Newsbusters recalls how PBS in 1986 called Qaddafi an Islamic Hero. That of course was the taxpayer-funded PBS documentary series by an Islamic professor that honored Qadhafi as “brilliant.”

Then of course there was this leaked Wikileaks cable in which the warmonger RINO John McCain promised to help Qaddafi. Today, McCain is going all over the media praising Obama for the rebels killing and capturing Qaddafi. Back in August of 2009, the warmonger McCain was out praising Qaddafi, even calling on Congress to expand ties with Qaddafi’s government.

The changes occurred in two press releases from the Department of Energy’s loan guarantee program — the same program that has been the center of controversy surrounding the failed solar company Solyndra.

Both were changed to remove the name of a company that has received negative press attention in recent days, SunPower, and replace it with the name of another company,

Generally, it is not considered correct procedure to revise old press releases retroactively on the Web. More commonly, government agencies will issue a new press release with a current date explaining any changes that have occurred.

“…The actual legal bill that Wilson Sonsini submitted to Solyndra is not a matter of public record. Solyndra, as part of its Recovery Act reporting requirements, was required to disclose summary information about how the Recovery Act funds were spent, including the identity of the vendors, their DUNS number, the payment amount and a description of the product/service provided….”

Spinner had some role in dealing with details of the Solyndra loan. Guy wrote in an Aug. 20, 2009, email, “Quick question – do you want to put in credit score estimates for Solyndra [redacted] and [redacted], or just use flat 11.85 percent?”

Spinner outlined his concern about the possible conflict of interest in a Sept. 23, 2009, email to DOE ethics official Sue Wadel, explaining the arrangement that his wife Allison Spinner had worked out with her law firm, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

“WSGR has programmed Allison’s pay structure to take out any profit sharing that any of these companies may generate in fees re: DOE loan applications.”

Jonathan Silver, head of the Loan Programs Office, plans to join the organization Third Way as a “distinguished visiting fellow.” The career change comes in the middle of heavy scrutiny from Congress over the department’s handling of the Solyndra agreement. Documents that have emerged over the past month show officials were warned about potential problems with the company as it sought government help.
But the president on Thursday defended the Energy Department’s vetting. And Energy Secretary Steven Chu said in a statement that Silver’s departure was expected.
Chu said Silver told him in July that he planned to return to the private sector soon after Sept. 30, when the loan program expired.
“Since he joined the Department in November 2009, Jonathan assembled and managed a truly outstanding team that has transformed the program into the world leader in financing innovative clean energy projects. Under his leadership, the loan program has demonstrated considerable success, with a broad portfolio of investments that will help American companies compete in the global clean energy market,” Chu said. “Because of my absolute confidence in Jonathan and the outstanding work he has done, I would welcome his continued service at the Department, but I completely understand the decision he has made.”

Anthony Russo, director of the National Coordination Office for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing, told The Daily Beast he rejected “guidance” from the White House’s Office of Budget and Management suggesting he tell Congress that the government’s concerns about the project by the firm LightSquared could be resolved in 90 days, a timetable favorable to the company’s plans.

“They gave that to me and presumably the other witnesses,” Russo said. “There is one sentence I disagreed with, which said that I thought the testing could be resolved in 90 days. So I took it out.”

Solyndra told the federal government it needed a total of $642 million to complete Phase II, most of which would have been covered by the $469 million Solyndra sought to borrow with taxpayer-funded guarantees.

It’s unclear if the now-bankrupt and scandal-embroiled green energy company actually received a second loan. Department of Energy officials did not immediately respond to The Daily Caller’s request for comment, and the company’s SEC filing left the question open.

“Although the DOE determined on November 4, 2009 that our initial application was complete, and we submitted the second part of the application on November 17, 2009, there is no guarantee that the DOE will approve our application in the full amount requested or at all,” the company wrote in its December 18, 2009 SEC filing.

“The optics of a Solyndra default will be bad,” an official from the Office of Management and Budget wrote in a Jan. 31 email to a senior OMB official. “The timing will likely coincide with the 2012 campaign season heating up.”

Wouldn’t it be nice of the Office of Management and Budget was more concerned with the fact that half a billion dollars was basically flushed down the toilet, rather than Obama’s “optics” for his re-election bid? I guess thats now how it works in DC anymore. Especially when you have a corrupt, Chicago thug Marxist as President.

While we were out there, while we were building it – cause it is a half a billion dollar plant – everyone already knew that China had developed a more inexpensive way to manufacture these solar panels. Everyone knew that the plant wouldn’t work. But they still did it. They still built it.

Democratic strategist James Carville told me that the White House was in the wrong when it requested that the President address Congress on the same night and time as a Republican presidential debate.
“I do think this is a really big debate and I think the White House was out of bounds…in trying to schedule a speech during a debate,” Carville said on “GMA.”

Oh BTW, i’m still waiting for Obama’s 2011 Easter message to the American people months later. I guess that’s just not a quintessential American tradition.

Anytime Obama talks about the economy, the stock market tanks. Same thing happened on Monday as the Dow Jones took a huge plunge. Can’t you just keep stuffing your face with hamburgers or something Obama?

Obama’s 40% overall approval rating nearly matches the recent 41% approval Americans gave him for handling the debt ceiling negotiations. Though Americans rate Obama poorly for his handling of the situation, they are less approving of how House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are handling it. Gallup does not include ratings of Congress or congressional leaders in its Daily tracking, and thus, there is no overall job approval rating of Boehner, Reid, or Congress directly comparable to Obama’s current 40% overall job approval rating.

Can’t wait until the leftist nutjobs start calling Gallup a “right wing” polling outfit.
