Report: Todd Akin taking concrete steps to withdraw from Missouri Senate race on 8-21-2012
We don’t need the distraction from Todd Akin’s stupid comments about ‘legitimate rape.’ There are now reports that Akin will drop out of the Senate race tomorrow after it was announced the NRSC and American Crossroads will no longer run ads in support of him. Of course this brings up the amazing hypocrisy and double standard again of liberal bias. Back in 2009 Whoopie Goldberg deemed that Polanski’s rape of a 13 year old girl wasn’t really ‘rape, rape.’ That was as equally stupid of a comment as Akin made yesterday. Yet there wasn’t any outrage from the media. In fact, there weren’t even any mentions of no. So called women’s rights groups never had a comment about it either. But since Akin is a Republican, he’s like the devil or something. The good thing is, if this report is true, the pink slime media wouldn’t be able to distract away from Claire McCaskill’s failed record as Senator anymore with him out of the way.
“Akin is taking concrete steps to withdraw by tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.,” a senior Republican told BuzzFeed, adding that Akin could still change his mind.
Tomorrow afternoon is an important deadline: If he files papers to end his candidacy in Jefferson City tomorrow he can end his candidacy unilaterally; after that, he would have to file an application in court.
