Dick Cheney to campaign for K.B. Hutchison

This one is a head scratcher for me. Of course, I’m not in Texas, so maybe there’s something I don’t know here, but Kay Bailey Hutchison always seemed like a RINO to me, and while Rick Perry may not be a “saint” he seems quite a bit more conservative than Hutchison. However, according to The Hill, The Hutchison campaign told the Austin American-Statesman Cheney would appear at a fundraiser next month to endorse Hutchison.

Cheney once again entered the national spotlight last week when he accused President Barack Obama of “dithering” on developing a new Afghanistan strategy. Though he has made controversial remarks in the past, Cheney will likely play well with the Republican base that will vote in the March primary.

A Hutchison campaign spokeswoman told the Statesman that Cheney is likely to appear at a Nov. 17 fundraiser for Hutchison in Houston.

Perry has done much to appeal to conservatives in his own right. In March, Perry rejected federal stimulus funds directed toward unemployment claims, saying they had too many strings attached.

Perry is gunning for his third term as Texas governor. He was elected in 2002 despite having served since 2000, filling out the remainder of former President George W. Bush’s term after he was elected president.

    KBH is a total RINO. What is with Newt Gingrich endorsing a RINO in New York, and now Dick Cheney? Something is in the water with these guys making them make bad decisions.
