Look at this chart, via AngryRenter.com. While ACORN and the housing entitlement mob get all the press, look who’s not getting attention.

Now, here’s some feedback in response to Michelle Malkin’s appearance on FNC’s Neil Cavuto show this afternoon in support of renters (self included) who are getting the shaft from the housing entitlement-mongers:
From reader Sean…
Michelle,
I just saw you on Cavuto and had to write. Thank you for being someone who actually gets it. Both my wife and I enjoy your commentary. My wife and I were married in 2006 and currently rent an apartment in Columbia, MO. Our rent is cheap and we were going to buy a house when we got married but figured we would be responsible and save our money for a large down payment. We have held off buying a home because we felt the need to be financially sound and have an investment into our home. Neither of us have any debt, my MBA is paid for, and we have saved enough for a large down payment. We are now ready to buy a home, only to realize we are getting screwed by our government. It’s a sad day when those who are not responsible are rewarded for being complete dolts! Anyways….we’ll make it. Thanks for sticking up for us.
From reader Randy…
Michelle,
Thank you for saying on national TV what I have not heard anyone else say. My wife and I made a personal decision to not buy a home, because we knew we could not afford one. My wife and I rent, and are aggressively trying to get out of debt from when we were both in college. She is a pre-school teacher, and i work for the local Republican Party. We looked at purchasing a home, but decided we wanted to be able to put at least 10% down. Our combined income is less than $55,000 a year. We both work hard. We both expect to pay taxes, but we don’t think it is right to have to bail others out who made bad decisions. Whatever happened to personal responsibility?
Who is out there speaking on behalf of us working, trying to live what we perceive to be the American Dream, which is not living off of government hand outs. We appreciate your message, and encourage you to continue taking every opportunity to get the message out.

Want to read something either funny, or downright pathetic? White people aren’t supposed to criticize Hussein Obama – so says Michelle Malkin’s hate mailers
Sharing some angry letters from the overflowing e-mailbox — and then I’ll dutifully put on my duct tape and go sit in the corner. Not.
From Bernard Woodward…
Hello Michele,
I’ve saw you various times on Fox news and I’ve noticed that you are consistently critical of The President and you never have anything good to say in his regard and I’m very offended by that, it’s as if you criticize him not for what he does so much but you criticize him for who and what he is, because he’s the first “African American President” in the history of this country. It’s as if you only come on when there is something to criticize President Barack Obama about or any other Black person. I wonder sometimes if you have any mirrors in the place that you reside. You are not caucasian or should I say, “a white woman”, don’t you realize that if black people were not in this country, more than likely you wouldn’t be as accepted by the powers that be, you don’t know how it feels to be directly affected as well as infected with the virus of racism, you may not be familiar with the term or the experience of “white supremacy”, don’t you realize that the only reason they have you on their broadcast is because of the critcism you have of President Barack Obama, wake up and smell the coffee, or maybe you are aware of it and don’t mind being their little lap dog but whatever the case, I find you to be very offensive and I hope that you would consider what you’re doing and put an end to it because whether you know it or not you’re also in a lesser class or considered to be lower class in the eyes of the white supremist that own an run that station.
Thank you very much
From Judith Fleming…
Only a Republican would consider money for education as “pork” ! Successful blacks like you are able to leave the “hood” and you never look back and give a helping hand. Shame on you.

Hey you dumb c*nt!! I just read your article where you were bashing the lady in Fort Myers and that just blew me away. I usually don’t get offended by retards such as yourself but this was an exception. You see, Henrietta is the face of America right now and if you can’t identify with that maybe you don’t belong in this country. I know your off in some other reality within yourself but you really should reconsider the real reality here in America.
I know most people don’t understand that it is your job to take the unpopular opinion to get ratings so when you are all alone with no one around then maybe you will be able to understand Henrietta’s real problem.
I know this is a long shot to try and reach out to someone like yourself but it was worth a try.
Please come back to the real world we could use you.
