He will be remembered for a career of fighting for the middle class and battling big banks in his tenure as Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee. His efforts led to the sweeping Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act in 2010.

Wall Street executives are bracing for the possibility that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) will take over as the senior Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee after Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) retires.

Waters is in line for Frank’s spot and could become chairwoman of the panel if Democrats retake the House. Frank announced Monday that he will not seek another term in the House.

One of the best parts of retiring is “I don’t have to pretend to be nice to people I don’t like,” he said, adding that he will continue to be an advocate of public policy, for instance, on gay rights issues and debating the Defense of Marriage Act against opponents like former House Speaker and 2012 Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.

“The people who want to say ‘no’ have more leverage,” Frank said in a telephone interview. “Every showdown until now, the right wing had more leverage. They tended to benefit more from gridlock. Now, thanks to sequestration and the expiration of the Bush tax cuts, gridlock is bad for the right wing. So they are now going to be forced to deal.”

I wouldn’t love to see Perry fire back at the corrupt Democrat. It might help him recover somewhat from his freefall in the polls.

I’ll bet James Ready would love to go motorboat with the part of the body that gas came out of.

“Republican members have said, ‘I don’t want to be on the Appropriations Committee.’ The Appropriations Committee, which has been a great plum, is now going to be a great pain in the ass because you’re going to be expected to come up with cuts in things that are very popular, et cetera.”

“It may be possible for a wealthy, western society, heavily to intervene in a non-western, non-white poor society and help them out but probably not us,” Rep. Frank said while participating in a panel discussion at the libertarian CATO Institute about reducing the United States’ defense budget.

“Given, much of what I think is unfair, the anger about America, the jealousies, whatever, we’re often the least useful people to go in there and all we do is make people angrier at us.”

FOX25 has learned that Congressman Barney Frank was present during a marijuana arrest at James Ready’s home in Ogunquit, Maine. Ready is well-known for his relationship with Congressman Frank.

Bawney’s comeback is that when Frank was questioned he told police that he did not live in the house and that he only smoked cigars. Yea, i’ll bet. Even the brilliant Barney Frank claims:

he wouldn’t recognize a marijuana plant if he saw one because he is, “not a great outdoorsman,”

Just like he wouldn’t recognize a housing bubble or a problem with Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac if he saw one either.

Hopefully, Barney’s “partner” James Ready doesn’t start heckling Sean Bielat over this ad.

The chairman is facing one of his toughest fights in recent memory against Republican Sean Bielat, a 35-year-old Marine veteran with degrees from Georgetown, Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania.

Today, according to the Boston Herald, no apology was offered by Frank’s camp or James Ready, rather a dismissal of what happened:

“I don’t think he meant any harm whatsoever,” Frank spokesman Harry Gural said of Ready. “I’m not sure where it kind of went off track.”

“The public doesn’t grade on a curve,” Frank said of the lagging economy. “The public grades on the reality, especially when expectations had been raised.”

The GOP winner, who has worked for the military technology firm iRobot Corp., says he wants to slow down the “overspending and overreach of government.” He says voters in the district are tired of Frank’s arrogance.

Aren’t we all Sean?

“Those who argue that housing prices are now at the point of a bubble seem to be missing a very important point.”

“This is not the dotcom situation.”

Back to 2010. So how did the words of wisdom from Barney Frank work out America? Maybe the people of Boston will finally wake up and support Sean Bielat for Congress.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters, who is a senior member of the Financial services Committee, arranged a meeting between Treasury officials and representatives for OneUnited Bank. According to various media reports, Treasury officials were led to believe by Waters that the discussion was going to be about losses occurred due to the takeover of Fannie and Freddie, but instead they were hit with a request for bailout funds. It was a very profitable meeting for the bank, they got $12 million in TARP money.

Guess who was involved with helping out this OnUnited bank? None other than Barney Frank! According to today’s article, Frank was asked to assist by then state Senator Dianne Wilkerson. Wilkerson was a Democratic member of the Massachusetts Senate, representing the 2nd Suffolk District from 1993 to 2008.Who takes her call? More from the article:

At the time Frank talked to her this Senator had already been found guilty of failing to pay federal income taxes and has been plagued with campaign finance violations. This is the person he listened to about bailing out a bank? Yikes. My cat has more common sense than Frank.

The Herald then goes on to call for Bawney’s resignation:

It is time for Congressman Frank to call it a career when your best defense is that Dianne Wilkerson made me do it. Moreover, as we all know he is partially responsible for the meltdown of Freddie and Frannie.

Frank, in a wide-ranging interview with the Herald, went on to say that “as a Jew,” Israeli treatment of Arabs around some of the West Bank settlements “makes me ashamed that there would be Jews that would engage in that kind of victimization of a minority.”

The comments rankled some local Jewish leaders, who said activists on the largest vessel of the six-ship-flotilla sparked the deadly confrontation by attacking Israeli Naval commandos as they rappelled onto the ship. Kaufman, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council in Boston. “There’s something called self-defense and (Israeli officials) have a right to use it. As usual, everyone’s jumping on Israel and blaming Israel.”

Frank’s criticism comes as Israel faces a blistering worldwide backlash for its part in the early Monday morning raid, receiving only lukewarm U.S. support, in an incident that has underscored deep divides over Israeli-Palestinian issues. Israeli officials said members of the boarding party opened fire to defend themselves from a violent, armed assault, while activists said they were the ones under attack.

Frank said, “Once you have a combat situation and innocent people die, I mean, you know, look at our problems in Afghanistan, and we have an obligation to try and avoid it.” In defense of Israel, Frank added there are people “howling for Israel to pay a price that don’t seem disturbed that North Koreans killed 46 South Koreans by torpedoing a South Korean boat. I think we have a right to ask for some consistency.”

Frank called for a “genuinely impartial” inquiry, while local Jewish leaders questioned whether any international panel will be impartial toward Israel.

Nadav Tamir, Israel’s consul general to New England, said Israel would investigate the raid. He said the fact that Israeli forces did not use weapons on five other boats shows that they acted only in self-defense.
