House agrees to $1.9 trillion more debt
According to the AP, The House on Thursday voted to allow the government to go $1.9 trillion deeper in debt — or about $6,000 more for every U.S. resident.
The measure, approved 217-212, with all 217 votes coming from Democrats according to Michelle Malkin. Not even RINOs like Mark Kirk voted for it. This now raises the cap on federal borrowing to $14.3 trillion, just enough to get past the November elections, and into early 2011.
Eric Holder admits he ordered Miranda rights be read to Abdulmutallab after just 50 minutes of interrogation
In a nation of cowards, at least according to Eric Holder, he may be the biggest coward of them all. According to Politico, Attorney General Eric Holder has finally admitted that it was in fact him who made the decision to read the crotch bomber Abdulmutallab his Miranda rights after just 50 minutes of interrogations. Of course Holder much like everyone else in Obama’s adminstration is blaming Bush for doing this.
824,000 more jobs lost in 2009 than originally thought
There were already over 4 million jobs lost in 2009, a record for any President in modern history. That number may end up being on the low side, as Bloomberg is reporting this coming Friday when the government releases its annual revision to employment data.
The U.S. may lose 824,000 jobs when the government releases its annual revision to employment data on Feb. 5, showing the labor market was in worse shape during the recession than known at the time.
80 to 90 Democratic House Seats in Play?
According to National Review Online, 126 House Republican challengers — that’s those running in open seats or against Democratic incumbents — reported having at least $100,000 in their campaign accounts. Forty-two of those have at least $200,000, and 10 have at least $500,000.
There’s some overlap in competitive primaries. But the numbers generally support the view voiced by Republicans that they expect to put between 80 and 90 Democratic-held seats in play. They need to pick up 40 seats this year to take back control of the House.
And even candidates generally considered safe — such as Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., and Rep. David Wu, D-Ore. — are likely to face well-funded challengers this year.
Democrats Donna Edwards and John Conyers pushing constitutional amendment to overturn The First Amendment
The so called Progressives in the House are still fuming the recent Supreme Court ruling that struck down portions of the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Law. The same issue that caused Obama to throw a tantrum at the Supreme Court Judges during the State of the Union address. According to Jammie Wearing Fool, these so called “progressives” which are really regressives are working on a constitutional amendment to basically repeal the First Amendment!
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood tells Toyota owners to stop driving their cars! (Conflict of interest here?)
As Rahm Deadfish Emanuel said. Never let a good crisis to go to waste. Ray Lahood and this thugish Chicago style administration is following Emanuel’s lead pouncing on the Toyota ‘crisis’. Earlier today Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said owners of a recalled model should “stop driving it. Take it to a Toyota dealer because they believe they have a fix for it.” Knowing that at least some people see the conflict of interest here with the Government owning Chrystler and GM, LaHood walked back his statements a bit according to WCBS.
The Games are over – Scott Brown to be seated at 5pm on Feb 4
Over the weekend, it was reported that Scott Brown wouldn’t be seated until Feb 11th, nearly a month after he beat Martha Coakley in the MASEN election. Tired of waiting, and the game playing by the Massachusetts Democrats not certifying him yet, Scott Brown’s lawyer sent a letter to liberal Massachusetts Governor Duval Patrick today demanding that he be sworn in immediately. According to the Boston Globem, Massachusetts officials are now planning to formally certify the special US Senate election results today, allowing Senator-elect Scott Brown to be sworn in at any point afterward.
Could the GOP actually win back the Senate in November?
Dick Morris seems to think the GOP will take back the Senate in November by 2 votes for a total of 52. I am not as optimistic as Morris. There are some seats that are almost certain to go GOP such as Harry Reid’s seat, Blanche Lincoln’s seat and Dorgan’s vacated Senate seat. Other seats such as Michael Bennett’s seat in Colorado and Joe Biden’s old seat in Delaware are sounding more and more like they will go Republican as well. And there’s Pennsylvania where Arlen Specter isn’t exactly in a safe position either. That would give the GOP 46 seats. With Evan Bayh now being challenged by Dan Coats, that now puts the Indiana senate seat in play. Of course, there’s New York with 2 Dems (Schumer and much more likely Gillibrand) facing a strong challenge. In California Barbara Boxer is in a bit of trouble (though still ahead in the latest polls), and in Illinois RINO extreme Mark Kirk is taking on bank frauder Alexi Giannoulias. There was even polls released lately that Russ Feingold in Wisconsin trialed in the polls to Tommy Thompson should he choose to run and Patty Murry in Washington State in trouble. Even Politico is starting to wonder if the GOP can take back the Senate.
Ex Indiana Senator Dan Coats to challenge Democrat Senator Evan Bayh
In a recruiting coup, former GOP Sen. Dan Coats plans to challenge Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana in November, Republican officials said Wednesday to Fox News. The GOP has sought new opportunities to pick up seats and cut into the Democratic majority on Capitol Hill after Republican Scott Brown’s recent upset in a special Senate election in Massachusetts.
Fox News has its best January ever!
