   THE LETTER OF ANDREW C. MCCARTHY TO ERIC HOLDER: DECONSTRUCTION TIME…

   i was curious to find out about the background of andrew c. mccarthy, author of the, umm, ‘impassioned’ letter written to attorney general eric holder circulating on the internet today, and i wasn’t disappointed either.

   first, this letter was a declination to take part in the ‘President’s Task Force on Detention Policy’ discussion about what to do with the prisoners at gitmo. holder just as well should have sent out an R.S.V.P. card with two boxes, ‘yes, i am attending’, or ‘no, i am not attending’, instead of inviting this far-right lunatic mccarthy(where have i heard that description before?) to grandstand(just who leaked it to the press, anyway?).

   he did so with inflammatory words barely germane, or wholly irrelevant, to the task at hand–it’s kind of funny too, as he can’t conceal his contempt for either holder or obama. it’s laced with sarcasm, too–this is how he addresses the attorney general of the united states?

   his first bit of sarcasm is drawing the distinction between the old vs. new description of the prisoners:

   later in the same paragraph, he implies dangerous prisoners will be let off scot-free when they close down gitmo(notice the use of the provocative word, ‘provocative’):

   next paragraph, in total:

   OK, got to get a mention in about torture policy!…’good faith advice’?…from john yoo?…’dismayingly clear’?

   check out this brief, but loaded paragraph, especially the start of it:

   such sanctimony!…and as the last sentence indicates, it’s all about him!

   this is a real gem, more than i have ever hoped for!:

   …he is simply justifying the aggressive war in iraq as ‘defensive’, pointing out congress’s authorization(so it couldn’t be bush’s fault!), and the mention of 9/11, and the victims’ “annihilation”(should have seen that coming–did bush write this?).

   a few more gems:

   …which ‘hyperbolic rhetoric’ do you mean? (trick question)

   …what would a far-right screed be without a mention of illegal immigration?

   …charade? OK, that’s fair enough. but why all the drivel?

   …he concludes by saying:

   …HARUMPH!!!

   wha?…HUH?! i mean, what ‘character and integrity’!

   this ‘letter’ is nothing more than a full-blown, right-wing drama queen hissy-fit rant from a political hack that makes one ask, ‘tell me how you REALLY feel, andrew!?!’…and if you need any more evidence of how he feels towards obama, here’s an all-to-telling quote from mccarthy just before the election:

   “I believe that the issue of Obama’s personal radicalism, including his collaboration with radical, America-hating Leftists, should have been disqualifying.”

   hamilcar claudius, I would pay attention to what you wrote if you at least learned the rules of capitalization. Until then, it’s impossible to take you seriously.
