Slop: NBC releases D+11 Ohio poll giving Obama a slight lead

nbcNBC hack Chuck Todd whined about Rasmussen”s polls being ‘slop.’ If you want to see what a slop poll looks like, check out the latest poll from Ohio on Romney Vs. Obama. The last NBC poll from Ohio had a sample size of Democrat +5. Probably too high for this year’s election turnout, but at least it was around what the turnout looked like in 2008. What’s happened since Mitt Romney crushed Obama in the debate? Polls in Ohio are starting to show Mitt Romney ahead. So what does NBC do? Oversample Democrat likely voters by 11 points, showing little change for Obama in the key state from the pre-debate poll. The only purpose this poll does is to try and skew the Ohio averages which have been trending in Romney’s favor since the debate.  In 2008 the voter turnout in Ohio for the Obama wave election was 39% Democrat,  31% Republican and 30% independent. The 2004 election saw a Republican advantage of five points. So what is the NBC sample size in this poll? 40% Democrat, 29% Republican and 29% independent. So basically NBC is assume that Democrat turnout is going to be up over 2008, Republican and independent turnout is going to be down from 2008. Uhm, yea.

Someone needs to tell Chuck Todd, that if he’s going to brag about how much money NBC spends on it’s polling compared to Rasmussen, they at least should have legit polls, and not pathetic oversampled polls like this. Much like Obama, NBC is just pissing their money away on these polls.
