What happened to this guy? Allen West claims debt deal has “principles of Cut, Cap, and Balance”

allenwestWhat the hell happened to Allen West? I had so much respect for this guy. I thought he was a strong conservative? Well, I guess the cesspool of Washington DC can change even him. At a Young America’s Foundation event, Allen West actually told CNSNews that the lousy debt ceiling hiking deal has the same “principles” of Cut, Cap, and Balance. HUH?

West said, “Well it’s very simple. First of all, if I asked you, if I was to vote no, what was I voting for? And to just come up here and say that you’re going to vote against something does not mean that you are governing properly, you’re not coming up with a policy to go forward. I think that when you look at the principles of Cut, Cap, and Balance, that they still are there.”

Don’t know but voting yes wasn’t for the majority of Americans who wanted some responsible response to our economic instability/crisis.   It wasn’t a vote which considered the sound advice of economic advisors worldwide, the IMF, either of the credit rating authorities, our creditors, CBO, Obamas own economic committee, the stock market (all who must be the same kind of “terrorists” the Tea Party has been deemed for suggesting that we actually take a shot at getting our spending under control.)  A no vote might have meant that you were standing by your conservative principles and recognized that neither this bill nor “Cut, Cap and Balance” even came close to resolving issues which threaten to collapse our economy and endanger our way of life.  Even more, it might have served to assure others of your sincere resolve to help move this country in the right direction to security and prosperity again.  You seem to know what that is……but this vote did not reflect that at all.

Allen West is a pragmatic and his logic is sound. It doesn’t help the country to act like a little child and saying “no” to everything. Sometimes you have to live with a compromise.
