Florida Republican primary – January 31, 2012
Coming off his huge win in South Carolina, Newt Gingrich was way up in the polls in Florida. One poll has Gingrich up 10 points over Romney, and a Rasmussen poll in late January had Gingrich up by 9 points over Romney. Then the establishment GOP paniced, and Romney dumped millions into negative ads towards Gingrich. The polls were shifting ever so slightly. Then there were two debates in Florida. Gingrich, who claims to be the best debater, and the best one to debate Obama was absoultely horrible in the two debates in Florida. While Romney wasn’t fabulous in the two Florida debates, he was improved from the two in South Carolina. Romney was on the offense against Gingrich, as was Rick Santorum. Eventually Mitt Romney won Florida by almost 15 percent, grabbing all 50 delegates in the winner take all primary.
