ABC bold claim in June – Tea Party Candidates Losing Steam in 2012
Hey remember in late June when ABC declared that tea party candidates are ‘losing steam’ in 2012? Someone ought to tell that to Ted Cruz.
One big “establishment vs. Tea Party” primary has yet to take place. In Texas, former Solicitor General Ted Cruz, who is widely viewed as an up-and-coming Tea Party star and frequently compared to Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (both men are of Hispanic descent) is in the final weeks of a runoff with Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, who is viewed as the establishment candidate in the race. Polls have consistently shown Dewhurst in the lead, but some political observers in the state believe that Cruz could benefit from the July 31 runoff, where turnout will be low and likely consist of a more steadfastly conservative demographic.
Oh and last night in Georgia, it wasn’t any candidate for the tea party that won, but rather the defeat of T-SPLOST. Tea Party members opposed this. It was a 1% sales tax on Georgia residents to pay for more government spending. This got crushed in the peach state 74% against to 26% voting in favor. Considering all the progressive liberal Democrat parasites in the Atlanta area, this a huge win for the tea party.
So keep telling us pink slime media, the Tea Party is dead! It’s over, it’s done. You’ve seen how dead the tea party is so far in the primary season. You’ll see how ‘dead’ it is in the fall elections too.