From “funnyalex04″ (language warning)…
You are so ruthless you know that. First with SCHIP and now you attack my hometown in your stupid little column and that innocent woman who is homeless. Let’s not forget you are a rich elite and selfish bitch. Obama wanted to help the woman, he did that in Chicago and it’s better than taking a job on Wall Street with the rest of the crooks. By the way, seeing that he is The Messiah isn’t such a bad thing. At least he gives a damn about the people. What good have you done for your country besides bashing the ones like Obama who want to be there for the people. And here’s a really big question, would you be mad if John McCain had done this in Ft. Myers? I’m really beginning to think you are a racist. Give me 2 reasons to think you aren’t.
Your bigoted comments make me wish that your jaw gets fucked up more than your hero Ann Coulter’s did. And it shouldn’t be a surprise that she caused more problems once she started talking again. I can’t believe she would even have to explain. She plead her case, Obama wanted to help her. But once again you go ahead and bash her. I’d like to see you walk a week in her shoes as a homeless person. You wouldn’t survive. You pampered little bitch.
Oh and great news, The Senate has passed The Stimlus Bill. I know you are crying a river over that. Oh wait I forgot, you are rich and you don’t want to help the people. You wanna hold on to your bacon. I bet you’ve never had financial trouble or been unemployed your whole life.
I love my hometown even though I have only lived here a few months. I’m still trying to find my way as many people are. But just because you are successful and don’t agree with what Obama is doing, don’t be a hyprocritical bigotted cunt and judge what he is doing which is helping Americans who really need the help because you didn’t get your away with Old Man McCain and Cruella De Ville. If you had it your way we would do nothing.
Rot In Hell!!!!!!!!!
Mark Sanford, are you going to take the porkulus money for South Carolina or not?
The AP has a story declaring that GOP South Carolina Mark Sanford will take stimulus money “despite misgivings.” On Fox News this morning, Sanford expressed a more nuanced approach — asserting that he’ll be going through the plan “with a fine-tooth comb” to determine what funding would be worth accepting given “the strings attached.”
As Michelle Malkin been pointing out, the legality of the Punish Mark Sanford Amendment inserted by Democrat House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (S.C.) is still germane — especially with several other GOP governors now stating that they may not accept porkulus money in their states.
Michelle Malkin asked Hill folks for legal background/analysis on the provision usurping governors’ executive authority to accept or decline the funds. Michelle Malkin was told that House GOP leader John Boehner’s office has now requested an analysis from the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service (CRS) on the constitutionality of the provision in the trillion-dollar spending bill.
Stay tuned.

Remember that sweatheart land deal Hussein Obama got from Tony Rezko that was under investigation?
Well it looks like Hussein Obama will get off scott free for this one too. From Judicial Watch’s Jill Farrell (background links/info here):
The Federal Election Commission (FEC) notified Judicial Watch this week that it has “closed the file” on our complaint against Senator Barack Obama for allegedly accepting a below market rate mortgage loan in 2005 not available to the general consumer. In its factual and legal analysis, however, the FEC does confirm that Obama obtained a discounted loan but said no laws were violated.
So, to sum: Yes Barack Obama did receive a special below-market loan the rest of us couldn’t get. And a big “no” to the idea that he ought to be held accountable for it. Upset? So are we.
Here’s a bit of the back story.
According to Judicial Watch’s original FEC complaint, filed July 8, 2008, Obama reportedly received a home loan of $1.32 million at a rate of 5.625 percent, although the average going rate on that day according to two different surveys was between 5.93 and 6 percent. Unlike what was reportedly available for the general consumer, this special below market “super super jumbo” loan, was secured without an origination fee or discount points.
According to The Washington Post, which first raised questions about Obama’s mortgage, the favorable interest rate would save Barack Obama $300 a month, which over the life of the 30-year loan, would be at least $108,000. Judicial Watch contends these preferential loan terms constitute an illegal corporate campaign contribution to Obama.
As Judicial Watch noted in its complaint, Northern Trust has supported Barack Obama’s political campaigns for elected office since 1990. Moreover, Northern Trust Vice President John O’Connell essentially admitted the company provided Obama preferential loan terms because of his position in the U.S. Senate. (Obama was a senator at the time.) “‘A person’s occupation and salary are two factors; I would expect those are two things we would take into consideration,’ O’Connell told The Washington Post [emphasis added]. “This was a business proposition for us.”
