Obama’s fiscal-cliff demands: $1.6 trillion in new taxes – $50 billion economic-stimulus AND permanent increase in the federal debt ceiling
So here are Obama’s demands for solving the so called fiscal-cliff. Jacking up taxes by $1.6 Trillion and wasting another $50 billion on economic stimulus because the first one worked so well. Obama’s demands also include a permanent increase in the federal debt ceiling. So far Republicans like usual are talking big and rejecting this Obama demand, but we’ll see if they eventually cave like they always do. When John ‘Weeper’ Boehner is your leader, you are already at a disadvantage.
The White House is seeking $1.6 trillion in tax increases up front, as well as $50 billion in additional spending, as part of any “Fiscal Cliff” deal, Republican aides told the Wall Street Journal.
The proposals, which include a permanent increase in the federal debt ceiling, came as Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner visited Capitol Hill on Thursday to discuss the fiscal cliff.
