Ron Paul gets at least half of delegates from Minnesota caucuses

ron-paul-nutjobRemember the Minnesota caucuses back on February 7th? That was the disastrous night for Mitt Romney where Rick Santorum won three states. Minnesota, Colorado and the Missouri “beauty contest” primary. Ron Paul came in second in Minnesota behind Rick Santorum and Romney ended up third. Santorum won with 45% of the vote while Paul had about 27%. Now that Rick Santorum is gone, the delegates from that caucus didn’t go to Mitt Romney. Half of Minnesota’s 40 delegates went to Ron Paul.

Minnesota will send 40 delegates to the Republican National Convention. Twenty of the 24 delegates based on congressional districts were awarded to Texas Rep. Ron Paul in selection processes that concluded this weekend.

Thirteen Minnesota delegates will be allocated based on the results of a statewide convention in May, according to Paul campaign senior adviser Doug Wead.
