Some of you may remember Sheila Jackson Lee about a month ago authoring a congressional resolution honoring Michael Jackson. That showed where Shelia Jackson Lee’s priorities were then. Yesterday in Texas, she yet again showed where her priorties laid, and again it wasn’t with the people of Houston. An elite group of 21 US researchers met publicly for the first time last week as the new advisory panel to US President Barack Obama on scientific and technical matters. But despite an enthusiastic inaugural meeting, it will take time to know how effective the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) will be.
PCAST has already put together its first report, on the government’s H1N1 pandemic strategy. Other topics likely to be high on its agenda include how science can help the economic recovery, and how best to deliver on Obama’s ambitious climate and energy research portfolio.
Opening the meeting on 6 August, co-chair John Holdren called the council “a spectacular cast of leaders of our science, technology and innovation communities”. Holdren, who is Obama’s chief science adviser, chairs PCAST with Harold Varmus, former director of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, and Eric Lander, director of the Broad Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The full group boasts three Nobel laureates and 16 members of the national academies of science, engineering or medicine.

The gaffe arose from the inherent contradiction of those arguing for the introduction of a government government-run plan. On the one hand, Obama and other supporters of the idea argue that we need to have a strong government plan to create more efficiency, drive down prices, and “keep private insurers honest.” Yet at the same time, they have to make it appear weaker to push back against those of us who argue that it will threaten private insurance and move us toward a single-payer system. So then you get statements in which Obama, in the course of arguing for a government-run system, takes a shot at the government-run post office.

Gateway Pundit is reporting today that Kenneth Gladney, the man who was beaten by the SEIU thugs sent by Obama last Thursday at the Russ Carnahan townhall meeting in St. Louis, will file hate crime charges against his attackers. 5 people were arrested at the town hall meeting after the public beating of Gladney. At least one of the thug attackers called him a n**ger before pummeling him.

Who is Elston K. McCowan? Well, according to St. Louis Tea Party website, he was a community organizer for more than 23 years (like Obama). McCowan is also the Public Service Director of SEIU Local 2000 – and board member of the Walbridge Community Education Center, and if that isn’t enough, he is also is a Baptist minister. Remind of you Jerimiah Wright? He is also the man who beat up Kenneth Gladney last week when Gladney was passing out “Don’t tread on me” buttons. Lastly, McCowan is currently running Mayor St. Louis, not as a Democrat, but under the ‘Green’ Party.

Cash for Clunkers – more like Cash for Japanese automakers
Thus far, the “Cash for Clunkers” program has been the only “stimulus” program thats really “stimulated” anything. Of course, it ran out of money in the first part of its program within 4 days after it was supposed to last until October. Now with $2 billion MORE going to Cash for Clunkers, a lot of people would say, so what the problem? It got people out buying cars, hence “stimulating the economy”. That is true, but there are side effects. #1 is it takes perfectly good working cars off the road so they can be “crushed” and their engines sent to China. This host does not understand that Americans are sick and tired of 30-second talking points from politicians. Americans actually want to hear people like Peter Schiff articulate their position and point of view. Americans in vast numbers are abandoning cable news networks (with the exception of Fox News) because of stunts like this. Masschusetts, which is basically California east, and as liberal of a state as you’ll find isn’t even safe from the ‘well dressed’ people who want no part of ObamaCARE. Rep Nikki Tsongas of Massachusetts encountered actually questions about ObamaCARE, such as why isn’t congress subject to the same ObamaCARE plan as the people, and she dodged the question both times. As you will see in the video below, it wasn’t only the “well dressed”. There were as expected, plenty of bussed in liberals, doing their usual job of spouting profanity, holding up newly made ObamaCARE signs, and telling people to shhhhhh. Tsongas even uses a famous line from the Progressive Insurance commercial with her “apples to apples” comparison!
