Anti-semitic New Hampshire Democrat Nick Levasseur says anime is a prime example of why two nukes just wasn’t enough (against the Japanese)

Remember, racist or anti-Semitic remarks aren’t really racist of anti-Semitic unless a Republican or conservative utters them. So with the Facebook statement of this New Hampshire Democrat nut Nick Levasseur of:

anime is a prime example of why two nukes just wasn’t enough

Don’t expect any outrage from the media, the so called for the minority Democrats, or the newspapers.

I’ll admit, I’m no fan of anime, I never was, and could never figure out why so many people are, but I would never make a statement on Facebook or anywhere else like this:

But again, i’m also not a Democrat

The reason that there will be no media outrage has nothing to do with political affiliations.

The reason that there will be no media outrage is that the media does not care about anime.

I look forward to the liberal conspiracy covering this one up, though. Or something.

Confirmation bias, eh? The only reason you’re not finding appalled progressive and liberal people is because you haven’t gone looking. I’m appalled, and most anime fans (who tend to be liberal and progressive) are appalled.

He has a point though. Anime is really lame.

Wait so the media doesn’t care about anime?

Don’t they care about someone wishing a whole culture were terrorized by nukes?

  • Anti Stupidity

First, your premise that the media is liberal is false. The media are conservative entities run by conservative companies that support war every time it is proposed, do not defend labor, give free air time to conservative pundits on an average greater than that of liberals, etc.

That being said, if you would like to see liberal outrage over the racist statement by Nick Levasseur, go to liberal Web sites like the Huffington Post that have reported it. Unlike conservative sites, liberals are not in lockstep agreement with everything (no matter how racist) one of their members says. Weigh that against conservatives consistent support for the racist speech of Rush Limbaugh or Sarah Palin, which is usually defended earnestly by the GOP.

    “Anime is really lame.”

Anime is a broad media. Imagine if someone said movies were lame, with no qualifiers or distinctions. Anime is not a genre, like rap or drama. Anime covers everything from children’s cartoons to murder mysteries to recreations of classic literature.

“Don’t they care about someone wishing a whole culture were terrorized by nukes?”

If a prominent politician posted “The sky is neon yellow” tomorrow morning, I wouldn’t care. That is an absurd statement that deserves no actual discussion. The sky is clearly not neon yellow, and anyone with a shred of common sense will ignore the statement.

So when a not-so-prominent politician (Nick who?) posts something that is clearly stupid to anyone with a shred of common sense, I find summoning my righteous outrage on the interwebs to be a difficult task. I don’t have the energy to get mad at every stupid thing I read, no matter what letter is next to a person’s name.

    ==========

The equivalent statement to what Nick Whatshisname said from an unknown Japanese politician would be “American TV shows are lame, we should attack Pearl Harbor some more.”

See how silly that sounds? Would you be insulted? Would you fear for your life because one Japanese guy wants to deny you American Idol and Lost?

Or would you have the common sense to ignore an absurd statement?

Funny joke! More people should understand that if you fight a war, it should be to protect your kids from what you don’t like. If you don’t have control over your own kids, your culture is gone. So… what did you fight for?

It is an insult, or at least a very disturbing comment to Japanese people like me. The atomic bomb attack is not something to be joked about since it killed 340.000 (incl. deaths from radiation disease in post-war period) and still many are suffering for radioactive pollution. Imagine what would you feel if someone (especially of high-profile!) dared to say there must be another 9/11?
He miserably lacks the delicacy and that’s enough to disqualify him as a rep of NH. Who’d want to have a politician who can’t put himself into other’s shoes?
