Scott Brown votes for cloture on Porkulus 2.0

Brown’s vote didn’t make the difference on cloture passing, as 3 other RINOs voted for it as well: Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and George Voinovich. But one has to wonder. With Brown also campaigning for McCain this year, is he really a RINO too? Or simply voting for something he truely believes will help his state and the country? As much as I don’t like it, I’m still not yet willing to group Scott Brown into the same group of RINOs like McCain, Collins, Snowe, Christ, etc. I’ll still take Scott Brown over Martha Coakley. However, one has to be wonder now, what is Brown’s view on Cap and Trade? Is he going to be in favor of the new ObamaCARE bill? What about card check?

“I came to Washington to be an independent voice, to put politics aside, and to do everything in my power to help create jobs for Massachusetts families,” Brown said in a statement. “This Senate jobs bill is not perfect. I wish the tax cuts were deeper and broader, but I voted for it because it contains measures that will help put people back to work.”

I’m a Massachusetts conservative and a Brown supporter. Although I was disappointed, I was not surprised. He’s grown accustomed to being outnumbered and grasping at the scraps he can gather for his causes and I think that’s what happened. He’s also an independent thinker and he won’t allow a party to dictate to him what to do. I think that’s the situation for all New England politicians that are Republicans. I don’t think they realize that it is the other side that is outnumbered now and he or she can demand corrections, amendments, and have the ability to demand that they be heard. I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt but that was Strike One.

This should be no surprise to people who actually listened to Scott’s rhetoric. He said on a number of occasions that while he was running under the Republican party, he would vote for pork bills if it helped his state… The better Tea Party candidate was Joe Kennedy, not Scott Brown.

I have a feeling he’ll be joining the list of RINO’s soon enough

This may be deleted but I will make 3 short points so hear me out. First what are the three things that republicans say they want: tax cuts, lower deficit spending, and cut down the size of government.

Tax cuts: The democrats have proposed several bills, like the one that this so called RINO Brown voted for. Republicans continue to oppose even bills with tax cuts in them, and even ones they co-sponsored for political reasons only.

Lower deficit spending: Regan was the most well known conservative hero. The deficit as a percentage of GDP raised (189% to be exact) under him higher than any president out of the last 6 presidents. In addition, the republicans say that they want to cut down the deficit, but when the proposed cuts are in their congressional districts, they oppose them.

Cutting size of Govt: What does this mean? Well it means that some government programs and services must be cut. To do this, it would require cutting things like social security, medicare, medicaid, and veterans administration. I want…ok I mean I dare a republican to stand up in front of cameras and state that medicare or social security should be cut. We all know that that person would not be elected to office again.

This means that republicans say they want all these things but when it comes down to it, they are impossible to implement. Don’t get me wrong, there are numerous things that I don’t like with the democratic agenda either, but at least they aren’t campaigning on an impossible set of ideals. I don’t know why republicans campaign on these morals, but they will never follow through on these promises. That is my main beef with the republican party.