Now, the FEC’s legal analysis dismissed O’Connell’s admission. The FEC based its decision to exonerate Obama largely on the fact that Northern Trust claims it provided preferential terms to other “similarly situated borrowers” in addition to the Obama. Northern Trust’s new explanation was that 8 of 14 of similarly situated borrowers (including Obama) received a mortgage loan discount.
Who are these unnamed “similarly situated” borrowers? Are they also elected officials? We don’t know because neither Northern Trust nor the FEC have been forthcoming with any details.
Needless to say, as I told the press this week, for the FEC to base its decision to excuse Obama on the fact that a few other unnamed borrowers also received sweetheart mortgages seems irresponsible. Look no further than the Countrywide which doled out corrupt to numerous public officials to see the massive hole in that logic.
The fact is Northern Trust’s president admitted Obama received the loan, in part, based on his position. This is improper and almost certainly constitutes an illegal campaign contribution (or gift). In our view, the FEC’s response is inadequate and it certainly does not serve the public’s interest.
Kathleen Parker still getting that thrill up her.. umm something from the Air Force One trip with Obama
This might possibly be the most obsequious, embarrassing paean to Barack Obama by a Washington Post writer since, well, the last one. The president kept his shirt on for the plane ride, so we don’t get any commentary from WaPo syndicated columnist Kathleen Parker about The One’s sun-kissed, chiseled pectorals.
But we do learn that the Obamas are warm.
So, so “warm.”
And “thin.”
And “natural.”
And so “lean and fit.”
Oh, and did she mention how “warm” they are?
The President is “calm.” He speaks slooooooowly. Out of such wonderful consideration for the stenographer-journalists hanging on his every calmly, slowly enunciated word.
I hear they replaced the airsickness bags with drool buckets.
Kathleen Parker took hers home for a souvenir.
(Hat tip – HA headlines)
Why wasn’t Chris Matthews on this ride? Well, I suppose it could have gotten really “bumpy”.
E.P.A. Expected to Regulate Carbon Dioxide – Algore creams himself
E.P.A. Expected to Regulate Carbon Dioxide
The Environmental Protection Agency is expected to act for the first time to regulate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that scientists blame for the warming of the planet, according to top Obama administration officials.
The decision, which most likely would play out in stages over a period of months, would have a profound impact on transportation, manufacturing costs and how utilities generate power.

North Korea warns of war as Clinton heads for Seoul
North Korea has repeatedly threatened in recent weeks to reduce the South to ashes. Pyongyang is thought to be readying its longest-range missile for launch in what analysts say is a bid to grab the new U.S. administration’s attention and pressure Seoul to ease up on its hard line.
“(The South Korean president‘s) group of traitors should never forget that the (North) Korean People’s Army is fully ready for an all-out confrontation,” the North’s KCNA news agency quoted an unnamed military official as saying.
Clinton said in Tokyo on Tuesday at the start of her first foreign trip since taking office that a North Korean missile launch would be “very unhelpful.”
Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid wrote the Porkulus bill, not Obama right? So why are blacks yet again crying racism?
I assume most of you by now have heard about that tragedy with the 15 year old chimpanzee living with a 70 year old woman right? Might we not consider this woman completely insane. This is what happens when you humanize animals to the extent we treat them as family members. If need be, cops can shoot a monkey dead…which will prompt PETA to show up and talk about veganism or some other vile brain synapse. Chimps are not human…as if that needs more explaining. Anyway, today the following cartoon was released in the New York Post:
Now, Sam Stein of the Huffington Post and Al Sharpton are up in arms about an editorial cartoon in today’s New York Post. The cartoon, playing off a news story about a rabid chimpanzee who was shot by police officers, uses the punchline “They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill.” Like the vast majority of editorial cartoons, it’s pretty dumb.
Sharpton complains:
The cartoon in today’s New York Post is troubling at best given the historic racist attacks of African-Americans as being synonymous with monkeys.
Stein is slightly more cautious:
At its most benign, the cartoon suggests that the stimulus bill was so bad, monkeys may as well have written it. Others believe it compares the president to a rabid chimp. Either way, the incorporation of violence and (on a darker level) race into politics is bound to be controversial.