Pretty good for “not being a real news network” wouldn’t you say? As ABC, CBS, NBC, and even cable “news channels” like CNN and MSNBC continue to flounder and lose viewers, Fox News had its best January in the history of the network, and was the only cable news network to grow year-to-year according to Mediaite. Fox News has been around since October of 1996.

Obama gets back at Bart Stupak – kills $1 million scholarship fund at Northern Michigan University
Bart Stupak, the Michigan Democrat Congressman who insisted on the anti-government funded abortion amendment be included in the House version of Obama is being paid back, Chicago style. According to RedState, Congress funds a $1 million scholarship fund at Northern Michigan University for aspiring Olympic athletes. Robert Costa notes the scholarship was renamed in 1998 for Bart Stupak’s son who had committed suicide. However, it seems the new Obama budget of $3.8 TRILLION, that adds $1.6 TRILLION to the deficit kills this scholarship.

Republican John Boozman to enter Arkansas Senate race against Blanche Lincoln, as he leads her 56%-33% in the first PPP poll
Bye Bye Blanche. Left wing poll PPP says that John Boozman will enter the Arkansas Senate race this coming weekend as the Republican to challenge Blanche Lincoln. Based on the numbers relased by PPP, Boozman seems to be a shoe in to defeat Lincoln, at least as of today (and I don’t this changes much between now and November). The poll finds that Blanche Lincoln’s approval rating in the state has sunk to only 27%, and that Boozman has a 23% point lead over her. front runner. He leads incumbent Blanche Lincoln by an amazing 56-33 margin in our first poll of the race.
Sorry Las Vegas Obama just doesn’t like you as he disses the city again
Did Obama have a real bad night gambling and boozing in Las Vegas when he was younger? He sure doesn’t seem to like the city very much. You may remember last year (during February) he dissed the city when whining about corporate responsibility. Again today according to The Hill, at another town hall in New Hampshire trying to pitch ObamaCARE and his other propaganda, he trashed the city again.
Another Cornhusker Kickback
I don’t know what’s more shocking. The fact liberal biased ABC actually reported this, or the fact Nelson and the Democrats thought it wouldn’t leak out eventually via blogs, Fox News, or some source. ABC News’ Jonathan Karl report that just four days after Senator Ben Nelson voted for cloture on the Senate health care reform bill, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) cut a $459,000 check to the Nebraska Democratic Party, which was promptly used to tout Nelson’s “courageous” vote. Three days later, the DNC sent the Nebraska party another $20,000.
Canada’s health care system is so good, Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams going to America for heart surgery
Whoa, Canada! If your single-payer health care system is so great, why then is Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams coming to America for heart surgery? According to the CBC, Williams’s office provided few details, beyond confirming that he would have heart surgery and saying that it was not necessarily a routine procedure.
Reuters pulls story revealing backdoor taxes from Obama to hit the middle class
Earlier today, columnist Terri Cullen of Reuters posted an article exposing Obama’s plan to cut more than $1 trillion from the deficit over the next decade that will rely heavily on so-called backdoor tax increases. This will result in a bigger tax bill for middle-class families. Patriot Room grabbed a copy of the full article for you to read:
Finally! Scott Brown to be seated Feb 11th
It will only end up being nearly a month, or 23 days to be exact since Massachusetts Senator elect Scott Brown beat Martha Coakley. But according to The Hill, National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (Texas) announced on Twitter that Brown will finally be seated on Februrary 11th.
Sen-elect Scott Brown will be officially sworn in on [sic] Fri, Feb 11 at 12:45pm http://bit.ly/cBXDyk
Note: The bit.ly link is to some Facebook page, that doesn’t load for me for whatever reason.
Florida Republican Primary for Senate Marco Rubio 49% Charlie Crist 37%
The only real conservative in the race for the 2010 Florida Senate seat is Marco Rubio. Florida’s current Governor Charlie Crist is Rubio’s opponent in the Florida Republican Primary race for the seat. Charlie Crist makes RINOs such Lindsey Graham, John McCain and even Olympia Snowe look like strong conservatives. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely GOP Primary voters in the state finds Rubio leading Crist 49% to 37% which is great news! Three percent (3%) prefer another candidate, and 11% are undecided. Both Rubio and Crist would slaughter likely Democrat challenger Kendrick Meek.
U.S. Attorney Jim Letten Steps Down From O’Keefe Case
Does anyone find this a tad interesting? James O’Keefe appeared on the Hannity show tonight to state his case for the alleged “phone tampering” and media fueled lie of “wire tapping” Senator Landrieu’s phones. Though O’Keefe wouldn’t answer the question directly when asked by Hannity, there are now rumors going around that James O’Keefe sat in jail for 28 hours without even being given access to an attorney. Now according to Fox News, Jim Letten, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana, has stepped down from the case.
Sarah Palin endorses Rand Paul for Kentucky’s U.S. Senate seat
Sarah Palin is endorsing Rand Paul, the son of Ron Paul for Kentucky’s U.S. Senate race, rather than Republican Trey Grayson for the May’s primary election. The L.A. Times mentions that Palin is supporting Paul rather than Grayson because:
“it’s time to shake up the status quo in Washington and stand up for commonsense ideas.”
