akin to the ‘stimulus’ bill’s provisions to undermine welfare reform and allow government bureaucrats to ration out health care for families and seniors?  These are important questions that must be answered – and will be answered, if Democratic leaders give the American people ample time to review the legislation by placing it online immediately.”

NOTE: Boehner and other Members of the House GOP leadership sent a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) on February 5 asking that the massive FY 2009 omnibus spending bill be posted online immediately.  To date, that letter has gone unanswered.

Codepink now say Obama continuing Bush war policy

Looks like Codepink is jumping off the Hussein Obama bandwagon. Heres a quote from their site:

We danced the “Yes We Can-Can” on Inauguration day as we applauded President Obama’s promises to take our nation in a new direction. With his recent announcement of an additional 17,000 troops to be deployed to Afghanistan, we see change come to a screeching halt and a dangerous continuation of the same failed US policies of the Bush era blaze forward. Just as in Iraq, misplaced hope in military solutions is pushing peaceful strategies to the back seat. Take action and help President Obama do the right thing- we need an escalation in peaceful alternatives, not military force!

Joy Behar destroyed by Ann Coulter

joy-behar-tingle.jpgJoy Behar who is hardly a joy, was guest host of Larry King Live and liberal loon, B. Hussein Obama worshipper, and flatout nutjob, had a heated discussion with Ann Coulter about a variety of topics, can you guess what the main topics where? The transcript’s here if you’d rather read than watch. A highlight:

BEHAR: So are you saying that if — that if George Clooney asked you out on a date, you’d say no, because he’s a big liberal?

COULTER: Correct.

BEHAR: Really?

COULTER: Yes.

BEHAR: Well, what kind of men do you like?

COULTER: I like men, i.e. conservatives. I don’t want them checking with the U.N. to get, you know, a resolution before making a move.

Exit quotation from 5:37 in: “Are you frightened or gleeful that Rush Limbaugh seems to be the head of your party these days?”

Rush Limbaugh’s challenge to B. Hussein Obama Sh** or get off the pot!

Rush Limbaugh throws down another challenge to Barack Obama on the pages of the Wall Street Journal, this time on the Fairness Doctrine — and any other attempts to limit political speech by government fiat.  Rush reminds Obama of his studies of the Constitution at Harvard Law and asks him to justify how the FCC can interfere with the exercise of political speech.  He also reminds Obama that interference in this case could result in the economic collapse of a significant part of the radio industry, and cost thousands of people their jobs:

The Schmucky Schumer Let them eat pork picture

Tennyson Hayes has returned with yet another delicious take on Beltway snobs. In response to Sen. Chuck Schumer’s derision of Americans who care about the pork in the porkulus, Tennyson powders up Schmucky and tops him off with Marie Antoinette’s big white wig.

Perfect:

Huffington Post smear job exposed! HuffPoo makes a fake video accussing Fox News of racist comments!

Taking a cue from the monkey cartoon fiasco, and of course Eric Holder calling America a nation of cowards on race, the Huffington post launched an attack at Fox News with a video purporting to show John Gibson comparing (Black Attorney General) Eric Holder To a “Monkey With a Bright Blue Scrotum”. Predictably, outrage followed. Here are some of the comments (they may sound eerily familiar to you).

* FOX continues to prove it is part of the most racist network since the KKK

* John Gibson should be fired.

* These guys are unbelievable. Racism and Gibson’s fixation for blue scrotums together would baffle when Freud himself.

* this is not surprising john gibson is a bigot and has never denied it.

* i hope Keith Olbeman has a special comment about this isses!!!

* Keep digging Faux, just keep on digging yourselves into a marginalize racist pit of despair.

There’s only one problem, the video they presented was doctored! Gibson said no such thing and HuffPo has retracted.

From the blog Johnny Dollar’s Place:

The Huffington Post claims they got the video from TVNewser, but obviously did not verify its accuracy. Several commenters note that an ‘annotation’ (words that pop on the screen) has now been added to the youtube video by its poster, admitting that Gibson didnt say ‘bright blue scrotum’. But the original doctored video (without the disclaimer) was saved and can be found here.

