Considering how few want to work for Tax Cheat Geithner in the first place, does anyone else find this odd, or a bad idea by Timmy? From Michelle Malkin’s site, she mentioned an article today in the WSJ about this “Put on leave” moment, and how odd it is:
WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)–The acting director of the Office of Thrift Supervision has been put on leave pending a review of the agency’s role in the backdating of capital infusions by some banks, the agency said Thursday evening.
OTS said in a surprise statement that Scott Polakoff, who has been serving as acting director of the OTS, would be replaced by OTS Chief Counsel John Bowman during the review by the Treasury Department.

Before its portfolio of bad loans helped trigger the current housing crisis, mortgage giant Freddie Mac was the focus of a major accounting scandal that led to a management shake-up, huge fines and scalding condemnation of passive directors by a top federal regulator.
One of those allegedly asleep-at-the-switch board members was Chicago’s Rahm Emanuel—now chief of staff to President Barack Obama—who made at least $320,000 for a 14-month stint at Freddie Mac that required little effort.
As gatekeeper to Obama, Emanuel now plays a critical role in addressing the nation’s mortgage woes and fulfilling the administration’s pledge to impose responsibility on the financial world.
Emanuel’s Freddie Mac involvement has been a prominent point on his political résumé, and his healthy payday from the firm has been no secret either. What is less known, however, is how little he apparently did for his money and how he benefited from the kind of cozy ties between Washington and Wall Street that have fueled the nation’s current economic mess.

Zeituni Onyango – Obama’s illegal alien aunt back in Boston, “private” court date set for April 1st for deportation
As our tax dollars continue to pay for Hussein Obama’s illegal alien aunt Zeituni Onyango public housing, her court date is set for April 1st. She was last seen partying it up with the others like Obama’s muslim grandmother on January 20th. The Boston Globe has the following article:
President Barack Obama’s aunt, a Kenyan immigrant who ignited controversy last year for living in the United States illegally, has returned to her quiet apartment in a Boston public housing project to prepare for an April 1 deportation hearing that will be closed to the public…
…”The case is unusual in American history because it’s a relative of the president involved in immigration matters,” said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Washington-based Center for Immigration Studies. “It really does present the White House with an opportunity or a minefield. If they follow through on a decision that she should go home, that would actually raise the president’s credibility enormously on immigration enforcement.”
Obama has said that he has not had any involvement in the case and that it should run its ordinary course, White House spokesman Ben LaBolt said.
Onyango’s fate will play out behind closed doors before Judge Leonard Shapiro in Boston. Onyango’s lawyer, Margaret Wong of Ohio, successfully argued to reopen her case in December and have the proceedings closed to the public, according to the Executive Office for Immigration Review, which oversees immigration courts.
Onyango declined two requests for interviews in recent days, and told a reporter to stop wasting her time.
“I’m not happy,” Onyango said, bundled up in a parka against the spring chill as she went to pick up her mail.
Wong has not responded to repeated requests for comment. But her spokesman told the Cleveland Plain Dealer in January that Onyango would present new evidence to back an asylum claim. Onyango has lost several attempts to fight deportation, said immigration court spokeswoman Elaine Komis. In 2003, a judge ordered her to leave the country, and she lost on appeal. She tried again, but an immigration judge ordered her deported in October 2004. Komis would not confirm whether Onyango had sought asylum before now because, she said, asylum cases are confidential.
Shapiro, an immigration judge since 1990, rejected 68 percent of asylum requests from 2002 to 2007, higher than the state and national averages, according to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University. Asylum seekers must show that they fear persecution based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a social group.
Still, immigration lawyers said she has a chance because she managed to get a hearing.
And why exactly is the hearing closed to the public? Me thinks old Zeituni is gonna get some ‘special’ treatment.

Yesterday in the Washington Post, there was a story reporting that the Obama administration’s vehemently denies that it is backing away from the phrase “Global War on Terror.” Despite Hussein Obama’s attempt to lie through their teeth, a military source forwarded Michelle Malkin an internal e-mail trail that illuminates the whitewashing of the term.
Is anyone connected with Obama honest?
Transparency? Yeah, sure. So much for yet another promise made by Obama. In addition to the other items he has swept under the rug, there is a piece today about Rahm Emanuel playing a role in the housing meltdown. Obama about to betray Israel, says former intel official
You could see the muslim faith of Obama coming from a mile away. Those of you who will be surprised by this really shouldn’t be. According to Israel Today:
A former top US intelligence official warns that the Obama Administration is about to break America’s long ties of friendship with Israel, and maybe even take steps toward the dissolution of the Jewish state.
Speaking on condition of anonymity to Douglas Hagmann of the Northeast Intelligence Network, the source said:
“I have every reason to believe, based on what I’ve seen at my level of [security] clearance especially over the last several years, that Israel will soon be completely on their own… or worse.”
He went on to note that the betrayal likely won’t happen in one dramatic moment, but rather subtly, behind the scenes, and over the course of several years.
The Obama Administration is preparing to “provide more support to Arab countries [with] financial and military aid, undercutting Israel’s defense efforts all while pushing Israel to succumb to the pressure of unreasonable demands designed to end with their political annihilation as a nation,” said the source.
Israeli officials have of late noted a marked increase in the pressure from Washington to more rapidly acquiesce to Arab land-for-peace demands, and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has clarified that Washington is none to pleased with incoming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s refusal to commit to the creation of a sovereign Palestinian Arab state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Another Obama ‘test’ North Korea moves Taepodong missles to launch pad
US officials tell ABCNews that North Korea has begun placing a Taepodong 2 missile at a launch facility in preparation for what it says will be the launch of a communications satellite sometime between April 4 and 8th.
The launch has drawn concern from the United States and Asian countries because the same technology used to launch a satellite can be used to launch ballistic missiles and would amount to a test of North Korea’s ability to reach the United States with a ballistic missile.
One US official says that North Korea appears to have set up two stages of a three stage Taepodong 2 missile at the Musudan Ni launch facility located on the country’s northeast coast.
Tax Cheat Geithner to Seek Power Over Large U.S. Hedge Funds, Derivatives on Thursday

