They were apprehended in large sweeps of people; some were denounced by personal enemies for a reward. In light of that it seems important to realize that no amount of punishment of the wrong people will make us safer. Just indiscriminate violence against 'somebody, anybody' is not Christian. Also, it is known (no thanks to any Democrats) that waterboarding, for instance, is one of the milder things that were done to people; more than 20 died from torture. I do not believe that those who cling to the hope that this will help our country are giving much thought to what being a torturer does to the person who's doing it. Please, those of you are Christian, tell me where Jesus did anything like this, or condoned it.
