Kobe Bryant is retiring of the NBA season. Kobe Bryant who has been with the Lakers for 20 years. Being a 30 year Lakers fan myself, Kobe Bryant retiring announcement shocked me. If of course, if you’ve seen him play this year, he’s been a disaster. I guess his body just couldn’t take it anymore. The Lakers and Philadelphia are the biggest jokes right now in the NBA. Maybe Kobe Bryant just said fuck it and decided to retire.
Kobe Bryant will go down as one of the best NBA players in history. Since he is going to retire at the end of this season, the Lakers will probably retire his jersey next season. What will they do? Retire 8 and 24?

I can still remember Kobe Bryant as a bald rookie in 1996. Who could have guessed he would turn out to be one of the best in NBA history? Jerry West knew Kobe Bryant was great, but did he envision Bryant being as good as he turned out? Hard to image.
Even harder to imagine then Kobe Bryant’s retirement is how the Lakers got him in the first place. Trading a scrub like Vlade Divac to the Charlotte Hornets for Bryant who they had already drafted. Talk about grand larceny!
Kobe Bryant won five championships with the Lakers, two without Shaquile O’Neil. It’s going to be hard to imagine the NBA without Kobe Bryant after he retires.
Anyway, it’s nice to talk about something other than politics.