March 26 (Bloomberg) — Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will ask Congress to bring large hedge funds, private- equity firms and derivatives markets under federal supervision for the first time as part of a revamp of U.S. financial rules.
The Treasury chief will present his proposed framework at a House Financial Services Committee hearing in Washington today. Under the new so-called rules of the road, the government would get powers to seize and wind down any financial company big enough to destabilize the banking system.
The Obama administration is counting on public anger over the taxpayer-financed rescues of American International Group Inc., Bear Stearns Cos. and other firms to help it win approval for the changes, which could be the most sweeping since the 1930s. Policy makers want to improve the oversight of the financial system now rather than wait until the crisis is over, administration officials said on condition of anonymity.
“We have a moment now where there is broad-based will to change things that people did not want to change in the past,” Geithner said yesterday in a speech in New York. “We want to begin the process now of trying to build consensus while people recognize and are feeling so acutely the damage caused by those basic failures in regulation.”

Yet another Obama Cabinet failure – Jon Cannon quits due to Clean Water Foundation scandals
Another day, another Obama Cabinet appointee has to withdraw due to scandals. Jon Cannon, nominee for Deputy U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator. In all my years of witnessing politics, I have NEVER seen anything like this with a President selecting his cabinet. Sure there is always problems with some original appointees, but this is beyond a comedy show. As of the time of this post, naturally no MSM have any news stories up about this scandal/withdrawl yet, but Michelle Malkin found this EPA report from 2007 on how the America’s Clean Water Foundation mishandled three huge government grants totaling nearlly $26 million:
The Foundation did not comply with the financial and program management standards and the procurement standards promulgated in Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 30. Specifically, the Foundation (1) could not provide support for any of its general journal entries; (2) included duplicate transactions in its accounting system; (3) recorded labor charged to EPA grants incorrectly; (4) could not support the recorded indirect costs; (5) claimed unallowable preaward costs; (6) recorded EPA cash draws inaccurately; (7) did not submit required indirect cost proposals to EPA; (8) did not complete the required single audits for fiscal years ended June 30, 2003, June 30, 2004, and June 30, 2005; and (9) did not submit a Federal Cash Transactions Report when required.
The Foundation’s procurement practices and procedures did not comply with the grant regulations. The Foundation awarded sole source contracts without performing the cost/price analysis required by Title 40 CFR 30.45. It also awarded a contract to a member of its Board of Directors, contrary to the conflict of interest provisions at Title 40 CFR 30.42, and reimbursed a contractor for billings above contractual ceilings. Because the Foundation did not adequately document its costs and did not comply with the EPA regulations, we questioned the Federal share claimed of $25,372,590.
The America’s Clean Water Foundation disappeared soon after the discovery of financial shenanigans.
Jake DeSantis to AIG, Liddy – I QUIT! / The AIG mess expands
The fallout from the Barney Frank/Congress, Hussein Obama and Media RICHhunt against AIG execs is coming home to roost. The following is a letter sent on Tuesday by Jake DeSantis, an executive vice president of the American International Group’s financial products unit who worked for the hefty sum of $1 per year, plus bonuses to help AIG get out of its financial mess. The letter is to Edward M. Liddy, the chief executive of A.I.G from The New York Liberal/Obama Times who didn’t defend anyone aside from the “i’m afraid for their safety” remark to the Banking Queen:
DEAR Mr. Liddy,
It is with deep regret that I submit my notice of resignation from A.I.G. Financial Products. I hope you take the time to read this entire letter. Before describing the details of my decision, I want to offer some context:
I am proud of everything I have done for the commodity and equity divisions of A.I.G.-F.P. I was in no way involved in — or responsible for — the credit default swap transactions that have hamstrung A.I.G. Nor were more than a handful of the 400 current employees of A.I.G.-F.P. Most of those responsible have left the company and have conspicuously escaped the public outrage.
After 12 months of hard work dismantling the company — during which A.I.G. reassured us many times we would be rewarded in March 2009 — we in the financial products unit have been betrayed by A.I.G. and are being unfairly persecuted by elected officials. In response to this, I will now leave the company and donate my entire post-tax retention payment to those suffering from the global economic downturn. My intent is to keep none of the money myself.
I take this action after 11 years of dedicated, honorable service to A.I.G. I can no longer effectively perform my duties in this dysfunctional environment, nor am I being paid to do so. Like you, I was asked to work for an annual salary of $1, and I agreed out of a sense of duty to the company and to the public officials who have come to its aid. Having now been let down by both, I can no longer justify spending 10, 12, 14 hours a day away from my family for the benefit of those who have let me down.
