I don’t have a problem with Sheriff Paul Babeu because he’s gay. I frankly can care less. What I am pissed off about (if true) is the alleged abuse of power by Babeu. The rumors an allegations are that Babeu had a relationship with a former campaign volunteer, and illegal Mexican immigrant. The reports also state that Babeu threated the Mexican with deportation if he made the gay relationship public. IF that is true, this guy has no business being in power as Sheriff, or as a member of Congress since he is running for the AZ04 seat. Paul Babeu was Mitt Romney’s co-chairman in Arizona, and has decided to step down. This is yet another problem for the floundering Romney.
If Babeu just had a gay relationship with the Mexican guy, and never abused his power in any way, then I’m cool with it. If he did in fact abuse his power by threatening to deport the guy, then he should step down as Sheriff of Pinal County, and drop his bid for Congress.
