Progressive liberal Buzz Bissinger now wants to ban college football

democrat-commiesSuddenly, sports is becoming a target of the far left. In baseball, you have Tim McCarver telling you how there are more homeruns nowadays because the air is thinner from global warming. In basketball with the NBA playoffs, you have a fat tub of lard like Charles Barkley threatening Mitt Romney that “We’re Going To Beat You Like A Drum…You’re Going Down, Bro.” And now you have progressive liberal Buzz Bissinger writing in the Wall Street Journal how we should ban college football.

You see, even though a tiny percentage of any school’s students will even play football (or any sport at college), ole Buzz is worried that the costs are high, the benefits to students are low, and academics pay the price. This there NOTHING sacred anymore?

    College football makes a sizable profit at successful university programs, such as Alabama and Texas. Football also serves as a successful marketing draw, even as a loss leader. In a time of increasing competition and decreasing government subsidies, leftists will come to realize that they need college football more than college football needs them.
     For a parallel look to ROTC. Many leftist universities banned ROTC from their campuses — to protest the Vietnam War or Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell… or just because of their deep contempt for the military. Eastern leftists especially showed disdain for the military-student program. The result…

The left once again cuts off their nose to spite their face.