Now who exactly wrote the bill? Was it Barack Hussein Obama? Umm. No… Was it Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.. Umm Yes! So yet again the race card is played, with no merit whatsoever. Keep trying you so called “PC” people. Maybe one day youl’ll get one right. But this is hardly racist. Certainly no more racist than the “wonderful” *BLACK* Attorney General calling America a “nation of cowards” on race.
Oh BTW, there are now protests planned against the NY Post, because of this “cartoon”.
Porkulus Earmark Scandal Breaking regarding Rep. John Murtha (D-PA)’s lobbying firm
Taegan Goddard e-mailed a late-breaking bulletin tonight of a Capitol Hill pork scandal in the works:
Earmark Scandal Breaking
There’s a potentially big story breaking on Capitol Hill… Apparently 104 members of Congress of both parties — 42 Republicans and 62 Democrats — secured earmarks for a lobbying firm linked to Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) — in a single bill alone. The earmarks were inserted in a bill Murtha controlled as the defense appropriations subcommittee chairman.
The firm’s executives and clients are among Murtha’s biggest sources of campaign contributions.
Check back later for more details.
I’d like to see that list of 42 Republicans. Which lobbying firm? Which bill? The GOP members will have some explaining to do.

Dan Riehl has some details on the lobbying firm, PMA.
Real Hope and Change – Not all high schoolers gungho about Obama spending binge
We need all the glimmers of hope we can get. Take ‘em where you can find ‘em. From an East Valley Tribune story on students at Mesa, AZ’s Dobson High School, where the president/savior spoke earlier today:
Some of the students attentively watched the speech, giving questioning looks and comments, shaking their heads and laughing at some of Obama’s words. Other students listened, occasionally glancing up to watch, while texting on their cell phones, reading a book or finishing school work.
The gymnasium’s events were shown simultaneously in rooms throughout the Mesa school, and teachers were given discretion on whether to show the speech, the students said.
The students in the class were hopeful things will work out but questioned whether Obama’s plan would actually work to dig the country out of its economic woes.
…The students also questioned why Obama chose their school for his speech since he wasn’t talking about education and wondered how much money the district spent on beautifying the campus while district positions and services are being cut.
District officials noted this week that the landscaping project completed over the weekend at Dobson was already in the works and was just expedited by the president’s visit. Funding came from voter-approved bonds.
New sod was laid in front of the school Tuesday, and Daudfar said, “The joke at the school is they’re going to take it away when he (Obama) leaves.”
AP government teacher Jeff Sherrer said his students “feel very strongly about the issues, maybe more than the general population.” He thought at least one of his students was outside protesting, and he had planned to take his students outside as a class project to show them what was going on but didn’t get the chance.
“These kinds of kids really get into it,” Sherrer said. “During the election we had lots of debates on the issues.”
What is this thing called “debate” in the Age of Obama?
Sarah Palin owes back taxes! Quick Hussein! Put her in your cabinet!
Good news: She’s officially qualified to serve in Obama’s cabinet.
The governor’s office wouldn’t say this week how much she owes in back taxes for meal money, or whether she intends to continue to receive the per diem allowance. As of December, she was still charging the state for meals and incidentals…
“Last fall we raised questions about longstanding practices within the Department of Administration regarding tax treatment of per diem payments,” Kreitzer wrote in an exchange of e-mails over the past few days with the Daily News.
“At the Governor’s request, we reviewed the situation to determine whether we were in full compliance with the pertinent Internal Revenue Service regulations,” [state administration commissioner Annette] Kreitzer wrote. “As a result of this review, we determined that per diem needs to be treated as income, requiring a revision of W-2 forms for any affected employees.”
Remember when WaPo broke the per diem story last fall? It was 10 days after McCain picked her, during the momentary lull between the media obsessing about Bristol Palin’s pregnancy and the media obsessing about Palin’s tanning bed. Team Maverick defended her for billing the state for nights away from Juneau spent in her own home in Wasilla, but the practice was sufficiently unusual that she evidently opted for full transparency and ordered a state review. Shrewd move: As embarrassing as it is to have this come out so soon after Geithner and Daschle, it would have been more embarrassing still to have it come up again in a future primary.
Exit question: Is Jerry Taylor the conservative movement’s newest persona non grata?
