Obama referred to Burma as Myanmar, a name the U.S. rejects in yet another gaffe
Typical Obama. Embarrasses the country again with anothee gaffe, and uses the none-American name of Burma aka Myanmar as he spoke about the country while in Asia. Burma continues to be used in English by the governments of many countries, including the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. The United Nations uses ‘Myanmar’ as do Southeast Asian Nations, Russia, Germany, Norway, China, India, Australia and Japan.
During his remarks earlier, Pres Obama referred to Burma as Myanmar, the name used by the military junta, a name the U.S. rejects.
