ACORN stops “all new intakes” Bertha Lewis says due to “indefensible action of a handful of employees”
Amazing what a few days can do. We’ve gone from ACORN threatening to sue Fox News / James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles for exposing the criminal operation that ACORN is. The Maryland state attorney threatened to sue them too. Then the Census Bureau cuts ties with ACORN, then the Senate votes by a margin of 83-7 to defund the criminal operation ACORN. Suddenly, the threats of a lawsuit from ACORN have changed to shutting down operation aka stopping any “new intakes”. Here’s a great idea for a new song for John Rich who made Shuttin’s Detroit down. How about Shuttin’ ACORN down? Here’s Bertha Lewis’s statement from Fox News:
“As a result of the indefensible action of a handful of our employees, I am, in consultation with ACORN’s Executive Committee, immediately ordering a halt to any new intakes into ACORN’s service programs until completion of an independent review,” ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis said in a statement released Wednesday. “I have also communicated with ACORN’s independent Advisory Council, and they will assist ACORN in naming an independent auditor and investigator to conduct a thorough review of all of the organizations relevant systems and processes.”
