State Department never requested military backup the night of terrorist attack in Benghazi

obama-muslim-turbanEli Lake of the Daily Beast is one of the few reporters who is actually covering and investigating (aside from Fox News) the BengazhiGate cover-up. I don’t know much about Eli Lake, but Daily Beast owns Newsweek and is about as left wing as it gets, so his coverage surprises me. The latest from Lake is the revelation that the Obama/Hillary Clinton State Department never requested military backup on the night of the terrorist attack as Americans were killed and the consulate building burned.

On the night of the 9/11 anniversary assault at the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, the Americans defending the compound and a nearby CIA annex were severely outmanned. Nonetheless, the State Department never requested military backup that evening, two senior U.S. officials familiar with the details of military planning tell The Daily Beast.
