David Paterson about to be “Spitzerized” by the New York Times and resign this week?

david-patersonMaybe some elitist snob liberal can educate me on this one. If David Paterson resigns, after Eliot Spitzer was already forced to resign, who would become Governor of New York? Is it the Attorney General of New York? At the time of this post, this still purely a rumor, and there is no confirmation from any media source. In fact, the Business Insider article spoke with a member of governor Paterson’s communications team who naturally denies that the governor is planning to resign. That official also confirmed though that there is a New York Times story in the works, but it wouldn’t be released on Monday, February 8th.

According to the Business Insider, a rumor emerged that the New York Times is working on a huge bombshell with plans to “Spitzerize” New York governor David Paterson. The New York Daily News describes the report as “much worse” than the Paterson’s previous admission of an affair with a state employee.

Specifically, Corbitt rejected a recent Page Six report that a trooper on Paterson’s security detail discovered the governor in a utility closet at the executive mansion “embracing” and “snuggling” a woman who was not his wife and that this incident spurred Paterson to change protocols and bar troopers from the residence altogether.

“In order for security measures to remain effective, those responsible for implementing them are occasionally put in the difficult position of not being able to defend themselves by disclosing the details of those measures,” Corbitt wrote.
“I can assure you that our troopers are ethical and diligent in the performance of all their duties.”

The information published about alleged recent protocol changes in security at the Governor’s Mansion is just plain wrong. The events allegedly occurring within the last 10 weeks would have been impossible under the current protocols, which have been in place for almost a year.”

A reader pointed out an unusual letter to the editor in this morning’s Post from State Police Superintendent Harry Corbitt, who defends his boss, Gov. David Paterson, against alleged “lies” that have been perpetuated in the press of late.
