Senator-Elect Rand Paul Pushes Earmark Ban
Mitch McConnell sure can’t be too happy about this.He hasn’t even started his first day in the Senate yet, and already, Senator-elect Rand Paul is looking to STOMP out earmarks in the Senate. In an interview with Fox News, Rand Paul said:
“I think ear markings are bad. There is some symbolism. Definitely the symbolism is bad. And, I think it encourages people to vote for large appropriations bills, because all of a sudden Mrs. Smith gets a museum in your hometown.”
Progressives had picked up a recent Rand Paul statement claiming that he supported ear marks, but once again Paul stomped on the BS spewed by the left and clarified.
“I’m opposed to ear marking and I won’t use ear marking personally. I have taken a pledge. There is a Citizens Against Government pledge that I took during the campaign. It was confusion over a reporter not understanding what I was saying.”
