Two Maine ABC newscasters Cindy Michaels and Tom Consiglio resign on air over ‘unbalanced news, politically’

abcWow! Journalists with integrity? That’s such a rarity these days. Two Maine ABC newscasters Cindy Michaels and Tom Consiglio surprised everyone when they resigned at the end of their newscast over what they claim is ‘unbalanced news, politically.’ While neither Cindy Michaels and Tom Consiglio would say which way they were told to slant the news, since it’s ABC you can pretty much figure it out on your own.

WVII – ABC7 anchors Cindy Michaels and Tom Consiglio ended their broadcast by quitting their jobs before they had alerted anyone in the newsroom about their decision.

At the end of the broadcast Michaels, the station’s news director, said, “And finally tonight, this will be Tony and my final show together here on ABC7. The last six years have been an interesting and enjoyable time for both of us as we have been the longest running news team in Bangor.”

Consiglio added, “Some recent developments have come to our attention, though, and departing together is the best alternative we can take.”

This comment is prejudice. Look at fox news for example, completely Republican. Anyways, they never told us why they quit so you cant make up sh$t unless you have more info, not thirdhand either.

It would be nice if true but I didn’t hear any reference to why they were quitting. Is there more somewhere? An interview after they quit?

As a rock-ribbed Midwestern conservative, I was ready to stand up and cheer these 2. However, I heard no explanation as to why they resigned. If it was truly due to media bias, then the public had the right to hear that and these 2 anchors had the OBLIGATION to tell it on the air. After all, we just re-elected unquestionably worst “president” in U.S. history. It was entirely due to media bias. If it hadn’t been, he would have lost in a Reaganesque landslide and might have even been facing prosecution for gun-running in at least 2 parts of the world and for covering up (and perhaps causing) the needless and horrible deaths of 4 Americans in Benghazi.
I don’t think these 2 were courageous at all. In fact, I think they’re cowards for not speaking up at a time when the very existence of this country hangs in the balance and much of it has to do with how slanted media coverage is. Without a free press, those without the skill, drive or capacity to seek out and find the truth are doomed to ignorance and the rest of us will go down on their sinking ship.
