Senate ObamaCARE bill dead on arrival in House says pro-life Democrats (yea right)

090828obamasignAgain, I don’t believe them, I believe like all Democrats who claim to be centrists, in the end they will show their progressive liberal colors and cave on the ObamaCARE bill. They sure talk a good game though, and some may actually believe them at this point. According to Fox News, the health care reform bill passed by the Senate on Christmas Eve appears to be dead on arrival in the House as seven Democratic opponents of abortion have joined a growing list of lawmakers who plan to vote against the legislation.

With seven new no votes, that’s more than enough to kill the bill, and several more lawmakers with potential no votes are under immense pressure from both sides of the aisle.

They include Reps. Brad Ellsworth Indiana, Jerry Costello of Illinois, Charlie Wilson and Tim Ryan of Ohio, Sanford Bishop of Georgia and Richard Neal of Massachusetts.

The lawmakers oppose the bill because it lifts a decades-old ban on federal funding for abortion services, pro-life House Democrats said Wednesday.

“Unless the language changes, there’s at least 12 Democrats who have said they could not vote for health care unless we keep the current law, which says no public funding for abortion,” Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., told Fox News.

If that number of “no” votes holds, it would be enough to halt heath care reform in the House.

The House bill contains a ban on tax-funded abortion, which has been the law of the land for more than 30 years.

The Senate bill is a big change, say critics. It would require women to have a separate private insurance policy if they want abortion coverage, but contains no explicit ban on tax-funded abortion as the House bill does.