ObamAcorn: ACORN and Obama – Together again
Fresh off the trillion-dollar porkulus bill signing in Denver, President Obama immediately launched into his next New Raw Deal expansion: A massive mortgage entitlement program forcing lenders to refinance at an initial cost of $50 billion to $100 billion. That’s in addition to the bipartisan-supported $50 billion in the “stimulus” bill to bail out homeowners underwater on their mortgages and the $2 billion in “neighborhood stabilization” funds to alleviate the foreclosure crisis.
In tandem with the White House Bad Borrowers Bailout, Obama’s old friends at the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) are launching a new campaign of their own: the “Home Savers” campaign. What a coinky-dinky, huh? As with most of the bully tactics of the radical left-wing wing group, it ain’t gonna be pretty. They are the shock troops on the streets doing the dirty work while the Community Organizer-in-Chief keeps his delicate hands clean.
Trumpets ACORN: “On Feb. 19, ACORN members will launch a new tactic in fighting foreclosures: civil disobedience. Participants in the ACORN Home Savers campaign nationwide will simply refuse to move out of foreclosed homes, or in some cases, will move back in. ACORN homesteaders intend to squat in their homes until a comprehensive, federal solution for people facing foreclosure is put in place.”
ACORN’s foot soldiers, funded with your tax dollars, will scream, pound their fists, chain themselves to buildings, padlock the doors, and engage in illegal behavior until they get what they want. It’s a recipe for anarchy. Threatens Baltimore ACORN’s Louis Beverly, who calls himself a “Foreclosure Fighter:”
“After you’ve used all your legal options, your last resort is civil disobedience. We’re talking about families who have been in their homes 20 or 30 years. People who are assets in the community, who look out for the elderly, who have community associations, and these are the people being kicked out of the community.”
We can all sympathize with good folks who can’t pay their bills. But as I’ve said repeatedly in my criticism of the mortgage entitlement mentality embraced by both parties in Washington, home ownership is not a civil right — and neither is home retention. Artificially propping up the housing market will only result in more of the same costly borrow-spend-panic-repeat cycles that got us into this mess in the first place. Failing corporations need to fail. So do failing home borrowers. This is borrowing from frugal renter Peter to pay profligate Paul’s home loan.
Now, that’s the kind of theft that should be the subject of civil disobedience.
Instead, ACORN offices, funded with your tax dollars, are training teams of these “Home Savers” — described as “people ready and willing to mobilize on short notice to defend the homesteaders against attempts to evict them.” Ready, willing, and able to mobilize on short notice because they are either unemployed or employed full-time as ACORN shakedown artists.
Guess who’s encouraging them to defy the law? Democrat Rep. Marcy Kaptur of Ohio, who told them: “Stay in your homes. If the American people, anybody out there is being foreclosed, don’t leave.” The housing bullies will be assisted by left-wing propaganda documentarians at the Brave New Foundation, headed up by Hollywood lib Robert Greenwald, who will disseminate sob stories to crank up pressure while President Obama pushes his housing entitlement plan.
ACORN is targeting the following cities: Tuscon, Ariz.; Oakland, Calif.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Contra Costa County, Calif.; Orlando, Fla.; Baltimore, Md.; New York, N.Y.; Houston, Texas; San Mateo County, Calif.; Denver, Colo.; Bridgeport, Conn.; Wilmington, Del.; Broward County, Fla.; Boston, Mass.; Flint, Mich.; Detroit, Mich.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Raleigh, N.C.; Durham, N.C.; Albany, N.Y.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Cleveland, Ohio; Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Dallas, Texas.
ACORN racketeers have waited three decades for this moment in the sun. And as President Obama promised ACORN members at a forum in December 2007, “We’re going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda, we’re gonna be having meetings all across the country…so that you have input into the agenda.”
The moment is nigh. Prepare for lawlessness.
Bobby Jindal sends B. Hussein Obama a strong message – may not take the porkulus money
Last week before the Generational Theft Act was rammed through, I called the sneaky provision to prevent governors from turning down stimulus money the “Punish Mark Sanford Amendment.”
South Carolina Rep. and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn stuck the language into the bill to target GOP S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford — a leading fiscal conservative critic of porkulus — and usurp his executive authority. A reminder of the language:
SEC. 1607. (a) CERTIFICATION BY GOVERNOR — Not later than 45 days after the date of enactment of this Act, for funds provided to any State or agency thereof, the Governor of the State shall certify that: 1) the State request and use funds provided by this Act , and; 2) funds be used to create jobs and promote economic growth.