Gibson’s response today: “The Huffington Post, in its zeal to slime me, went over the line and posted a phony, fabricated quote, attributed it to me, and which actually constitutes a lie, and a slander. The Huffington Post plays fast and loose on a regular basis, but this time it was caught in an out and out fabricated falsehood.” It’s going to be “All Racism All The Time”, kids.

IUSB has made a high quality copy of the fake video from youtube in case someone tries to hide the evidence

Update 2/25/09: Schmuck gets canned!

In honor of B. Hussein Obama’s daddy, youth’s new fad is pipe smoking!

barack-obama-father.jpgRead this on the plane this morning: Did you know that pipe smoking is the new cool thing among college kids and young people?

Via the WSJ:

Dan Nemets, a sophomore at Central Michigan University, likes the TV show “Family Guy,” heavy-metal musician Ozzy Osbourne and a good pipe.

Mr. Nemets took up pipe smoking 18 months ago after strolling into a pipe and tobacco store near the Mount Pleasant campus with a friend. Mr. Nemets can’t smoke in his dorm room but has networked with other youthful smokers on Facebook in the Collegiate Gentlemen’s Pipe Smoking League.

“They say everyone has an inner child,” the 19-year-old says. “I guess I have an inner old man.”

Friday is International Pipe-Smoking Day, when a number of puffers will unite to protest tobacco taxes and smoking bans. They will also engage in slow-smoking competitions to see who can keep a pipe going the longest. Each contestant is given just two matches. Events, which will go on all weekend, are promoted by the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association.

Health advocates may warn of oral cancer, mouth lesions and rotting teeth, but Mr. Nemets and his online brethren are in the vanguard of an unlikely set of smokers taking to the brier — people in their 20s.

“They’re eager to learn,” says 71-year-old Vernon E. Vig, president of the New York Pipe Club and the United Pipe Clubs of America. Mr. Vig started smoking a pipe as an undergrad at Carleton College 53 years ago. “Back then, everyone smoked a pipe,” Mr. Vig says. His group, which meets monthly in Manhattan, has seen a definite increase in college students and young professionals, he says.

What are the Big Nanny liberals gonna do? Remember: While they spend tens of millions on government smoking cessation programs, they depend on smokers to fund their universal health care expansions.

What to do? What to do?

Not only does Obama owe Chicago money, he owes Philadelphia money too!

This morning, Michelle Malkin mentioned Team Obama/DNC’s unpaid bills in Chicago.

Guess what? The Team of Deadbeats owes the City of Brotherly Love, too (hat tip -David R):

BARACK OBAMA spent a record $760 million getting himself elected president. But his campaign, Obama for America, still owes Philadelphia nearly $24,000 for several pre-election events, and the cash-strapped city hasn’t given up its collection efforts.

The most expensive event was an Oct. 4 rally on the Parkway, featuring Bruce Springsteen. The city’s expenses came to $9,050, including sound systems, lighting, platforms, bleachers and clean-up costs.

There were smaller charges for a series of Obama appearances on Oct. 11, at Progress Plaza, the Mayfair Diner and Vernon Park, and $3,666 for a Joe Biden rally at Marconi Plaza the day before the election.

Mechelle Sabb, special-event coordinator in the Managing Director’s Office, said the bills remain unpaid in spite of a December letter sent to Obama headquarters in Chicago, warning that non-payment could jeopardize his welcome at future events in Philadelphia or Fairmount Park.

Calls to the White House press office were referred to Democratic National Committee, which sent Clout back to the White House. No one would talk on the record, but one source said the campaign would quickly write a check to cover the charges.

Ed Morrissey calls it “deadbeatonomics.”

In other words: BAU.

Business as usual.

ACORN mob begins breaking into homes

Obama’s pals at Acorn, who received $2 billion from Bank of America, and millions from the porkulus bill are now breaking into padlocked homes!

Well, are you ready, Baltimore? (Hat tip – Jeff Quinton) ACORN’s troops are breaking the padlocks and breaking into homes. And this is just the start. Caution: OBAMACORN at work.

A community organization breaks into a foreclosed home in what they are calling an act of civil disobedience.

The group wants to train homeowners facing eviction on peaceful ways they can remain in their homes.

Derek Valcourt reports their actions are not without controversy.

