Now that Egyptians are free of their dictator what are their views on issues like stoning people?

egypt-flagOne of two things are going to happen in Egypt. Either they will be a truely democratic country will free and fair elections and more liberties, or it will be Iran 2.0 and part of the Islamic caliphate. Based on the latest Pew poll of Egyptians from December of 2010, here are some of their opinions.

54% of Egyptians polled favor gender segregation in the workplace. This is second to only Pakistanis who were polled in the various Muslim countries.  82% of Egyptians polled favor stoning people who commit adultery. This is tied for the highest percentage among the countries polled with Pakistan. 77% of Egyptians favor whippings or the cutting off of hands of putting who commit theft, second only to Pakistan.  Lastly, 84% of Egyptians polled favor the death penalty to those who leave to “Muslim” religion. This is second only to Jordan.

If this isn’t bad enough, more Egyptians have a favorable view of Hamas (49%) than don’t (48%).
