Chile hit with devastating 8.8 earthquake near the city of Concepcion
Chile has been hit was an incredibly strong earthquake, originally registering anywhere between 8.3 and 8.5 magnitude, near the city of Concepcion. Eventually it was measured at a magnitude of 8.8, which is about 500 times more powerful than the earthquake that hit Haiti. At the time of this post, 147 are reported dead. According to Fox News, the USGS reported, shaking buildings and causing blackouts in parts of the capital of Santiago. Please pray for the people of Chile and any victims of this quake! This sounds like it is going to be one of the strongest recorded earthquakes ever!

The earthquake struck 56 miles northeast of Concepcion at a depth of 34 miles at 3:34 a.m./1:34 EST/0643 GMT. The quake was initially reported at a magnitude of 8.3.