(b) ACCEPTANCE BY STATE LEGISLATURE — If funds provided to any State in any division of this Act are not accepted for use by the Governor, then acceptance by the State legislature, by means of the adoption of a concurrent resolution, shall be sufficient to provide funding to such State.
Is this legal? Will it be tested? Sanford is reportedly weighing his decision on stimulus funding as we speak.
And though targeted at Sanford, the amendment could be wielded against other fiscally conservative governors.
Louisiana’s GOP Gov. Bobby Jindal may not take some of the porkulus money, either. Will his executive authority be overriden by the Clyburn provision, too?
Texas GOP Gov. Rick Perry may also decline the money.
Another vacation for a Democrat. Dick Durbin in Greece times supports Burris ethics probe
Is this the holiday season already? What is it with all these democrat polictians taking all these trips and vacations while “we are in the worst economy since the Great Depression”? Hussein Obama pops off the Chicago for a little Valentines “Weekend” vacation while the Porkulus bill that HAD TO BE passed sat on his desk for 3 days. Nancy Pelosi pops off to Italy on her private jet, that our tax dollars are paying for, and now Dick Durbin takes a trip to Greece. Anwyay, you gotta love Dick’s timing on this one:
Hmmmm. Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin took time from his Greece junket to comment on the Senate ethics probe now under way into Roland Burris’s possible perjury:
U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin says he believes the testimony Roland Burris gave to Illinois lawmakers about his appointment to the U.S. Senate was incomplete and a Senate ethics investigation under way. Durbin made those comments Wednesday while on a trip to Greece to discuss security in the region. The Illinois Democrat says he wants to be fair and review all of the documents, transcripts and statements involved.
Tom Elia questions the timing:
Now that it looks almost certain that Illinois Sen. Roland Burris lied under oath about his contacts with impeached Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (and had that perjury covered up by another Chicago Dem for over one week while the vote occurred), one has to wonder why President Obama reversed his position, and put out the word for the US Senate to approve Burris under the dubious Blagojevich-related circumstances.
Well, besides the embarrassing circumstances of his former Senate seat being up for sale to highest bidder being in the news, there is the matter of the passage of Obama’s stimulus package in the Senate.
Sen. Burris was the 60th vote on the stimulus bill with Sen. Kennedy ailing and not able to vote himself.
I wonder if anyone in the press will follow up on this?
Rick Moran follows up:
My friend Tom Elia at the New Editor raised this question in an email and it bears looking into.
The fact is, if this mess with Burris had been made public back on February 5 when the Illinois senator submitted his “corrected” affadavit to the Democratic Majority Leader, there is a pretty good chance that the Illinois senator would not have been able to vote on the stimulus bill in the senate on the 13th.
Why? Because pressure would have been building – as it is now – for the “lying little sneak” to resign his seat. It seems surreal but Roland Burris has now changed his story about contacts with Governor Blagojevich’s henchmen about the senate seat at least 4 times – twice yesterday alone. If he had been forced to resign in a similar time period that is shaping up now, there would have been no 60th vote on the stimulus bill in the senate, no cloture, and the bill would have been sent back to conference.
So which Democrats knew of this affadavit and why wasn’t it made public immediately? Burris says he sent the affadavit to the chairman of the impeachment committee who then promptly sat on it until the Chicago Sun Times got wind of the story at which point Burris himself gave it to the newspaper. The committee chairman was Barbara Flynn Currie, House Majority Leader.
Barbara Flynn Currie has represented the 25th Congressional district in the Illinois House since 1979. That district includes Hyde Park – former home for many years of President Barack Obama.
Just sayin’.
The road to socialism shifts into another gear – Obama’s massive mortgage entitlement program
The White House just released the dirty details of Obama’s massive mortgage entitlement program.
