Obama now says the U.S. Can ‘absorb terrorist attacks’
Some journalist named Bob Woodward has written a new book. In what appears to be a Washington Post piece playing up to the anti-war left, it describes Woodward’s book as Obama trying to dictate the terms of the Afghan war, and “urgently” looked for a way out of the war. But then, there was a really disturbing quote from Obama. In July of Obama told Woodward that American can simply just “absorb”: a terrorist attack. Like it’s nothing at all.
We can absorb a terrorist attack. We’ll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever . . . we absorbed it
Doesn’t this just make you feel really safe? More from the Wapo article:

Nancy Pelosi wants “serious drawdown” of troops in Afghanistan by July 2011
In an exclusive interview with the Huffington Post, Nancy Pelosi made clear “there Will Be ‘A Serious Drawdown’ From Afghanistan In July 2011.” This regardless of what the conditions on the ground are like, or if the troops and military are still trying to achieve their goal of taking out the Taliban.
“I think we’ll have a serious drawdown, I don’t think it’ll be, as [the president] said, turning out the lights,” said Pelosi.
Asked point-blank whether she thinks troops will be pulled out of the country in July 2011, Pelosi replied: “I do. And everything I saw there before, for all the bad things there that I saw in terms of [corruption and money wasted] … I did consistently hear that the timetable was on schedule to have serious drawdown.” In typical Huffington Post fashion, they praise San Fran Nan’s remarks and think that these remarks will “undoubtedly be welcomed” by Democrats and Republicans. Democrats who don’t care one bit about the troop’s lives and the stated military goals will undoubtedly love this. Other than that, i’m not so sure.
Let the beans spill! Gen. McChrystal to retire from the Army
After being throw under the bus by the Obama regime last week and being fired as the top U.S. general of the Afghanistan war, Gen. Stanley McChrystal, told the Army on Monday that he will retire. Army spokesman Col. Tom Collins tells Fox News that McChrystal has informed the office that handles retirements for the Army, which is the General Officer Management Office, that he intends to retire.

Obama wasn’t such a big fan of Petraeus in 2007 during Iraq hearings
Times change. Especially when you are Obama and you remove your top General in Afghanistan not because he’s incompetent, but because McChrystal told truth about Obama’s failings