Near Patterson Park, the padlock on the door and the sign in the window tells part of Donna Hanks foreclosure story.

“The mortgage went up $300 in one month,” said Hanks, former homeowner.

She says the bank refused to modify her loan and foreclosed, kicking her out of the house in September.

The community group ACORN calls Hanks a victim of predatory lending.

“This is our house now,” said Louis Beverly, ACORN.

And on Thursday afternoon, they literally broke the foreclosure padlock right off the front door and then broke into the house, letting Hanks back in for the first time in months.

Taxpayer-subsidized anarchy is on the way.

Mr. President? Mr. President?

Chicago still can’t recoup the $1.74 million cost of President Obama’s victory celebration in Grant Park from November 4th 2008

“Shared sacrifice” apparently means shafting your hometown and letting your victory day celebration bills go unpaid. What happened to “We must all pay?”

The deadbeat fish rots from the head down. Via Sun-Times:

Chicago has yet to recoup the $1.74 million cost of President Obama’s victory celebration in Grant Park — despite a burgeoning $50.5 million budget shortfall that threatens more layoffs and union concessions.

“The Democratic National Committee has not yet paid us,” Peter Scales, a spokesman for the city’s Office of Budget and Management, said Thursday after questions from the Chicago Sun-Times. “We’re reaching out to them this week.”

Stacie Paxton, a spokeswoman for the Obama-controlled DNC, explained the reimbursement delay by saying, “We are still looking at various costs and bills.” She would not say whether parts of the bill are disputed.

The city spent $1 million on police protection for the rally. The Office of Emergency Management and Communications racked up more than $120,000 in expenses, including $19,500 paid to police official Neil Sullivan to quarterback election night logistics.

In late October, Mayor Daley assured that the cash-flush Obama campaign would reimburse the city for every penny spent on the rally. “We have a financial crisis,” he said at the time. “The City of Chicago could not afford $2 million on this because we’re gonna be laying off people, cutting back. That [cost] would really be unfortunate. . . . It’s a huge cost to the City of Chicago.

“This is not a presidential visit. . . . This is a political event, and they’ve agreed to pay for all those services — all the expenses of that. … It’s costly, but they raised quite a bit of money. There’s no [shortage] of money in that campaign.”

Here’s how the S-T broke out the bill:

Police $1 million
Emergency Management and Communications Office $121,578
Fire Department $85,965
Streets and Sanitation $71,694
Transportation $49,659
Cultural Affairs $2,567
Environment $2,309
CTA $201,500
Chicago Park District $202,440
(Park District breakdown):
Giant video boards $68,900
Electrical $37,185
Sound $37,500
Stagehands $29,850
Portable toilets $12,500
Security $7,505
Stage rental $6,000
Bike racks, barricades $2,000
Heavy equipment $1,000
Total bill $1,737,712

Personal responsibility for thee, but not for He.

Turncoat Arlen Spectre jeered!

KDKA reports Turncoat Caucus Sen. Arlen Specter was met with jeers at a Pa. press conference. Betrayal of core fiscal conservative principles has consequences.

U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter was greeted with jeers at a press conference in Cranberry Township.

Conservatives are fuming after Specter cast the deciding vote that led to the passage of President Barack Obama’s stimulus plan.

Specter, 79, acknowledges his run for re-election will be tough.

He says he’s not completely happy with Obama’s plans but he points out that he was able to cut the price tag by over $100 billion and he says he was able to increase the amount of tax cuts.

Even so, Specter acknowledges the Republican Party’s conservative wing will attempt to unseat him in next year’s primary race.

Maybe Sen. Specter can dial up the president, who can stroke his ego and call him a patriot again to make him feel better.

Rick Santelli: President Obama, Are You Listening? Jeffrey Immelt will probably fire Rick Santelli now

Here is the video and transcript of CNBC host Rick Santelli slamming the Obama mortgage rescue plan. Among other things he warns Americans about a socialist administration and reminds viewers of the early days of the Cuban revolution.

Rick Santelli: President Obama, Are You Listening?

