PPP North Carolina Republican Primary Poll – Romney and Santorum at 30 percent each

rick-santorum-goofyAt this point, most people assume that April is going to be a very good month for Mittens Romney and a very tough one for Rick Santorum. April has a lot of Northeast/Liberal states, and Washington DC scheduled for primaries and/or caucuses. Romney wouldn’t clinch the GOP nomination in April with the delegates he gets, unless Santorum, Gingrich and Ron Paul dropped out, and Pennsylvania is probably the only state that’s an easy win for Santorum during April. During May, it’s back to stronger conservative states (with the exception of Oregon which is likely to be a Romney win.) If Santorum is still around in May, North Carolina will be an important state for him. PPP poll for the May 8th North Carolina Republican primary puts Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney in a tie at 30% each. Newt Gingrich is a distant third, and Ron Paul is last.

This is actually an improvement for Santorum as he was four points down to Romney in the last PPP poll two weeks ago.