Thin skinned Obama forces Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s resignation, replaces him with Gen. David Petraeus
The thin skinned commander in chump has struck again. Obama announced Wednesday that he has accepted Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s forced resignation as the commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan and nominated Gen. David Petraeus to replace him, following a scathing article in which he and his aides were quoted criticizing the administration. Congress will now have to approve of Petraeus before he can “officially” take over for McChrystal’s posititon. According to Fox News, McChrystal got his marching orders as he held a face-to-face meeting at the White House, where he met with the president after a meeting with Defense Secretary Robert Gates at the Pentagon. The Wednesday meeting preceded a regular session of the administration’s strategy team for Afghanistan, held in the White House Situation Room. Normally, McChrystal would have joined via teleconference but he was summoned to Washington as he faced a private flogging over the article that appeared in Rolling Stone.
Stanley McChrystal likely will resign Wednesday
Looks like Obama has forced McChrystal to resign! From CNN:
McChrystal likely will resign Wednesday, a Pentagon source with ongoing contacts with the general said.
Another source, The London Telegraph has also confirmed that McChrystal has tendered his resignation to Obama. It’s too bad McChystal didn’t see the writing on the walls when Obama dithered for months on his request for 40,000 more troops in Afghanistan. Instead, Obama only gave him 75% of what he requested.
Rolling Stone full article about Stanley McChrystal – The Runaway General
The now famous Rolling Stone magazine article entitled “The Runaway General” appears in RS 1108/1109 from July 8-22, 2010, on newsstands Friday, June 25. If you can’t wait three more days to pick up a copy of Rolling Stone magazine, you can now read the full article online at their website.
‘How’d I get screwed into going to this dinner?” demands Gen. Stanley McChrystal. It’s a Thursday night in mid-April, and the commander of all U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan is sitting in a four-star suite at the Hôtel Westminster in Paris. He’s in France to sell his new war strategy to our NATO allies – to keep up the fiction, in essence, that we actually have allies. Since McChrystal took over a year ago, the Afghan war has become the exclusive property of the United States. Opposition to the war has already toppled the Dutch government, forced the resignation of Germany’s president and sparked both Canada and the Netherlands to announce the withdrawal of their 4,500 troops. McChrystal is in Paris to keep the French, who have lost more than 40 soldiers in Afghanistan, from going all wobbly on him.
“The dinner comes with the position, sir,” says his chief of staff, Col. Charlie Flynn.
McChrystal turns sharply in his chair.
“Hey, Charlie,” he asks, “does this come with the position?”
McChrystal gives him the middle finger.
On the ground with the Runaway General: Photos of Stanley McChrystal at work.
The general stands and looks around the suite that his traveling staff of 10 has converted into a full-scale operations center. The tables are crowded with silver Panasonic Toughbooks, and blue cables crisscross the hotel’s thick carpet, hooked up to satellite dishes to provide encrypted phone and e-mail communications. Dressed in off-the-rack civilian casual – blue tie, button-down shirt, dress slacks – McChrystal is way out of his comfort zone. Paris, as one of his advisers says, is the “most anti-McChrystal city you can imagine.” The general hates fancy restaurants, rejecting any place with candles on the tables as too “Gucci.” He prefers Bud Light Lime (his favorite beer) to Bordeaux,
Talladega Nights(his favorite movie) to Jean-Luc Godard. Besides, the public eye has never been a place where McChrystal felt comfortable: Before President Obama put him in charge of the war in Afghanistan, he spent five years running the Pentagon’s most secretive black ops.
“What’s the update on the Kandahar bombing?” McChrystal asks Flynn. The city has been rocked by two massive car bombs in the past day alone, calling into question the general’s assurances that he can wrest it from the Taliban.
“We have two KIAs, but that hasn’t been confirmed,” Flynn says.
McChrystal takes a final look around the suite. At 55, he is gaunt and lean, not unlike an older version of Christian Bale in Rescue Dawn. His slate-blue eyes have the unsettling ability to drill down when they lock on you. If you’ve fucked up or disappointed him, they can destroy your soul without the need for him to raise his voice.
“I’d rather have my ass kicked by a roomful of people than go out to this dinner,” McChrystal says.
He pauses a beat.
“Unfortunately,” he adds, “no one in this room could do it.”
With that, he’s out the door.
“Who’s he going to dinner with?” I ask one of his aides.
8 Americans Killed in Afghan Bomb Attack
A suicide bomb attack on a military base in Afghanistan killed eight Americans Wednesday, a U.S. official told CBS News correspondent David Martin. All the victims were civilians, a spokesman for the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan told CBS News. The attack occurred in a makeshift gym at a forward operating military base in Khost province, reports Martin.
Pelosi says rallying votes for troop surge in Afghanistan will be Obama’s job
Once a witch, always a witch. I’m going to assume there is already enough votes in the House for Obama’s Afghanistan “surge” of 30,000 troops (only 75% of the mid level plan his general requested). If there aren’t enough votes yet, Obama better not rely on any help of gathering votes from Nancy Pelosi. She also said she is “done” asking her colleagues to back wars that they do not support (I guess that doesn’t include the American people). According to the Washington Post:
“The president’s going to have to make his case,” Pelosi told reporters at a year-end briefing on the legislative session.
Obama now opposed to drone strikes on Taliban leaders
Lets assume the U.S. Military has Osama Bin Laden in their sights. Or maybe the Tollybahn, err excuse me Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar. Our goal is to take them out by any means necessary isn’t it? Well, not with this “President”. According to Newsweek:
Barbara Boxer – there’s less than 100 al Qaeda forces in Afghanistan
California Senator Barbara Boxer, a Democrat who is up for re-election in 2010, issued her statement about Obama’s “Afghanistan” speech last night. Apparently, she knows something we don’t. There’s less than 100 al Qaeda terrorists in that country and “roughly” 20,000 “Tollybahn” err Taliban members (San Francisco Chronicle):
“I support the President’s mission and exit strategy for Afghanistan, but I do not support adding more troops because there are now 200,000 American, NATO and Afghan forces fighting roughly 20,000 Taliban and less than 100 al Qaeda.”
Boxer of course aside being one of those global warming/climate change nut jobs also was one of few Democrats who voted against a resolution giving President Bush the authority to use military force against Iraq in 2002.
Another classic Joe Biden gaffe: The nuclear state called Afghanistan
Is Afghanistan a nuclear state now? According to Joe Biden it is. Today on Good Morning America Diane Sawyer conducted an interview with Joe Biden on the subject of Afghanistan, but ignored an embarrassing gaffe from Biden. From Newsbusters:
“Our number one enemy concern is the existential threat, al Qaeda. Number two is the stability of a nuclear state called Afghanistan, under siege by radicals.”
MoveOn.org pissed at Obama now
GretaWIRE posted info of an e-mail sent by MoveOn.org’s Daniel Mintz. Apparently they aren’t too happy that Obama is sending in 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. Not for the reasons that its some sort of half-assed plan, but of course the usual liberal reasons for being anti-war. In a strange sort of way, I have to agree with them though, since either you go at it to win, or you bring all the troops home and not keep them in danger if you have no desire to completely protect them and provide the manpower needed. Here’s a copy of the e-mail provided by GretaWIRE:
Obama to send “only” 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. Not 80,000 or even 40,000 as McChrystal requested
According to Fox News, tonight’s “announcement” and photo op at Fort Bragg by Obama will only yield 30,000 more troops for the “war of necessity” as Obama campaigned on. General Stanley McChrystal outlayed plans to Obama (back in August remember?) to win the war or risk failure. The main plan called for anywhere between 80,000 and 100,000 new troops for Afghanistan. The half-assed planned called for 40,000. So the man with so much not “experience” in being commander in chief has undercut has hand picked general and will send only 75% of what McChrystal’s half-assed plan required.
Supreme Court rules to keep detainee “abuse” photos secret
The Supreme Court ruled Monday to lock up forever some incendiary photos that show U.S. soldiers “abusing” foreign prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to McClatchy the justices took the expected but formal step of reversing a lower court’s order that the pictures be released. Using its budget powers, Congress already had moved to keep the photos secret. In a brief, unsigned decision issued Monday without elaboration, the court cited a provision in a Homeland Security funding bill that President Barack Obama signed Oct. 28. The provision permitted the Pentagon to block the public release of the pictures in question, as well as others deemed to “endanger” U.S. soldiers or civilians.

