Dingy Harry Reid’s $2.7 trillion cut plan – a lot of bullsh*t
Yesterday when CNN announced that Dingy Harry Reid would release a debt ceiling plan today, you had to know there would be some sort of Democrat schemes in it, especially with no tax increases. Well, it does as expected. The plan calls for raising the debt ceiling by the same amount that Reid’s plan “promises” to cut. Greta Van Susteren posts some of the details of Reid’s “plan” Among the cuts including a whopping $40 billion in waste, fraud and abuse. Can someone explain to me why these far left radical Democrats in the Senate don’t seek to cut out ALL or at least a much higher amount of waste, fraud and abuse? $40 billion probably doesn’t even cover a week’s worth.
Then the plan calls for $1.2 trillion in discretionary cuts including defense and non-defense spending. $100 billion mandatory saving that doesn’t affect Medicare, Medicaid, or SS benefits. A whopping $30 billion in corrupt Fannie/Freddie reforms. $15 billion in “spectrum sales” and “Universal Service Fund Reforms.” Between $10 and $15 billion in agriculture reforms. $1 trillion in savings from winding down the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and $400 billion in interest savings.
See, nothing but smoke and mirrors. The typical Democrat way. The plan also supposeably establishes a 12-member joint Congressional Cmte to find future savings. And finally, the committee’s recommendations will be guaranteed up or down vote in Senate without any amendments by the end of this year. Only the left wing radical extremists could propose $1 trillion in “war savings” that are expected to end anyway. Typical smoke and mirrors.
I suppose this is still better than nothing. And certainly better than anything else talked about by far left Democrats. Of course, this is the only PLAN that left wing radicals in the Senate have actually proposed to this point.
