At Least 2 Shot Inside Holocaust Museum in Washington DC – Shooter James Von Brunn in custody, RIP Stephen Tyrone Johns

Stephen Tyrone Johns was the guard who was shot and killed by nutjob James Von Brunn. Stephen Tyrone Johns was described as a soft-spoken, gentle giant,” by Milton Talley, a former employee of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. RIP Mr. Johns.

This is a developing story. At least two people were shot after someone  opened fire inside the national Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. The suspect has been arrested, according to a law enforcement source. Fox News and CNN have live coverage of this now at the time of this post.

The nutjob wasn’t a muslim, or a right wing extremist, or a left wing extremist, rather a white supremacist nutjob James von Brunn, an 88-year-old white supremacist from Maryland. More from CNN:

Von Brunn served six years in prison on federal attempted kidnapping, assault and firearms charges after what he called a citizen’s “legal, nonviolent citizens arrest” of members of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.

On his Web site, “Holy Western Empire,” von Brunn said he was “convicted by a Negro jury, Jew/Negro attorneys, and sentenced to prison for eleven years by a Jew judge.”

“He is in our files going back way into the 1980s,” said Heidi Beirich, a researcher for the Montgomery, Alabama-based Southern Poverty Law Center.

“He has extremely long history with neo-Nazis and white supremacists. He’s written extremely incendiary publications, raging about Jews, blacks and the like.”

While this shouldn’t be turned into some political fartfest, naturally left wing loon hate sites such as Daily Kos have begun the blame game from the “evil tea party goers (according to Malkin’s post linked above). Here are other’s responses to that Kos left wing extremist.

Donald Douglas: “The spin on the left is that the suspect, James Von Brunn, is an agent of the GOP’s “Christian-fascist” base. The truth is, via Melissa Clouthier, this guy’s a deranged Holocaust denier. He represents no one on the conservative right – not me, nor any of those with whom I associate.”

Melissa Clouthier: “Remember, Markos, it’s our President who is wanting to meet with another Holocaust denier, President Ahmadinejad.”

    Paranoid rhetoric about a gun ban that doesn’t exist and a birth certificate that does exist. You “Osama Bin Tea-baggers” are starting to become dangerous. Trying to get recruited by the Al Qaeda? I don’t believe that Janet Napalitano should come out and retract her apology over a report that now has merit beyond belief but some of that good old-fashioned warrant less wiretapping might be in order for the sake of our national security. Maybe Gitmo should remain open for all you extremists who dislike your country so much.

    Its these type of extremists are the reason why there is no gun ban. So we can shoot you.
