Obama had to hire “expert” to learn how to salute

obama-pictureWell we knew Obama was never much of a fan of America, or saluting, so I guess this shouldn’t come as much a surprise. In a puff piece written by Politico, they reveal Obama needed the the guidance of an expert to learn how to salute! Yes, the “man” elected to lead this country back in 2008 doesn’t even know how to salute properly. Aides say Obama privately repeated his salute over and over again until he got it down.

“That attention to detail, that focus on the outward manifestation of what we expect, is compelling,” said retired Gen. Paul Eaton, who advised Obama during the presidential campaign. “Whoever worked with him on that did a pretty good job.”

Obama’s evolution as commander-in-chief during his first year in office largely involved proving that he was up to the job – that a 48-year-old former law professor and one-term U.S. senator who campaigned on ending the Iraq war had the resolve to lead the military through some of its toughest years in recent history.

Obama recently came under fire for his initial handling of the Christmas Day terror plot but his approval ratings on terrorism and foreign policy issues actually outpace his rankings on the domestic policy at the heart of his presidency, the economy and health care, according to the latest USA Today/Gallup poll. A war-weary public did not welcome his decision to add 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan, even though it won him praise from Republicans, but he’s received good marks for announcing a draw-down in Iraq.

    That actual makes me feel more appreciated. At least he is trying to to do it better.

    A well done salute returned from an officer always says a lot about him. You have some officers that will walk across the street rather than into a group of enlisted guys. You also have those that really want to return the respect and they do it well.

    If Obama is trying to do a better job of it, it makes me feel like he respects us a lot more than I thought he did.

    Then again it could all be for his image. That’s more probable.
