Hispanic Groups Criticize Donny Deutsch for calling Marco Rubio a ‘Coconut’

marco-rubioThe racist slur coconut directed at a Hispanics, Indians or Filipino individuals is very similar to the slur “oreo” used towards African Americans. The slur is basically meant as a person who is tan on the outside and white on the inside. Yet when liberal progressives make such racist comments, such as the douche bag Donny Deutsch, it should come as no big surprise that it doesn’t raise an uproar in the liberal biased lame stream media. Hispanic groups such as the Hispanic Leadership Fund and the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, which represents more than 6,000 Latino elected officials are demanding that Deutsch apologize for his racist smear against Rubio, according to Fox News.

The non-profit conservative-leaning Hispanic Leadership Fund called Donny Deutsch’s use of the term “coconut” to describe Rubio “disgusting racism.”

“We call on every Hispanic organization in the country to forcibly denounce Donny Deutsch’s despicable racial smear. This kind of vile attack has no place in 21st century America. If Deutsch has any sense of decency he will apologize profusely to all American Hispanics,” Hispanic Leadership Fund President Mario H. Lopez said in a statement.

Deutsch entered into the controversy earlier this week when he described Rubio, a Cuban-American, as a “coconut,” a term that is considered a racially-derogatory term by some Latino activist groups.

The moniker implies that a Hispanic is a sell-out, or brown on the outside but white on the inside.

Deutsch made the remarks during a TV segment on HLN’s Joy Behar Show in which he was discussing the Republican Party and the Tea Party movement.

After calling Rubio a “coconut,” Behar said she didn’t know who Rubio is. Deutsch replied: “Marco Rubio. He’s running against Charlie Crist, who I think has done a great job. And (Rubio) is the new great, you know, hope down there.”

Deutsch replied on his Twitter account Tuesday night that he was unaware it was a racially-insensitive term.

“I said ‘coconut’ meaning simple, goofy, bananas,” Deustch tweeted. “Wasn’t even aware it could be a racially charged word.”

The nation’s largest organization of elected Latino leaders also weighed in on Deutsch’s remarks

“We should never resort to name calling. We can have genuine disagreements in an atmosphere of mutual respect without that kind of behavior,” said Arturo Vargas executive director of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, which represents more than 6,000 Latino elected officials.

“Name calling must never happen,” Vargas said.

Rubio spokesman Alex Burgos told Fox News that Rubio “is running a serious campaign about issues and ideas, not shameless attacks and name-calling.

We hope anyone involved in this race or following it with interest follows Marco’s example by engaging in a respectful, issues-based debate about Florida’s and our nation’s future,” Burgos said.

Ironic, they claim people who show respect to others as racist, but they are not themselves willing to show the smallest of respect and apologies.

The truth is these types of statements are created in the heart. It shows the internal character of the person – their internal sinful nature – It is not enough not to say such things; One must have love for their neighbor in their heart; that is abiding with Jesus. Anything less is moralism, and moralism does not save souls.

Someone should point out that Hispanic is not a race. And that Rubio is an obvious Caucasian of Spanish descent.

Actually, all people are coconuts because all people’s pigment is the same color, brown! Different people just have different levels of it. As for Rubio, he’s as White as the average White American. Anybody that can’t see this is a total moronic idiot and diserves to be kicked around royally! If Marco Rubio’s name was Tommy Hutchison or Jimmy Johnson, not a single soul would question him being White, but because he has a Spanish name, that makes him Non-White? What kind of failed logic is that? Suppose his name was Rene deCarte, a French name? Would having a French name make him Non-White? What about an Italian name, an Irish name, a Russian name, German, Greek, Swedish, Polish, etc., etc., etc? Cubans come in White, Mixed, and Black just like Americans. Rubio is of Cuban descent, White Cuban descent! Another important fact is that Hispanic is equal to the term Anglo. Both have nothing to do with race, color, or anything physical. They are languages and/or nations. Hispanics that move to America, and Anglo nation, and have kids here that speak English, are no longer Hispanic, but Anglo. And likewise, Anglo-Americans moving to a Hispanic nation and have kids there who speak Spanish are Hispanics. Both examples are regardless of race! When are you imbeciles going to comprehend these facts!?