You and I have never met or spoken to each other, so I’d like to tell you about myself. I was raised by schoolteachers working multiple jobs in a world of closing steel mills. My hard work earned me acceptance to M.I.T., and the institute’s generous financial aid enabled me to attend. I had fulfilled my American dream.
I started at this company in 1998 as an equity trader, became the head of equity and commodity trading and, a couple of years before A.I.G.’s meltdown last September, was named the head of business development for commodities. Over this period the equity and commodity units were consistently profitable — in most years generating net profits of well over $100 million. Most recently, during the dismantling of A.I.G.-F.P., I was an integral player in the pending sale of its well-regarded commodity index business to UBS. As you know, business unit sales like this are crucial to A.I.G.’s effort to repay the American taxpayer.
The profitability of the businesses with which I was associated clearly supported my compensation. I never received any pay resulting from the credit default swaps that are now losing so much money. I did, however, like many others here, lose a significant portion of my life savings in the form of deferred compensation invested in the capital of A.I.G.-F.P. because of those losses. In this way I have personally suffered from this controversial activity — directly as well as indirectly with the rest of the taxpayers.
I have the utmost respect for the civic duty that you are now performing at A.I.G. You are as blameless for these credit default swap losses as I am. You answered your country’s call and you are taking a tremendous beating for it.
But you also are aware that most of the employees of your financial products unit had nothing to do with the large losses. And I am disappointed and frustrated over your lack of support for us. I and many others in the unit feel betrayed that you failed to stand up for us in the face of untrue and unfair accusations from certain members of Congress last Wednesday and from the press over our retention payments, and that you didn’t defend us against the baseless and reckless comments made by the attorneys general of New York and Connecticut.
We ‘GIVE’ the government another $6 billion boondoggle / The Government ‘SERVES’ itself
The so called GIVE Act is a new $6 billion boondoggle for voluntary “national service”. Michelle Malkin’s syndicated column today looks at this Trojan Horse. The Republicans who actually voted for this Trojan Horse are just another example as to why the so called ‘Republicans’ in congress need to be ousted for REAL conservatives. It’s a bad plan as Hotair mentions, with its five-year cost projection looking like a very odd idea in a time when Capitol Hill has screeched over $165 million in contractual compensation for people doing actual jobs.Since its inception, AmeriCorps has been a bipartisan-supported joke.
Geithner speaks, dollar plummets, now tax cheat is open to the ‘China Proposal!’
Treasury Secretary and Tax Cheat Tim Geithner sent the dollar tumbling after comments he made about China’s ideas for overhauling the global monetary system. According to Bloomberg:
Geithner was initially asked at a Council on Foreign Relations event in New York about proposals from People’s Bank of China Governor Zhou Xiaochuan for a new international reserve currency. He said “as I understand his proposal, it’s a proposal designed to increase the use of the IMF’s special drawing rights. And we’re actually quite open to that.”
The dollar slid as much as 1.3 percent against the euro within 10 minutes of news accounts of Geithner’s remarks. The U.S. currency was down 0.6 percent at $1.3553 as of 12:31 p.m. in New York.
Roger Altman, who worked with Geithner as deputy Treasury secretary in the Clinton administration, later asked Geithner whether he wanted to “clarify” his remarks.
“I’d like to ask one final question, in effect on behalf of the market,” said Altman, founder of Evercore Partners Inc. “Let me ask the question this way. Do you see any change over the foreseeable future in the basic role of the dollar as the world’s key reserve currency?”

Obama trades in the trusty old teleprompter for a big screen TV instead
Was this an effort to make sure he didn’t just thank himself in last night’s press conference? Obama read that boring and pointless opening statement from one massive TV monitor from the back and middle of the East Room. White House officials removed the normal glass teleprompters that usually are positioned on both sides of the podium. That change likely a reaction to the focus on the President’s heavy use of teleprompters.” Did the White House think no one would show the TV instead? Knowing their arrogance, I wouldn’t be surprised.
Good news. At least he didn’t need his teleprompter to ask Ann Compton’s “hardball” question about race.
Joy Behar outdoes Obama on a retard joke!
WTF is it with these pathetic liberals anyway? In attempting to defend Barack Obama’s insensitive comment about the Special Olympics, that old washed up Behar hurled what could be considered an even a worse insult:
“The guys past does not reflect on his comments. It’s not like he’s made insensitive remarks or he’s cut funding for Special Olympics or something bad against the retarded.”
To someone with a mental disability, to a parent of a child who is mentally disabled or someone who works with the mentally disabled, retarded is a horrible epithet. It is as bad as the ugliness of racial and misogynistic epithets.
