California’s Proposition 8 upheld but…….

The California Supreme Court today upheld the gay marriage ban constitutional amendment aka Proposition 8 in California, voted on last November. In a 6-1 split decision, Gays married before the ban stay married, but no more gay marriage in the state FOR NOW. You can read the court’s decision from this PDF document. How, this decision basically guarantee’s another fight at the ballot box. and you will probably see another proposition  on the ballot for gay marriage around the time of the mid-term elections next year. And now the San Fransico Chronicle is urging its readers to “protest” via cell phones.

Wells v. Allen (a 1918 appeals court case allowing pre-existing common-law marriages to stand after a ban on common law marriages) was the precedent cited in the retroactivity issue.

I’m a conservative hetorosexual white Christian male and I could care less if gays marry, and as a matter of fact I wish they could so we could move on to more important issues. Anybody that thinks it is a “choice” is ignorant and I don’t know what to say about it except that we should concern ourselves with more important issues of liberty and freedom. Let’s put this issue behind us and move on to more important stuff.

I would ask that gays that want to marry in a Catholic church give it some time and don’t be jerks about it. It will happen eventually. Don’t define yourselves by your sexuality. It will take some time whether you like it or not. Let’s concentrate on more important issues of liberty and freedom. Most of us know it’s biological and not a “choice” so get over it. We do understand. Let’s move on.

I would ask all gay men and gay women to join the conservative movement. We recognize individuals and not groups of victims. We are tolerant and not condescending. You’re no different than the rest of us so… shut up! There’s work to be done!