Refinancing for Up to 4 to 5 Million Responsible Homeowners to Make Their Mortgages More Affordable
A $75 Billion Homeowner Stability Initiative to Reach Up to 3 to 4 Million At-Risk Homeowners
Supporting Low Mortgage Rates By Strengthening Confidence in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
In addition, there will be forced mortgage modifications (bad idea when GOP pitched it, bad idea now) and unprecedented new meddling in private loan contracts, including a $10 billion “insurance fund,” $100 billion more for Freddie and Fannie (rewarding failures again), and a provision to “Allow Judicial Modifications of Home Mortgages During Bankruptcy for
Borrowers Who Have Run Out of Options” (pushed by Dodd and the Dems for more than a year now).
“Pay for Success” Incentives to Servicers: Servicers will receive an up-front fee of $1,000 for each eligible modification meeting guidelines established under this initiative. They will also receive “pay for success” fees – awarded monthly as long as the borrower stays current on the loan – of up to $1,000 each year for three years.
Incentives to Help Borrowers Stay Current: To provide an extra incentive for borrowers to keep paying on time, the initiative will provide a monthly balance reduction payment that goes straight towards reducing the principal balance of the mortgage loan. As long as a borrower stays current on his or her loan, he or she can get up to $1,000 each year for five years.
Reaching Borrowers Early: To keep lenders focused on reaching borrowers who are trying their best to stay current on their mortgages, an incentive payment of $500 will be paid to servicers, and an incentive payment of $1,500 will be paid to mortgage holders, if they modify at-risk loans before the borrower falls behind.Home Price Decline Reserve Payments: To encourage lenders to modify more mortgages and enable more families to keep their homes, the Administration — together with the FDIC — has developed an innovative partial guarantee initiative. The insurance fund – to be created by the Treasury Department at a size of up to $10 billion – will be designed to discourage lenders from opting to foreclose on mortgages that could be viable now out of fear that home prices will fall even further later on. Holders of mortgages modified under the program would be provided with an additional insurance payment on each modified loan, linked to declines in the home price index.
The Pope owns and destroys Nancy Pelosi!
The Vatican has released a statement after meeting with Nancy Pelosi, apparently mindful of the controversy created by giving an audience to a pro-choice American politician. Before Pelosi has a chance to characterize the discussion, Benedict apparently wants everyone to know that he saw this as a teaching moment (via The Corner):
Following the General Audience the Holy Father briefly greeted Mrs Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, together with her entourage.
When it comes to race: America is a nation of cowards! (So says Eric Holder, our new Attorney General)
So saith the first black Attorney General, appointed by the black president we cowardly Americans just elected — which, last time I checked, is one more than any European country’s ever elected — during a speech honoring America’s officially recognized Black History Month. The key bit comes about a minute in. There’s nothing shocking about this, unless it’s how pedestrian it is. It’s the same old nonsense about having an “honest” conversation on race, which typically means agreeing root and branch with the leftist position on any policy issue that touches that subject (e.g., illegal immigration) on penalty of being called a racist. The boss notes the irony of Holder uncorking this on a day when “civil rights leader” Al Sharpton is demagoging the hell out of the New York Post for an innocent cartoon, but there’s an irony even more sublime here: Obama himself did everything he could to avoid race during the campaign — aside from the occasional insinuation that McCain’s a bigot — until the Wright uproar forced his hand. He could have used his platform to push the issue front and center but he decided he’d rather get elected. Holder owes his job to that, ahem, cowardice.

Remember yesterday in Colorado while the Namaste Solar CEO, Blake Jones was praising Hussein Obama? Well….
At the invitation-only porkulus signing in Denver yesterday, President Obama exalted Namaste Solar, a Boulder-based company that made the solar panels adorning the Denver Museum of Science and Nature. The CEO of Namaste, Blake Jones, extolled his savior:
Blake Jones, CEO of Boulder-based Namaste Solar, said his company’s future is already looking brighter with the signing of the bill. Jones, who led Obama and Vice President Joe Biden on a tour of solar panels his company installed on the museum’s roof, said he had been considering laying off some of his 55 employees. Now, he’s looking to expand his work force by 40 percent by 2010, he said.
“We’re just one small business, creating one to two dozen jobs,” Jones said. “The point that I want to stress is that there are thousands of businesses just like ours that will be doing the same thing.”
Well, the little point I want to stress is that Namaste has already benefited from generous government largesse to prop up his business.
Namaste’s own website lays it out:
