Mitt Romney’s Vice President list down to four people?
I stand by my prediction months ago that Romney is going to pick Chris Christie as his running mate if Marco Rubio doesn’t want to job. But this Real Clear Politics article fails to mention either Christie or Rubio. Real Clear Politics isn’t a left wing partisan site, so it has some credibility with me. This article mentions four people on Romney’s VP list: Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Ohio Senator Rob Portman, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal. I like Jindal and Ryan. With Ryan as running mate, that gives Romney an even better chance at taking Wisconsin. Jindal, while a solid conservative isn’t going to net any new states as Louisiana is a safe Romney state. Pawlenty and Portman are both boring. Unless Pawlenty could bring Minnesota for Romney (which is highly doubtful), I fail the see the benefit. Rob Portman pf course being from Ohio could help bring in that state that Romney needs to win.
Mitt Romney may be tight-lipped about his vice presidential short list, warning that only he and longtime aide Beth Myers know who is on it, but a close examination of the campaign’s activity suggests four contenders have risen through the ranks: Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.