Obama to announce his Afghanistan plan from West Point – not the oval office
The narcissist in chief will even use this December 1st “announcement” of troop deployment to Afghanistan as a photo/video op. Instead of acting like an actual PRESIDENT, Obama has decided he will trot off to West Point this coming Tuesday night to announce that he will “ok” 34,000 or so more troops to be deployed, far less than the 80,000 requested by McChrystal’s top plan, and even undercutting the half-assed plan of 40,000. The Washington Post has “preview” of his speech:

McChrystal “satisfied” with Obama’s half-assed plan of adding 34,000 troops to Afghanistan
Earlier in the week the AP reported that Obama was going to “announce” his decision on more troops for Afghanistan, ranging between 32,000 and 35,000. McClatchy is reporting the total with be 34,000, and it will be announced on Tuesday, December 1st, during yet another Prime Time address from Obama. McCrystal’s plans ranged from 10,000-80,000 additional troops to “win” the “war of necessity”.
Afghanistan troop decision coming by Monday, November 30th?
According to the AP, Obama may use an unusual evening war council session Monday to lock in his long-awaited decision on whether to commit tens of thousands of new U.S. forces to the war in Afghanistan. Military officials and others expect Obama to use his half ass-ed planned of deploying 32,000 to 35,000 U.S. forces to war, instead of the max 80,000 McChrystal suggested in his top plan, and below the “middle ground” plan of 40,000 troops proposed by McChrystal.

Obama will NOT accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team
The judgment to lead right? Obama’s “good war” apparently isn’t worth the time, much like the details about the Fort Hood tragedy last week when he decided to give his “shout outs” and jabber for 2 minutes before even acknowledging it. According to the AP, Obama does not plan to accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team, instead pushing for revisions to clarify how and when U.S. troops would turn over responsibility to the Afghan government, a senior administration official said Wednesday.

Obama leaning toward half-assed plan of sending 34,000 more troops for Afghanistan
After months and months of dithering while Obama was busy playing golf, hosting dance parties at the White House and popping off the Copenhagen to beg for the Chicago 2016 Olympic, only to fall flat on his face, He may finally be ready to make a decision on sending more troops to Afghanistan. Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s “low risk option” and the one that would offer the best chance to contain the Taliban-led insurgency and stabilize Afghanistan called for 80,000 more troops. Instead, Obama is considering sending just 34,000, and going half-assed. It splits the difference between two other McChrystal options: a “high-risk” one that called for 20,000 additional troops and a “medium-risk” one that would add 40,000 to 45,000 troops, according to Mcclatchy.
