Scott Brown tells Barbara Walters he’s pro choice
In a liberal state like Massachusetts, Scott Brown claiming to be pro choice is a good thing. I just hope the Republican base doesn’t chastise him for his beliefs. As long as sticks to what he claimed to be for on the campaign trial, of lower taxes, tough national defense, and stopping ObamaCARE, I can accept a difference in opinion on a matter such as this. According to USA Today, during the interview with Walters, Brown as asked if he is pro-choice, Brown said:
“Yes, because I feel this issue is best handled between a woman and her doctor and her family.”
While this decision should ultimately be made by the woman in consultation with her doctor, I believe we need to reduce the number of abortions in America.
I believe government has the responsibility to regulate in this area and I support parental consent and notification requirements and I oppose partial-birth abortion. I also believe there are people of good will on both sides of the issue and we ought to work together to support and promote adoption as an alternative to abortion.
Scott Brown also says that states should decide the issue of gay marriage, not the federal government, which I also totally agree with. during an interview that aired today on ABC’s This Week.
And on the marriage issue that you brought up, it’s settled here in Massachusetts, but I believe that states should have the ability to determine their own destiny and the government should not be interfering with individual states’ rights on issues that they deal with on a daily basis.
