New Jersey Democrat Senator Robert ‘Bob’ Menendez writes personal check of $58,000 for two round-trip flights he took on Dr. Salomon Melgen’s private jet to the Dominican Republic, three years later, calls it sloppy
And the story continues. Buried way down on NBC New York’s page is another story about the evolving New Jersey Democrat Senator Robert Menendez Dominican Republic scandal. Suddenly, it seems that Menendez has cut a personal check to reimburse Dr. Salomon Melgen $58,000 for flying twice on the private jet for two round-trip flights he took to the Dominican Republic to do God knows what, in 2010! Dan O’Brien, Menendez chief of staff, simply called the three year ‘delay’ in payment as ‘sloppy’ and that O’Brien is ‘I’m chalking it up to an oversight.’

U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) has written a personal check of $58,000 to reimburse a fundraiser for two round-trip flights he took on a private jet to the Dominican Republic, three years after questions were raised about the senator’s travel with fundraiser and friend Dr. Salomon Melgen.
Menendez’s office says the three-year delay in paying for the plane trips was an “oversight.”
“This was sloppy,” Dan O’Brien, Menendez’ chief of staff, told NBC News about Menendez’ failure to pay for the two 2010 flights at the time. “I’m chalking it up to an oversight.”