All heck is breaking loose in the financial markets this week as traders are betting that Obama’s giant welfare surprise has doomed the economy. As the values of our nation’s best companies tumbled as a result of actions in Washington, Rick Santelli spoke up on CNBC from the trading floor at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Santelli explains that the government is supporting bad behavior, and taunts the president by asking “President Obama, are you listening?” He wonders rhetorically if it’s time for another tea party.

CNBC was largely supportive of Obama’s candidacy. After only four weeks, Obama’s honeymoon period with the media has taken a nosedive.

Video and transcript are below.

Rick Santelli CNBC transcript:

Mr. Ross has nailed it. The

government is promoting bad behavior
. We certainly don’t want to put stimulus pork and give people a whopping $8 or $10 in their check and think that they ought to save it.

And in terms of modifications, I tell you what. I have an idea. The new administration is big on computers and technology. How about this, Mr. President and new administration. Why don’t you put up a website to have people vote on the internet as a referendum to see if we really want to subsidize the losers mortgages? Or would they like to at least buy buy cars, buy a house that is in foreclosure … give it to people who might have a chance to actually prosper down the road and reward people that can carry the water instead of drink the water?

This is America!

How many people want to pay for your neighbor’s

mortgages that has an extra bathroom and can’t pay their bills?
Raise their hand!

President Obama, are you listening?

You know Cuba used to have mansions and a relatively decent economy. They moved from the individual to the collective. Now they’re driving ‘54 Chevys.

It’s time for another tea party.

What we are doing in this country will make Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin roll over in their graves.

Santelli has the credentials as a senior investment strategist, trader and manager to know what he is talking about.

The entire segment at the CME featured Jason Roney of Sharmac Capital, Wilbur Ross Jr. of WL Ross & Co., and CNBC’s Rick Santelli.

Reactions can be found here and here and here.

BTW, would you join the Chicago Tea Party? You can vote in the I guess “official” CNBC poll. At the time of this post. 92% of the 82,000 voters would!

Umm.. Uhh.. Ummm. On Friday Feb 20th, White House spokesman Gibbs to Santelli: You don’t know what you’re talking about

Sen. Jim DeMint to force whiny Democrats hand on Fairness Doctorine

Sen. Jim DeMint announced that he will force a vote next week on a bill that prevents the Federal Communications Commission from reinstating the Fairness Doctrine.

The South Carolina Republican’s bill, the Broadcaster Freedom Act, is cosponsored by John Thune, R-S.D., and 27 others and will be offered as an amendment to the D.C. Voting Rights bill…

Sen. DeMint stated: “I’m glad President Obama finally confirmed his opposition to the Fairness Doctrine, which attacks the right of free speech on talk radio, but many Democrats in Congress are still pushing it.

“With the support of the new administration, now is the time for Congress to take a stand against this kind of censorship. I intend to seek a vote on this amendment next week so every senator is on record: Do you support free speech or do you want to silence voices you disagree with?”

The Race Card returns! Black democrat accuses Anti-stimulus GOP governors of…RAAAAACISM!

Well, Attorney General Eric Holder, here’s your conversation about race: House Majority Whip James Clyburn of South Carolina is now accusing GOP governors who have fundamental misgivings about the trillion-dollar stimulus of opposing the law because they don’t like black people.

Who’s being divisive, Eric Holder? Who’s obsessed with race? Who needs to stop self-segregating and stop spreading race-based poison? Where’s the outrage? Clyburn earlier this year invoked plantation imagery to suggest that S.C. GOP Gov. Mark Sanford’s opposition to earmarks was based on RAAAACISM.

Now this:

Representative James Clyburn held a roundtable meeting to discuss how the newly-signed stimulus package will affect South Carolina.

He said not only would it create jobs, but also repair roads and bridges around the state.

Clyburn also had some strong comments for Gov. Mark Sanford on why he thinks he opposed the stimulus.

“The governor of Louisiana expressed opposition. Has the highest African-American population in the country. Governor of Mississippi expressed opposition. The governor of Texas, and the governor of South Carolina. These four governor’s represent states that are in the black belt. I was insulted by that,” Clyburn said. “All of this was a slap in the face of African-Americans. It had nothing to do with Governor Sanford.”

We don’t need more talk like this. We need the racial grievance-mongers to shut up. Shut. Up.
