According to Fox News, the lawsuit, which names the state of Arizona as well as Gov. Jan Brewer as defendants, the Justice Department claims the federal government has “preeminent authority” on immigration enforcement and that the Arizona law “disrupts” that balance. It urges the U.S. District Court in Arizona to “preliminarily and permanently” prohibit the state from enforcing the law, which is scheduled to go into effect at the end of the month.

Day 77 BP Oil Spill: A Whale Super Oil Skimmer Tests Inconclusive, Day 76 Obama goes golfing AGAIN!
For the 8th time since the oil began leaking, Obama has hit the links, golfing again. It must have been a tough previous week campaigning and blaming Bush. From Gateway Pundit (via Free Republic):

Obama was criticized last month for his administration attacking BP’s CEO for attending a yacht race while at the same time Obama was playing golf yet again.
A search of Google News shows that no other news outlet mentioned Obama’s eighth golfing venture in the eleven weeks since the oil disaster started. Republicans made an issue of Obama’s work ethic a few weeks ago with a video that documented the time Obama has spent golfing and partying since April 20th.
The White House responded at the time by saying Obama’s numerous golf outings “does us all good as American citizens.” (I think they stole that line from the North Koreans.)
The White House pool is not allowed on the course at Andrews AFB to photograph Obama golfing. The most recent images of Obama on a golf course are from late April in Asheville, North Carolina–the first of two vacations Obama has taken since the oil spill.

The tests are to determine just how clean the water is being processed by the ten-story, 1000+ foot long ship. TMT, the company which owns the “A Whale”, claims that the world’s largest oil skimmer can process some 500,000 barrels of oily water per day, and can save some 20,000 barrels of reclaimed oil.

60% Favor Repeal of ObamaCARE
Sixty percent (60%) of voters nationwide favor repeal of the recently passed health care law, including 49% who Strongly Favor repeal. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 36% oppose repeal. That figure includes 24% who are Strongly Opposed. Forty-three percent (43%) believe repeal would be good for the nation’s economy. Twenty-seven percent (27%) believe repeal would be bad for the economy, while 20% say it would have no impact. Political Class voters strongly believe repeal would be bad for the economy, while most Mainstream Americans think repeal would help the economy.

67% Say Cities Have No Right To Ban Handguns
Sixty-seven percent (67%) of Americans say city governments do not have the right to prevent citizens from owning handguns, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Support for stricter gun control laws also has fallen to its lowest level in several years.
Twenty-four percent (24%) think cities do have the right to ban handgun ownership. The Supreme Court this week overturned a handgun ban in Chicago that opponents argue is a violation of the Second Amendment right of citizens to bear arms.
42% oppose Kagan’s Confirmation. 36% approve
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Voters shows that the plurality (42%) still opposes Kagan’s confirmation to the Supreme Court. Thirty-six percent (36%) favor her confirmation, and 22% are still undecided. These people aren’t stupid though. Eight-seven percent (87%) say it’s at least somewhat likely Kagan will be confirmed as a Supreme Court justice. They know that Republicans lack the backbone to oppose this radical nominee.

Billy Nungesser, president of New Orleans’ Plaquemines Parish, sensed that a chart showing 140 oil skimmers at work — a chart given to him by BP and the Coast Guard — was “somewhat inaccurate.” So, Nungesser asked to fly over the spill to verify the number. According to CNSNEWS the flyover was cancelled three times before those officials admitted that just 31 of the 140 skimmers were actually deployed!
