Irony of Ironies – Michelle Obama tells UC Merced graduating students to ‘give something back’

mo_ugly.jpgYes, the same Michelle Obama who was wearing $540 sneakers at a “soup kitchen” earlier this month. The same Michelle Obama who sneered at the $600 “stimulus” checks send out to people during the Bush administration. The same Michelle Obama, of the Obama couple who donated a whopping < 1% of Their 2000-2004 income. Yes, that Michelle Obama is telling graduates at UC Merced to “give something back”.

“You will face tough times. You will certainly have doubts, and let me tell you because I know I did when I was your age,” she said. “Remember that you are blessed. Remember that in exchange for those blessings, you must give something back. You must reach back and pull someone up. You must bend down and let someone else stand on your shoulders so that they can see a brighter future.”

Oh BTW, Michelle Malkin also has a reference to an article of exactly how much this whole shindig cost the city. The Merced Sun-Star had a story on May 1st that mentioned how the UC Merced’s commencement budget had ballooned from $100,000 to $700,000 after first witch Michelle Obama accepted the invitation to give the keynote address.

Personally, I love the title of Daily Gator’s post about this: Michelle “Guns” Obama to grads, GIVE BACK!

And, the charitable donation they used as a tax deduction went to Trinity United Church! Boy, no one talks about the good old Reverend anymore do they? Tax deductible donations, the place where their kids were baptized, and the place they went every Sunday for twenty years…nah, no big influence in their lives. Starting to make more sense now, though, hmmm? Class warfare, bully tactics, union backing, and the tax tipping point where 51%+ receive instead of pay…”With governmental dependence for all”.

Sure, go out be successful and give back some of the money that the government will not need to finance the debt generated by this administration. Michelle gives mixed message to grads. One part of the formula is missing. You have to have something to share. Oh, I forgot that is the governments responsibility to redistribute the wealth that successful college grads may be able to accumulate. But I guess the premise to the whole sermon that she was preaching is that people who want success are greedy and need to be told to share.

Actually she is wrong on so many levels. “Giving” is not something that “must” be done, but something that should, and does in so many different ways, come from the heart. Each person should give according to what stirs their compassion, they should not be coerced, mandated or lectured to “give”. “Giving back” as she mentions implies -as J.Galt states here: http://www.whoisjohngalt.com/2009/05/giving-back.html that something has been taken from someone else…a common theme from the Obamas.
