Social Security trust fund assets gone by 2037 – four years earlier than originally thought
Medicare and Social Security, the two main safety nets for American retirees, will account for more than 17 percent of the nation’s output by 2083 if left unchecked, according to Bloomberg. 2083? I doubt i’ll be around by then anyway. However, by the year 2037, i fully expect to be around at the ripe old age of 65. Just in time for retirement and social security right? Ummm. Not so much. The Social Security trust fund will run out of assets in 2037, four years sooner than previously forecast, the trustees said yesterday. Medicare’s hospital fund will be exhausted by 2017, two years earlier than predicted a year ago. Now, let me show you a quote from Harry Reid back in the year 2005 when the GOP warned about the impending insolvency:
“Today’s report confirms that the so-called Social Security crisis exists in only one place — the minds of Republicans,” said Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada. “In reality, the program is on solid ground for decades to come.”
Considering what an old wretch Harry Reid is, I guess he has no reason to care either.

Oh and in case you missed it, the Wall Street Journal mentioned earlier in the day that Senate leaders are considering new federal taxes on soda and other sugary drinks to help pay for an overhaul of the nation’s health-care system. Maybe Obama’s FDA should consider a Cheerios “drug” tax too.

Michelle Malkin posts an update for all those interested in seeing how well our “too important to read” stimulus bill is working. Here are is a perfect example of how well the porkulus is working out: Dead people are getting money from the stimulus. Millions of Americans on Social Security are receiving $250 checks as part of the BS stimulus including a woman named Anne Arundel woman who died in 1967. But I guess its not as bad as giving $2.6 million to help Chinese Prositutes how better to handle their liquor. Or pig odor research.

According to CNS, we are now paying China $2.6 million in US taxpayer money to “train Chinese prostitutus to drink responsibly on the job”. The National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAA), a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will be spending the money for you.

The senator of North Dakota, where Roxana Saberi, said the Iranian government has rectified a “terrible miscarriage of justice,” and officials said she is now free to leave the country. Roxana Saberi was originally arrested in Iran back in January. The Iranisn’s first excuse was because she had attempted to buy “bootleg liquor”, then they charged with working in Iran without proper press credentials. Eventually the Iranians charged Roxana Saberi with a BS spying charge.

General Motors Bankruptcy All But Inevitable – Another $15.4 billion down the toilet
So what does $15.4 in already wasted tax payer money buy us? More than likely another bankrupt auto maker General Motors, which will probably end up something like Chrysler with 55% UAW ownership. For General Motors Corp., the task at hand is so difficult that experts say a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing is all but inevitable.
To ‘remake’ itself outside of court, GM must persuade bondholders to swap $27 billion in debt for 10 percent of its risky stock. On top of that, the automaker must work out deals with its union, announce factory closures, cut or sell brands and force hundreds of dealers out of business — all in three weeks. More from Fox News:

Dick Cheney is not someone who i’d normally listen to for any sort of advice, or anything else. I’ve never been much of a fan of Cheney. While I agree with (if you were forced to pick between the two). Moderates and independants can’t stand Rush Limbaugh, and I can’t stand Colin Powell and his turncoat ways. Frankly, the GOP may be better off without EITHER of the two. Rush Limbaugh is polarizing, a loud mouth, among other things that turns off people. Colin Powell on the other hand basically endorsed the community organizer and has been consistent in his assertions that Republicans need to become “moderate” and by that he means dispensing with the core values. Colin Powell, for whatever credibility he had left after stabbing W in the back, lost every last drop of it when he basically kissed up to Hussein because black. Had this been Hillary, you wouldn’t have heard a word from Powell.
Tax cutter Obama proposes to raise taxes $60 billion over 10 years
The Hussein Obama administration will propose $60 billion in new tax increases over 10 years on wealthy estates, businesses and others to make up for shortfalls in its fund to pay for an expensive overhaul of the health-care system. According to Fox News:
The measures go beyond plans the White House has announced in the past few weeks. Officials said that upon further analysis they realized that they had overestimated savings and tax increases proposed in February to help pay the bill.
The full proposals will come Monday when the White House releases a detailed analysis of its budget blueprint. Administration officials described the new proposals not as tax increases, but as eliminating “tax loopholes.”

Don’t know what he accomplished for the good of his state, but he left his name in a place that will guarantee he is never forgotten. How about your states? Are they littered with monuments to your Representatives and Senators? Have you ever wondered how these things came to be built? Was it because the men and women behind the famous names did such a good job of representing the best interests of their constituents–or was it because they were in Washington long enough to figure out how to use taxpayer’s money to enhance their own legacies?
